The Legend of Zelda (General)

A Link to the Past is the best in the series, I think. The new game looks pretty good, but it's kind of weird seeing the style of ALttP translated to 3D. I wonder how much of the overworld(s) will be new or different. As much as I like nostalgia, I'm not sure how I would feel about not having a completely new overworld. I mean, even Ages and Seasons were completely different. But most of all, I hope the dungeons are good.

Also, I see they brought back the most annoying boss. If Mothra turns out to be in it, too, then they're just straight-up trolling. :monster:

Judging from the first video Tets posted it looks like the overworld isn't 100% identical; there are some locations I don't recognise and some that seem to have changed from the SNES version.

Anyway, do want. Will probably end up getting a 3DS at some point for this plus the massive backlog of DS games I've yet to play.

In other news over the last several weeks I've played Link's Awakening, (most of) Oracle of Ages and Seasons (I got fed up and skipped the dance minigames), and The Minish Cap. Great games, all. :monster: Will probably go back and finish the Wii games soon.

^oh those fucking dance mini games in the oracles. When I get arthritis in my thumbs I'm going to sue nintendo.

As far as a Link between Worlds goes, I'll probably get it. I just hope its got enough new stuff to keep me entertained.

The Wind Waker remake, its kind of good as I havent seen my copy since my brother lent it to his friend in 2005. At the same time I'd rather they made some new stuff, even if it had the same exact style as Wind Waker.

Ah, yes. But now that I've watched the second video, I have to say the dungeons in A Link Between Worlds don't even remotely feel like the original game. Which more than makes up for the similar overworlds, I think. If a sequel resembled the original too closely, you'd feel ripped off. They remind me a lot more of Super Mario 64, to be honest, than the original LttP. Lots of platforming, apparently. Which is honestly pretty cool; most of the Zelda games haven't had much platforming.

Well now, I'll add that to my list of games to get once I snag my 3DS. Then I'll just have to split my time between Hyrule and Kalos.

Zelda games doesn't have a timeline, its just a new story in each games, kinda like the Final Fantasy series with exceptions like X and X-2, and Zelda 1 and 2 on Nintendo.

I like "Zelda: A Link to the Past", just hearing that "Slluh" is so cool.

Wrong. There is an official timeline that has been revealed in great detail. It's all in the Hyrule Historia. The timeline starts with Skyward Sword, then comes Minish Cap, then Four Swords, then Ocarina of Time, then it gets complicated.

Isn't that like playing Mario games for the story, just saying :P

I'm shocked and appalled none of you linked to the fantastic GT video explaining the Zelda timeline :monster:

The reflection in the water disappears on the other side of the island. Took me quite a while too :monster:

I noticed subconsciously the first time in that room. Didn't know what, just knew the second I crossed the island that something was wrong.

Is it just me, or does the new Link look female?

The game looks beautiful. They really perfected those shaders

He does seem slightly more feminine? Also, blue costume. Might just be a temporary outfit before he gets the green tunic as was done in previous games, but...with the dramatic cloak throwing reveal I have a feeling they might be going for this as the standard outfit, break a few traditions.
