I'd also like to point out, once again, that there are several months passing between the well date [yes, because it's a spot for dates] and Cloud's departure for Soldier. Explain to me how she wouldn't have known him more during those few months. Obviously, Tifa was interested before that.

In “CC” she undertakes the role of guide for the mako reactor investigation team. From her asking about Cloud to Zack and the others, you can tell she has been concerned about him for a long time.
Concerned. She wanted to know how he was doing. Not OMG did he become my hero at least?!!!1!1!1

Apart from being Cloud’s childhood friend, she is also the woman who understands him all too well and devotedly supports the mentally-weak side of him. Although she seems spirited and cheerful, she actually has a family-oriented and modest personality, often paying attention to her surroundings.
Damn, where is the manipulative mentality she's supposed to have? Also, as Ryu said, she devotedly supports the mentally-weak side of him, which doesn't seem to come altogether with the idea of a Tifa who only wants a hero in her pants. Just sayin'.

Possessing both the face of a woman and a warrior,
Cloud’s Childhood friend.
Age: 20
「 Hey, Cloud. 5 years ago ・・・・・・. ・・・・・・ No, forget it. I’m too afraid ・・・・・・ to ask. 」
Cloud's childhood friend, despite what you think. And also, yes. Too afraid. Not because her dream would shatter, but because she's not sure herself. Hell, this girl has been in a coma once, has been stabbed by Sephiroth, how can she rely on her memories when she's not so sure herself? Especially since Cloud hid himself that time, ashamed that he didn't make it into Soldier.

She was reunited with Cloud during one of AVALANCHE’s activities, and invited him to join the organization in order to watch over him after finding many strange aspects in his speech and behavior. During the time they were participating in the anti-ShinRa activities together, they ended up fighting with Sephiroth for the sake of AVALANCHE’s aims, which was to 「Save the Planet」, as well as for her and Cloud to settle their past. Although she was unable to stop his ego from crumbling and becoming Sephiroth’s puppet, she persevered in helping him stand up once again after that incident.
What is so hard to understand, I do not know. She made him join AVALANCHE because she thought he wasn't acting like himself [remember, she NEVER knew him as a hero, yet he built up that personality when he met her, because it's the idea he had of her hero... Cloud, you were doing it wrong anyway].
The battle with Sephiroth also made her help him to stand up again, find his true self in the Lifestream sequence and understand what has been really going on back then in Nibelheim. Oh, and settle their feelings along the way for each other.

Out of goodwill for Cloud, she didn’t voice out her personal thoughts. There, her suspicions about Cloud, whose strange speech and conduct conflicted with facts from the past, also . . . .
Still no manipulation, but worry and concern for Cloud, and what happened back then.

She ventured into Lifestream together with Cloud. Amidst the course of him trying to ascertain his memories,
they became aware of the thoughts/feelings which each other was holding.
There's simply no competition from the Lifestream scene onwards. Period.

I still see no hero there. Am I confused or is SE saying "Tifa loves Cloud, and will stick by him, no matter what?"

I want to see Cloud — Marlene’s honest words, which reflected what Tifa felt in her own heart, caused her to smile. The present Tifa isn’t just Cloud’s childhood friend, but also the mother of the ‘family’ they were forming in Edge.
Do I even need to comment that one?
Ultimania said:
Even though being burdened with painful “memories” is the same for everyone - Unable to do much for Cloud who is always dragging around his regrets for the past, she subconsciously raises her voice.
And gets him out of his funk. Also, acts like a girlfriend.

Appeared in the chapter which depicted the details of the Nibelheim incident five years prior to FFVII. Saved from an attack by monsters at Mt. Nibel thanks to a Turk, she took the opportunity to assume the role of a guide for the Mako Reactor investigation team. She seems to be in a state of worry about Cloud, but is able to hear about him from bits and pieces of her conversation with the Turk.
Worry. Not "*_________* My hero is he?"

In Crisis Core
Holding the hope of a reunion in her heart,
The young lady who waited for the SOLDIERs.
Age: 15
She was placed as the ‘village girl who met the protagonist Zack at Nibelheim where he had been assigned to’. When she heard that there would be SOLDIERs coming to the village, she looked forward to being reunited with a Cloud who had became excellent/praiseworthy. However, she was unable to meet with him and though disappointed deep down, she lead the SOLDIERs towards the Nibel Reactor. Alongside the figure from Cloud’s recollection scene in FFVII, Tifa’s situation prior to Mt. Nibel and the Reactor is revealed.
And because I'm not of bad faith, here is what you hope for
However, it's not because he hasn't became excellent that she's disappointed, but because she can't meet him [hence the title: holding the hope of a reunion in her heart].
All the others mentions of Cloud back then show that she was worried about him, not that she wanted to see him as a SOLDIER.
· FFVII – Mideel
She was reunited with Cloud, who had been poisoned by Mako. She separated from her companions in order to nurse him.
· FFVII – Junon
Falls into the Lifestream. She finds out about the truth of five years ago in Cloud’s spirit world and helps him regain his true self.
[Tifa's map]. If she were so horrible and manipulative, she wouldn't do that. She nurses him, and helps him to regain his true personality. I wonder why the Cleriths loath so much Tifa, that she should have told him the truth before? Is that because the Lifestream scene is so clear about Cloud's true feeling and the bond that you can see between Cloud and Tifa is revealed? Without it, it'd be a much easier case for the Cleriths, I bet.

The only woman who knows Cloud’s past.
In FF7, Tifa is the only one who knows Cloud’s childhood, and furthermore, she holds the key to people involved in the story of Nibelheim’s burning down, which is also depicted in CC. She and Cloud came to realize their feelings for each other in the end of the story, and live together in AC and DC.
I wonder why people still think that there's no canon depicted by SE because SE seems adamant in having Cloud and Tifa realize their feelings for each other and live together.

CC Complete Guide Keywords said:
Cloud and Tifa
Cloud and Tifa are childhood friends, both born in Nibelheim. When Cloud leaves the village, he calls Tifa out to the water tower and promises that he will become a SOLDIER. At the same time, he is also made by Tifa to promise that he will come to rescue her if she is ever in trouble.
Following this, the pair experience many hardships, such as the Nibelheim incident which also appears in CC, and the Jenova War in FFVII, and through these the distance between them shortens. And in AC they live together, with Barret’s daughter Marlene and a boy named Denzel. Though there was also a period later where Cloud lived away from them after having contracted Geostigma, they finally reach a commune with each over and return to living together once again. In DC, they rush together to Vincent’s aid, in his battle against Deep Ground SOLDIER.
SE soooo haven't got any canon pairing that they made an entry for Cloud and Tifa in the CC Complete's Guide Keywords, but none about Cloud and Aerith. Oh, the lulz. Stating how much, from the beginning 'til then, through many hardship, they still are together, as a pair. I wonder how much SE must spell it?

- The line “Words aren’t the only way to talk someone how you feel,” right? That was quite a mature conversation for a FF game.
Kitase: But I remember having to get another version that was too intense toned down.
Nojima: The original idea was more extreme. The plan was to have Cloud walk out of the Chocobo stable on board the Highwind, followed by Tifa leaving while checking around, but Kitase turned it down. But even with the line in question, maybe at that time none of us thought it would be something so important (laughs).
Yes, they had sex. In case anyone still doubts it. And really, if anyone think Tifa would have sex with anyone just because he's in SOLDIER... Then I think that person would not deserve my attention. Same for Cloud, he wouldn't do it with Tifa just because she looks hot.

For the one I love
Through the long journeys, the love of the protagonists develop. Occasionally they become separated, but the two’s value to one another gives them the great strength to overcome whatever crisis may come.
The night before the final battle
Thanks to Tifa, Cloud regains himself, and before the final battle with Sephiroth, without using words, he confirms with her that their feelings match.
[Amongst other canon pairings].
Yep, no friendship, no aw poor Tifa, sorry.. nope. For the one I love, explicit, and explicitely said that they have sex [once again] and that they are in love with each other, that those feelings aren't of friendship or whatever.
Now go on, continue your debates, but if you want to resort to actual facts and arguments, just go and pick them up from what SE said, not from "this is how I feel..". SE said many things regarding the love triangle in FFVII, and many times they hammered Cloud and Tifa through the roof. I'm not saying Aerith's not important to Cloud, because
she is, but it's not so much romantically than a precious person. The real Cloud has always been about Tifa, period.
