Stranger Things

Season two is already in the works shad, relax :monster:
Phew, thank you. That puts the show in a better light for me.

It REALLY grinds my gears when a girl kisses a guy on the cheek. Don't they know how teasing and confusing that is (both in real life and in TV)? I thought for sure that Nancy and Jonathan were getting together, but NOPE she inexplicably has gotten back together with Steve! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

I'M STILL IN AN ANGRY MOOD

FUCK YOU STEVE AND FUCK YOU NANCY

Steve did redeem himself though. Like at first I thought it was gonna be typical 'asshole boyfriend gets eaten by monster' but he fought it and helped them. And as for the kiss on the cheek, it's like it's not teasing/confusing if your mum or your aunty or an woman who you didn't fancy did it, is it? It's just a show of affection/thanks. Just like when old people call you 'love' or 'honey' - though maybe thats just a UK thing.

Not that I'd do that anyway, it's weird. :monster:

But in the context of the show it's possible that a love triangle might be in the making

Oh I binge watched this entire thing in a day a couple of weeks ago, it's amazing. It was so good I actually want to watch it all again :monster:

Breaking my break momentarily to highly suggest you rewatch Stranger Things :monster: .

It's so much better the second time around and with knowledge of how everything plays out somethings make more sense and the foreshadowing and extra junk they put in earlier episodes is sooo much better.

I may really need to do this now.

Is Hop working with the government now?
One theory is that he was working with the FBI the whole time. When he rattles off the list of possible agencies behind Hawkins Laboratory, he notably doesn't mention the FBI. He also seems noticeably savvy, knowing to check his place for a bug and places worth looking for it.

Regarding that last point, I'll concede that it's mentioned he had worked in a bigger city previously, so maybe he's more familiar with that sort of thing than your average small town sheriff may have been in the early 80s.

Steve did redeem himself though. Like at first I thought it was gonna be typical 'asshole boyfriend gets eaten by monster' but he fought it and helped them.
I really liked that the show didn't go that route. Honestly, I think Steve may have had the most complex role in the series. Not the most complex performance, no, but he had to juggle making the audience see and feel multiple ways about him.

Hopefully the showrunners resist going the typical route with that too, and just have the three of them agree to a poly relationship.

Actually I kind of hope they don't bother focusing too much on the relationships, cos frankly I'm fucking sick of that stuff permeating nearly every tv show/film. I mean, the friendships and familial bonds are important, but I don't feel like romance is important to the plot.

Like, I feel like in another writers hands they'd have Joyce and the Sheriff hooking up because saving her kid together made them have feeeeelings and all that shit.

Anyway, I definitely need moar Dustin, that kid is fucking awesome. And the Science teacher. I was so fucking tense when that Dept of Energy agent woman visited his house :scared:

I smashed through this over the last two days, oh my god! Best bit of TV since GoT if you ask me, I was genuinly scared for the characters so often, Dustin had to be the best character, I hear they are doing a season 2....I need it ASAP...

That concept art is seriously good, the comments section on that article are pure gold.

I use Behance quite a lot for work and remember the artist who did the cover/poster art sharing his work from Stranger Things on there. This is his page if you want to see his other work

The kids were all awesome, but Dustin and Eleven really stood out for me. Dustin maybe even more than Eleven, because the hardest thing for a child actor is to be just an ordinary kid. His performance was 100% genuine. One of my favourite scenes in the whole show was
when Mike reassured Dustin that they were best friends

I was disappointed to find that the Demogorgon is actually some sort of two headed ape thing? Which is totally not fucking scary when compared with the above.

I am a D&D veteran, and I will never issue death threats of opinions of the ridiculous and often wholly unterrifying designs of some of the original creatures in the Monster Manual.

Shademp: my favourite new thing.

Also, I hope you enjoy this, Yop. :monster:

And woot, finished. Plenty of Material to do a second season, although tbf
they kinda just added it in the final episode with Will and the not-so-subtle hint that Eleven is skipping along in the woods as a recluse type. Not sure why she chose Hopper to only know about her still being around though, I don't actually recall them having much scenes together.

Moar ramblings:

* I digged the whole cold war experimenting on people thing; I don't recall that having been done for a long time.

* This is only the beginning; there was only one visible monster dude, but there were plenty of hints that it Spawned; a hatched egg, at least 5 other kidnapped people being used as err, incubation chambers I guess. I wonder if it's a different species, or whether it's more of a parasite (think Goa'Uld) taking over the host, into the flappy tooth thing for some, but Something Else for humans. Or if it's just food for a Chestburster.

* I've recently read It, and I'm sure there's a lot more parallels with other Stephen King books (he was directly named in the series). On that note, there's a remake of It being filmed right now, I'm sure it'll be compared as a cheap knockoff of this (or vice-versa). Some parallels with It I can think of:

* Children and adults. In It, it's basically a two-part thing where both the kids and the kids-all-grown-up take on It. In the books these timelines are clearly divided, with the switches between the two turning closer and closer together as the book progresses, until the reader can't really be sure whether he's reading the adults or the children's time periods. In ST, I... actually haven't seen that much, more that the two figure out stuff on their own, just with different frames of reference and ways of dealing with it.

* Another parallel; in It, It mostly resides and emerges from the sewers, in particular through drains and shit. In ST, it's a parallel dimension and gates. er. Yeah.

* Here's my predictions / assumptions for next season:

* Main backdrop will be how the gate's still open, shit's coming through, moar gates open, everything goes to shit
* Side plot will be Will's chestbursters, either turning him into Something Else, or actually allowing him to flip between dimensions at will.
* El will be around doing shit, idk.
* actually fuck if I know they could go anywhere.

Still don't like jump scares, they could do away with those.

Meanwhile, same kid will also play in the It remake. Here's a picture of the whole (child) cast:

Tis awesome.

But.

Eleven's eyes are friggin brown, not blue. It's a pet peeve of mine, just like when they do fanart of Elena from FFVII and give her blue eyes. :monster:
