Yeah, that quote says so much, really, about the rabid Clerith mindset. Not that they think Tifa is ugly, but that they want her to be. Because it's all about them not measuring up to the pretty girl, and wanting the hot boy who chose said hot girl instead of them.

I'm not suggesting we stop or anything -- I've just gained a curiosity about what the reason is for us to maintain an ongoing discussion when the Flat Earth Theory camp doesn't even step out of their compound.

The closest we see to debate in these parts is Que being overly generous at playing devil's advocate -- or maybe a bit too much of a sadist =P -- and presenting the various distortions to us by proxy.

Not that I don't get a kick out of posts like Que's above, but why are we still talking about the LTD? Well I am currently involved in a discussion with a couple of youtubers. They are pulling the "It's just my opinion" card. All the while spouting things like "Cloud wasn't interested in Tifa". Yeah sorry but your opinion is simply wrong.

I wonder how my attempts to get them to admit their fanon will go?

BTW so here's a question for all you that say Tifa knew Cloud so much better. In Maiden, Aerith leads Tifa to Cloud so she can reconstruct him right? Well Aerith says this:

In truth, Aerith really wanted to do it herself. But she couldn't carry out the task. That's why she entrusted Tifa with it.

It says she wanted to do it herself, but she couldn't. Aerith was unable to do this task because she can't manifest in the lifestream obviously. But she said she wanted to... so how could Aerith do it herself if she didn't know the real Cloud?

So according to the canon novella Maiden, Aerith and Tifa both knew the real Cloud.

Why do you think "physically"? Cloud is IN the Lifestream, where she is too. It's not about being physically able to help out, IMHO, but about to simply not being able to help him because she couldn't reach out for him, no matter how hard she tried. This is how I interpreted, back then when I read that thing, but maybe I was wrong and you're right. We'd need someone who read it in Japanese and can be arsed

Basically says that Aerith wanted to talk with Cloud but although she tried and tried, she couldn't reach him, he couldn't hear her because his mind was broken.

Goes on about how she misses the real Cloud, wondering if the Cloud she knew wasn't real after all, how she couldn't discern the truth anymore, and how, thinking about what she thought to be "Cloud's characteristics" she awakens Zack XD [heck it even says Zack is the same character she saw in Cloud]. Oh yeah, quite cute to say that she was comforted by his [Zack's] personality

Zack's line; he states that it's impossible for them to help Cloud, that only Tifa can - he guesses because if her memories can be transferred in Cloud's memories, then she is the one able to help him.

The passage you quoted, it's lulzier.

In truth, Aerith wanted to do it herself. But she couldn't carry on this task. This is why she was trusting Tifa. She had faith in Tifa and in all the feelings she had in her heart for Cloud [in French, this is romance-connoted BTW, sentiments unless stated otherwise are romance-connoted]. She had faith in the fact that they were only going to become one with Cloud...

Tifa serrait Clad tendrement alors qu'il revint à lui. Aerith les regarda remonter à la surface, souriant telle une mère attentionnée.

Tifa was hugging Cloud tenderly as he was coming back to his senses. Aerith watched them as they came back to the surface, smiling like a caring mother.

Sorry, I had to do it cause it's lulz. Also, Quex, since you're taking Maiden as canon, it says right after that Zack tells her he's going to sleep and Aerith can call him back if she feels lonely XD [and then Zack goes back to sleep to gather strength for that his role wasn't finished yet].

Sorry, it's just the French version that's cracking me up, but damn. This writing is SO BAD I want to cry XD [there's no CloTi that can not like what Maiden says though].

No I got it guys, but I mean but I think there's some truth to what I said as well. But just to prove I was just kidding:


In Maiden, here's what Zack and Aerith say:

"Zack... What should I do so that Cloud will know about the truth about himself? Can you tell him that he's real?"

"It's impossible for us to do it. The only one who can do it is that girl that was there with us in Nibelheim, Tifa. If the memories she has could draw out the memories in Cloud then maybe..."

Aerith asks Zack if they could just tell him he was real and he says no, they need someone who could draw out memories.

Now, she did try to call out to Cloud and he couldn't hear her because he was so messed up at the time.

She had been trying to while his body was being carried to Mideel. But with his mind shattered and filled with despair, Cloud couldn't hear Aerith's voice. No matter how much she cried out, her voice wouldn't reach Cloud just like the time when they were separated in the Forgotten City.

And it says she tried to talk to Tifa. Ultimately she ended up guiding Tifa's conscious to Cloud, so I would assume that if she could get a hold of Tifa somehow, she could have gotten a hold of Cloud as well.

She desperately tried to talk to Tifa who was about to get intoxicated by the highly concentrated Mako. Guiding her conscious, Aerith took her into Cloud's closed heart.

So it sounds like there were two things stopping Aerith here.
One is that Cloud's mind was so shattered that he couldn't hear her, and two is that they needed someone to draw out his memories.


So there, alright?

I don't know about that- Square has never made an official pairing for FF7. That's the truth. They basically said it was up to the audience to decide who they want Cloud to&#65279; be in love with, hence the ambiguous triangle, so no you're wrong.

I always believed that Cloud loved Aerith but that's me. It boils down to the gamer to decide for themselves who the protagonist should be with and SE has even said so themselves. It's lame that these flamers come in here and demand that Cloud and Tifa be together, I don't recall SE saying they were official plus, it would be stupid of SE to do that, granted they're a quarter of the company they used to be, so it's also plausible they'd f*ck up and pull something that idiotic.&#65279;

That is after being informed of the 'For the one I love' page. Amongst others. I mean that is a special kind of delusion isn't it? Not even trying to twist it. Just outright ignoring.

Well I tired one more time pointing out the 20th Anv Ultimania. And predictably this happens.

Nope, it said that their feelings matched, but that was pretty ambiguous if you ask me. Why didn't they just say Cloud&#65279; confirms his feelings for Tifa? Mind you that book also showed Aerith and Cloud on a date as well and if it was set in stone it would have been Tifa there, not Aerith. Granted SE has Lucas's ability to ruin everything good they ever created, so it wouldn't surprise me if they allowed this to happen, but it would be incredibly stupid on their part.

So the page means nothing. And SE wouldn't dare make anything official.
