So far my predictions for awards are spot-on. Though that's just because it's kind of predictable what they're looking for in all of these categories.
TLOU2 got Best Direction (lol) so I'd say the chances of GoT getting GOTY just got a bit higher. That tends to be their GOTY runner up award, though not always the case. FFVIIR and Hades picked up best RPG and best Indie so those are their consolation prizes.
Edit: TLOU2 it is. Guess GoT got majorly snubbed.

I mean, I wasn't expecting FFVII-R to get best RPG lol. So I really was pleasantly surprised by that. So if TLOU2 gets best game of the year, I can accept that.

Whether FFVIIR-2 gets awards or not I think is largely dependent on what other games get released the year it comes out. As an anime-influenced JRPG it's always going to have stiff competition from grounded AAA western titles.I mean, I wasn't expecting FFVII-R to get best RPG lol. I feel like the installment that covers more of FFVII's world will be a much worthier and likelier winner. When the real shit starts happening outside of Midgar, that's when it's really gonna shine.

So did TLOU2 not deserve it because it only covers part 2
?I get it though, there's a lot to come so judging it now feels wrong. It's still a very well made game though, regardless of opinions on the actual story.

Both great roles, and great performances. I think the winning edge may have been the role itself, for the demands it places on the audience.

I am happy that Ghosts of Tsushima and FF7R won in the respective categories I was hoping they would win in

Besides Best Game Direction (and maybe Narrative), I don’t really take issue with with TLOU2 winning any of its categories in regards to the quality/content of the game in of itself, I am more unenthused about its wins because of Naughty Dog’s shitty development practices (i.e. crunch) effectively being rewarded/ignored. It’s one of those things I personally just can’t separate from when it comes giving rewards/recognition.
