It's an entertaining movie. I wouldn't say it's great or anything, the film is a little too overindulgent in its own drama and a lot of the scenes felt forced as hell, the so called twist is lame and there's one thing in particular that is super facepalm worthy.

Hathaway is an incredibly mediocre Catwoman and Blake is really forced on you in this movie.

I liked "Bane" more than I thought I would and his voice was fucking hilarious. He brings a lot of great theatricality to the role.

The plot relies too much on convenience and a lot of the time I'm just like what.

The action scenes were definitely better than the other films. Some scenes were just facepalm worthy though. The assault launched by the cops in particular is just goofy.

Film hardly felt like a Batman movie as well. Batman himself gets very little screentime, which isn't exactly new for this series but it's still glaring imo.

Several characters, like Gordon and Alfred seem severely underused. The ending itself seems really random and silly as hell, as do the fates of the primary antagonists.

The films biggest crime however, is the fact that Christopher judge is wasted on this film.

@Zee, just to play devils advocate :monster:

also having to sit through the movie knowing who talia was while all this time is wasted to bring us this on an anti climactic reveal wow i was ~shocked~~~

It was anti-climactic for us.. the nerds. My friend who doesnt read batman but watched the TAS was shocked, as were a lot of people in my audience.
I think Nolan tried to bring a shock to the general audience while still giving the bigger fans something they would like to see. Seeing classic Talia/Bruce interactions on screen was pretty neat despite having pegged Marion as Talia before the movie even came out.

the ending of bruce essentially hanging up the cape while JGL takes it up was just NO
THAT'S NOT
NO

Bruce already picked the cowl back up earlier in the movie.. who's to say that is impossible to do again lol.
Building up the Bat Family like this could be useful for any future cross over movies. A Red Robin movie would be dope by the way xD

it was just such a shitty note to end on (not to mention alfred's entire speech hinting at the ending was taken from good will hunting nice one nolan)
Ahh I knew that sounded familiar. Derp.

and let's not get into the dumb plot holes like
- 1.punching someone's vertebrae back into place does NOT cure them
- 2.bruce falls from the pit twice how is his back not out of commission after that
- 3.batman drops a nuclear bomb right into the river near the city soooo.... what does that mean for the water supply??
- 4.not a plot hole but seriously BLAKE'S LEGAL NAME IS ROBIN ARE YOU SHITTING ME
LITERALLY ROBIN

NOT TIM OR DICK OR JASON SHIT I'D EVEN TAKE A TERRY SHOUT OUT

it's like nolan's saying HEY YOU FUCKING MORONS IT'S THAT GUY YOU WANTED TO SEE

1. I actually found Bane being saved by that doctor in the same prison more unbelievable to be honest. Am I supposed to believe those face wraps will help him breathe until Ras and Talia come back with a high tech mask?

That said having your bone punched back in and hanging by a rope is more believable then the doctor having access to medical equipment that could fix Bruce in that same prison. And I was almost positive that was actually a very old method to assist in back injuries (hanging by the rope suspended on your own weight.)

2. Same thoughts here.

3 He didnt drop it in the river.. He dropped it in the Gotham Bay at an unspecified distance.
3b. From your tumblr where you asked "High tech flying thing has no ejector seat or auto pilot" It did have auto pilot but fox had to use it to block the frequency burst that would set off the bomb. And I dont recall anyone saying the Bat didnt have a ejector seat or rope release.

4. I think this also hearkens back to my Talia answer. I think nolan was trying to appease both audiences. I pieced together he was going to be a Robin character very early on as did one of my friends who reads the comics, while my other friends didnt say "Oh" till the end of the movie.

@Dacon, I felt like hatheway was leagues above the other Selinas and Catwoman we have seen on screen or on TV. Its a very difficult character to write for Tv and movie and I think they did a good job.

I think they did a decent job but I'm not impressed at all from the selection of the actor to the shit they actually had her do.

She was just there. Like a lot of characters in this film.

I believed Hatheway was Catwoman more than I thought I would, but then I thought she was a shitty choice to begin with.

Liked Bane. He was fun to watch, intimidating, but when he first started talkgnio I almost laughed, he sounded like a cheery old british man sitting down to a cup of tea, but it grew on me once I got a sense for how he was being played. Overall, I enjoyed him, but hes pretty forgettable.

ALOT of shit made no sense or was crammed in there, or just wasnt explained.
- Did they even attempt to explain how Bane knew Bats was Wayne?
- "Go blow up that barrier out of town, but we'll never come back to it." Its like that scene was just to show off her ass and show shes good deep down.
- Talia was just kinda thrown in there, and why the hell did her and Wayne fuck? Wasn't she just some kindof humanitarian that kept bugging him about the funding for the project they did? Were they into each other? Suddenly it was like they had loved each other forever and they finally were able to express it.
- Why did they wait 5 months before actually becoming proactive against the nuclear bomb driving around the city?

JGL. Yeah.. alright. Sure, why not. Good acting tho.

Generally I thought the story was meh, script went from crap to meh. Decent action, was never bored, but sometimes shit just made no sense. Not a tight script at all.

Alfred made me cry. First time almost, second time, there was a tear.

EDIT: Also,
Sooo... WHAT exactly was wrong with Bane? It hurts when he doesnt have his mask on. Ok.. why? Did I just miss this? He got the shit beat out of him, doctor patched him up, annd...? Person I went with thought it was holding his jaw intact or something but that doesnt make much sense.

He's a member of the League of Shadows, an organization that already knew the identity of one its former members :P

I found Bane knowing Bruce was the Batman more believable then JGL figuring it out by seeing a face Bruce made once o.O

I really enjoyed it, but I'm not quite as nitpicky as others as I could really give a shit about comic books. It seemed no less plausible than the the first two movies to me.

I haven't seen it yet, and I haven't decided whether to do so yet because several people whose taste I strongly trust have said it really isn't that good. Is the criticism that the film has fascist overtones valid or is that people just reading too much into it?

Considering the Dark Knight's overwhelming portrayal of Batman supporting wiretapping, violation of personal privacy, illegal kidnapping of foreign nationals from their own country and general support of the Patriot Act, it wouldn't surprise me if this film contained similar sentiments. Bruce Wayne probably voted for Bush.

Criticisms so far have fuck all to do with comics, and it definitely has some continuity issues and general leaps of logic.

Aaron all I can say is watch the film and form your own opinion of it.

I really enjoyed the film. I thought Anne Hathaway kicked ass as Catwoman. Loved the scenes she had with Bruce and Batman,
"So that's how it feels."
The 2 fights with Bane were pretty intense too, but I thought
Bane's death went by too fast
.

I keep hearing mixed reviews on Catwoman. tbh I'm a huge tard for her and this may or may not crush my spirit. So is Hathaway good?

Yes. She completely sells the character, and this is coming from someone who thought she wouldn't be able to rise (lolol) to the challenge. Instead she turned out to be the most entertaining character in the entire movie (also one of the few who didn't entirely piss me off).

She is incredibly mediocre.

She's not so much Catwoman as she is some random chick thrust into the film's main plot.

She "sold it" in so much as she sold an incredibly lackluster role. Much like Blake she just happens to be there. I didnt hate her but I sure as hell wasn't impressed. Bane was much more entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons.

You should put the youtube link under a spoiler tag imo.

Even though its in jest the huge ass thumbnail could be a disservice to those who haven't seen this yet.

Fair enough. I have now Spoilered the revelation that Batman's parents were a sled the whole time.

I wasn't particularly impressed.
I found her mechanical and I thought her Catwoman lacked any sort of vision. She took what I thought was a very boring and generic approach with the character.

She's not bad. But her performance lacks the subtlety needed to pull off the shape-shifter criminal angle they were going for. Her transitions were not convincing.

I wish they'd kept the focus on Bane & Talia (not that I found Talia anything special).

I enjoyed it. Way more often than not the movie felt epic, dense, and demanding of your attention. I think told a story which made sense in the context of the other two films. It was very entertaining despite some "flaws". If those flaws really bothered some of you all that much, I'm not really sure what kind of film you were looking for.

None of the actors performances were lacking. No one nailed it like Wilkinson got Falcone (I'm biased) or Ledger with Joker. Selina Kyle and John Blake seemed a bit too functional to the plot, but there's so much going on that a lot of the characters moves did seem to feel chess-piece like. Lacking that it's fucking tense and dark and fun to watch. If I'm some sort of Nolan mark for saying that, I could really give a fuck.
