Worst thing is if they justify these possible cuts with the new story plot lines...

They teased that plot by cutting to Barret when Elmyra talks about Aerith not being her daughter by blood, I think the Dyne plot will be fine

Yeah, they have repeatedly stated iconic moments won't be cut, so I doubt any of the other party character's major character beats/mini-arcs are going to cut.

I think people only seriously thought that in scenarios where four parts total were being speculated on.

For a trilogy the second part can feasibly end at either at the minimum the Temple of the Ancients, and/or then Aerith's death/Forgotten Capital, and/or then Weapons Awakening/The Black Materia being activated.

I think part 2 only has 2 viable choices to end, the forgotten capital or the northern crater.

And while I think the crater makes the most sense for the most Empire Strikes Back ending, I think that might be stretching it. I mean, I'm still shocked they're actually gonna do this in 3 parts. Are they really gonna fit all these locations into a single game? Is part 3 just gonna be recycled locations then?
I think forgotten capital is now the most likely and best choice.

Temple of the Ancients makes zero sense to be frank, that's a wet blanket of an ending
