My worry is that this is a surefire thing that will be a success. It's Disney, they are the reason why your cable and satellite TV bill goes up 5% every February with out fail, because they know they are big enough to push ridiculous licensing contracts.
Other services will just become more emboldened after seeing this succeed and go full bore with their own streaming services. We already see others trying to do this, Doctor Who got pulled off of Netflix the other year just to try and make the BBC streaming service worth. It's always Sunny , the League , and other FX stuff got pulled to try and make their own worth etc.
The reason this hasn't been so bad thus far is because at least the "competing" services were terrible and there was always that feeling once Fox, BBC etc got their heads out of their ass the shows would return to Netflix.
Cord Cutting wasn't going to stay cheap for ever. The natural progression towards everyone splitting up , leaving Netflix, and making a sort of piece meal A La Carte alternative that basically ends up costing the same as your current Cable Bill was always where this was heading. Always.
It just sucks that this will in all likelihood expedite that process.
