I find it to be quite hilarious, actually. :monster:

I think it would be funny to see a Crisis Core vid of Zack pranking Seph. yes/yes?

We should find it, since this is the Sephiroth club, and Mako is out on the prowl. :duhard:

I understood we were getting more content with ACC, but I had no idea it would involve this much on Sephiroth. I would love to get my hands on this. Any idea where it can be purchased?

In PlayAsia, for instance:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-lt-77-2-49-en-15-final+fantasy-70-1fhb-43-7y.html
[/quote]

I would also look at Yesasia.com ( they do offer free shipping and sometimes are cheaper that play-asia...coughCloudsmessagecough.)

But I know a place cheaper than both sites for cloud's message but I can't post it here due to the "other stuff they sell". :monster:

I can't wait to see more sephy in ACC.

What other stuff do they sell?

A naughty thought just crossed my mind, but i'll keep it to myself. :monster:

Anyway, i thought that, since this is a Sephiroth club, people should start by saying what they like about Sephiroth.

So...

...What do you like about Sephiroth?

I, for instance, like the way that, even though he's absent for most of FFVII and AC, his presence was felt everywhere and everything was in turmoil because of him.

I also like the fact that we can see Sephiroth in two prespectives, as an hero and the ominous being that brought despair to the entire world.

His background is also very interesting and, though we got a little bit more info about it with the Compilation titles (specially CC) there's still a lot of mistery surrounding him. That's other thing i like about Sephiroth, that mistery aura that surrounds his character.

I like his personality, too. His calm yet intimidating demeanour; his coldness; his intelligence; his manipulative and a bit saddistic nature; his majestic way of speech...

His japanese voice really gives me chills down my spine. Morikawa really did a good work in catching the essence of Sephiroth's character in his voice. As for George Newbern, he's not bad, but i think that his voice is more suitable for a sane Sephiroth than for the Post-Nibelheim Sephiroth.

In a more plot-specific point, i like how Sephiroth was able to go beyond the laws of Nature and cheat death twice, while at the same time becoming even more powerful, by absorbing the knowledge held in the Lifestream during five years (FFVII) and, through Geostigma, corrupting a large amount of Lifestream and bend it to his will, in a sense creating his own Lifestream and achieving, to an extent, what he wanted to achieve in FFVII.

Wich leads us to his strength. I admire Sephiroth's strength and his skill with the Masamune is truly awesome!

In the fight against Cloud in AC, we can see how fast, strong and skillfull Sephiroth is, since he uses all his physical prowess against Cloud (he was not holding back in terms of pshysical strength as many believe).

The limits of his true power, however, is something that is still unknown.

Even in AC, where Sephiroth reached his highest peak, we only got some glimpses at his formidable power, mainly when he covers the sky over Midgar with the Negative Lifestream with just a wave of his hand and when he brings down the top of Shinra Building by just raising slightly his arms. These two events were two subtle, classy and tasteful ways of showing how powerful Sephiroth is, without falling in exageration.

And not knowing the limits of Sephiroth's power is something i also like about him, since it only serves to increase the mistery aura that is a part of Sephiroth's character.

Concerning Sephiroth's design, i like how they made him a misterious, intimidating yet graceful figure, specially in AC, with his otherworldy and somewhat adrogynous appearence.

I also like his uniform very much, specially its depiction in the Compilation, with a subtle yet classy restyling(the KH versions were horrible, though).

The Masamune is also awesome, even though it has a very simple design, when compared with Genesis' Rapier for instance.

And we can't talk about Sephiroth without reffering his wing. I love his single black wing and the symbolism behind it. It symbolizes Sephiroth's condition as a fallen hero/angel, but, together with his black uniform and his sword, Sephiroth can be seen as an Angel of Death, as a modern interpretation of the Grim Reaper.

In a sense, i'm kinda disapointed that they took Sephiroth's uniqueness as the One Winged Angel to create Angeal and the J-pop version of Sephiroth. Oh well...

Finally, other thing i like about Sephiroth, as I kinda reffered above, is the symbolism behind his character, from his name to his hair. :monster:

These are the reasons why Sephiroth, together with Kefka and Kuja, is my favourite character, not only from Final Fantasy but from all media in general!

And it's because I like Sephiroth so much that i don't want him to return again.

What i've seen of Sephiroth in the past 11 years was more than enough for me.

The only thing that was lacking, at least for me, was to see Sephiroth fighting as the true One Winged Angel, wich will happen in ACC.

Plot-wise, Sephiroth already left his mark in the world and everyone in it and his shadow still lingers everywhere, even though he's dead. The person behind the name Sephiroth will always be a part of Gaia's history. Even thousands of years later, his legacy of destruction is still visible. That's why he will never be a memory...

If they make him return again, i think that it will be overkill and will only serve to diminuish Sephiroth as a character.

Let Sephiroth die gracefully while being remembered as the majestic being/badass he is.

well it's a Doujinshi site, that's all I'm going to say :monster:

What do I like most about good o'l Sephiroth.

-I like how he is a quit person, but you can see the emotions in his eyes(IE when he talk to Genesis at the reacter, and when he was looking at the dead Angeal copy......)
-I like how he dresses too :monster:

I'd like to join! I've been a huge Sephiroth fan for years. (Since the original game, not Crisis Core. But that didn't hinder my liking of him.) And I'd like to think I'm sane. :monster:

And there's no way I could rival your "why do I like him" post, Dark and Divine, but I suppose I like him for these reasons: I love characters that have a downfall. I love analyzing the reasons behind it, seeing how different they were from before, etc. Also, I like his back story, even if it is a bit generic. (Not knowing who his father is, never knowing his mother, being used by ShinRa, and so on.) Then, I love how he loves playing with people's minds after he loses his own. His relationship with Cloud is so interesting~

...And I guess I do just love his design, hehe.

I never looked at the Reunion Files book scans before. Morikawa looks different from what I imagined. His voice does match, however. Newbern's not bad, just boring, in my opinion. I actually wonder how Lance Bass would have done with more lines.

Yeah, D&D's post is beyond epic. :P

Why do I like Sephiroth's character? Because he has a more detailed motives than most of the villians I knew of at the time. I love my crazies but sometimes you want something a bit deeper. Sephiroth dosen't just have motive, his motives and thus has goals change throughout the game of FF7 and so does a bit of his personality.

I could quote the cheapy reasons of long hair, long sword, capes, etc. And while that helps a bit, most people who are interested in the character for that have long since fled to newer games and other bishie type characters. For my part, I've been a fan since I saw a picture of him in a game magazine over ten years.

And while I have other favorite characters (such as D!) Sephiroth will always be a character I'm fascinated with.

Thanks to you both for the praise towards my post! :monster:

One thing i forgot to mention is Sephiroth's musical themes.

While not relevant to Sephiroth's character itself, his themes provided an atmosphere really adequate to Sephiroth's actions and words.

For instance, in the Nibelheim Flashback. The bit with Cloud/Zack and Sephiroth in Shinra Mansion's basement, after Sephiroth finding out the "truth"...

Sephiroth: "Out of my way! I'm going to see my mother."

And then, "Those Chosen by the Planet" starts at full force...

The determination in this line, together with the frightful tones in the music, gave me goosebumps.

That was what made "Those Chosen by the Planet" so memorable. Its beats, together with the deep chorus gave this theme a ominous, terrible feel, that made Sephiroth appearences even more frightening and menacing.

Next, "Birth of God".

While not very memorable, imo, its fast tunes imposed some rythim to the battle against Bizarro Sephiroth. It kinda makes one to be fast and determined in his/her choices for the battle.

Then, there's "One Winged Angel"...

The lyrics, the chorus, the epic feel of it, made me feel like an huge responsability was over my shoulders.

I was a newbie to FF back then, so the battle against Safer Sephiroth was very hard to me and the music, together with the uncertainty of the outcome of the battle, made me tremble a few times and even feel some despair as i was watching my characters being killed one after the other.

It's not a nice feeling to see one of my characters die and start to listen "Veni, veni, venias...ne me mori facias..."

As for "Advent: One Winged Angel", it really blew me off. The way they mixed rock with the orchestra and the chorus still surprises me, even though i listen to it so many times.

It's something really epic and fearsome, worthy of the final battle between Sephiroth and Cloud.

And finally, "The World's Enemy" (CC's version of "One Winged Angel")...

While not quite as epic as the original OWA or the Ac's version, it was still quite memorable and with a fresh feel into it.

So, that's my take on Sephiroth's theme songs. They are all quite good in their own right and, while not contributing directly to Sephiroth's character, they certainly made his appearences even more ominous and frightening, in my opinion.

My favorite verison of Sephiroth's music is the AC ONe Winged Angel. I mean, the timing of the music was so in key with the movie itself, and the way it melded with the battle that I was star-struck by it.

I also really, really love the Chosen by the Planet too. As with D&D, it was a wonderfully set up scene, to show the very beginning of Sephiroth's true descent into madness, and the bell tolls just sent shivers through my spine.

Epic!

I've liked all versions of One Winged Angel, but the original is my favorite. :monster:

But I don't see why the Crisis Core version got so much hate. I realize it's not quite as epic, but I still find it an enjoyable listen.

Has anyone else listened to Black Wing Metamorphosis from OCRemix? I love it so much~ The Ultimate One Winged Angel remix is pretty neat too, but I have no clue where it originated from.

While I find Those Chosen By the Planet a bit boring by itself, the scenes they used it with match perfectly. It does really set the mood!
