I dig it, and here's why:

I think that it's potentially to do with the fact that the purge of all the Force-sensitive people has passed with the fall of the Sith-controlled Empire, and there are going to be Force users showing up again in the galaxy at large.

Essentially, the way that the prophesy about Anakin bringing balance to the force worked was really wiping out both the light and the dark sides that had gained power, and ripping them down to basically nothing, thus balancing the Force's "energy" in the Galaxy. This is shown in pretty significant detail in Altar of Mortis & Ghosts of Mortis in Clone Wars (Season 3). So, if all of that has passed circa end of Return of the Jedi, then The Force Awakens would both represent the Force as an energy coming back into prominence, as well as Force-sensitives/Force-users showing up again as a result.

Could also mean Sith rising as well, which is a new era for the galaxy.

(Seriously did all this happen a long time ago? James Gunn is keen in crossing our Guardians to meet them via time travel ffs)

They don't even indicate the Episode Number? guddamn it wut

Also the title usually doesn't incorporate a verb centrally, save for ESB, and certainly I feel in this case something like Awakening of the Force would have felt a little nicer and a little less generic

The main logos for A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, & Return of the Jedi don't explicitly state which episode they are, do they? It only really became worth mentioning in the title with the Prequels.

Really, it's only important here:

I don't think we can really say how good the title is or is not until we see the movie and find out how the title relates to the actual plot and characters. It could turn out to be a really fitting name for the movie.

TBH titles don't really matter. Return of the Jedi was originally called Revenge of the Jedi, for example. I'd rather see an actual trailer / the actual movie.

I'm pretty much believing any speculation about this movie I hear, which is very stupid of me. I just hope all the good ideas appear in the film... which never happens :P. *looks at the Matrix trilogy*.

I no longer believe Luke is evil, but is extremely powerful because of the force and reclusive because of it, and thus the title of the film: "The force awakens"... in Luke. Such a storyline wouldn't betray the point of anything in the earlier films. Good writers can work around seemingly concluded storylines, which is why I also have faith for Toy Story 4.

All the Star Wars titles are tongue in cheek. I don't think The Empire Strikes Back or Attack Of The Clones, are supposed to be serious.
That goes for the Indiana Jones series too, Temple of Doom lol.

I was just pointing out that you wouldn't need to watch a shakycam version of it from the Theater showings. :awesomonster:
