The Pros of Final Fantasy X-2

*nods to the Best Ending topic*

FFX-2 has gotten criticism among fans and gamers since it came out. Why? There are some legitimate reasons..most of them aren't brought up by haters who don't actually have arguments.

But let's be positive. talk about what you liked about the game.

I'll start shall I?

I liked the Normal Ending. Not a big fan of the Good or Perfect Ending but the one with just the Crimson Squad members speaking and Yuna's wonderful line "This is my story..it's going to be a good one." Also the ending theme was magnificent.

Speaking of music, X-2 does have a good soundtrack.

"It's all J-Pop crap!" Yuna's Ballad is one of the most beautiful songs in the series.

And so what if some tracks are poppy? Rikku's Theme is awesome!

Finally, what game be complete without an awesome evil-y theme? X-2 provides.

I also like a lot more things about X-2 but I figure I'll let others go. lol Don't want to list everything great about the game in one post.

FFX-2's storyline isn't as strong or melodramatic as FFX's, but its still appealing and I love it. It's lovably campy and lighthearted, and I enjoy seeing the ramifications of a new age in Spira..where Yevon isn't controlling everyone by the throat.

It's got wonderful gameplay and replayability and the optional bosses are actual challenges. So yeah, its a good game in my book.

^Memories of Lightwaves. I shed a few tears during the opening. I liked the soundtrack, too. ^^

I have to go refresh my memory of the game in a few spots before I talk more. I played through it twice(to see everything), but that was years ago.

X-2 really is a good game, though. The feel is very, very different, but if you stick with it, it's good. Awesome.

Yeaaah!!!

Let'seee, I love the gameplay. It was so fun to level up my dresspheres and try and beat every boss in the game (especially in Bevelle). And I like all the endings. Granted they were cheesy but everything in the whole game was cheesy so I didn't care that much.

I also love how they made it new game accessible! That way I can beat up anybody with all the souped up accessories and leveled up dresspheres possible. :joy: AKA great replay value for me.

Seto is correctabout seeing the new age in Spira being interesting. It was the first thing I fell in love with in regards to the game as I found the Yevon religion the most intriguing part of X's storyline. Seeing this new world where everything is falling apart because Yevon is gone made me find a newfound goodness in how tightly it ruled the planet ya know?

Also, the Crimson Squad was a good subplot. I liked all three members and how they took pivotal roles in Spira's leadership. Baralai is teh s3x but not gonna get into that. =P

Oh and my favorite dressphere for Rikku was Samurai. It's so cute how she can't really hold up the katana. ^^

One of my favorite dress spheres were the Gun Mage, Dark Knight, and Berserker. They were awesome...and very nice to look at :monster:

Loved the mascot dress spheres too. Very hilarious.

One thing FFX-2 did that we've never had again, was unique character dialogue between team mates depending on what enemies they fought, and their current health and statistics. It's really fascinating how much dialogue there is between YRP depending on who they fight, what point of the game its in, what dress sphere they're in, what level they are, and what their health is at. I mean, that level of detail and variety really makes me enjoying playing because its just hilarious seeing what crazy, funny shit they'll say to each other.

Sadly no other FF has had such a dialogue system again.

Baralai was teh sex wasn't he? :3 I only watch Chuck just to see his voice actor! :monster:

My favorite dressphere was The Mascot, but it's really hard to choose overall. They all are unique and good for a certain girl, so I can only say like...I like White Mage for Yuna and Dark Knight for Paine. I can't choose which is best overall. :S

Berserker Rikku...she sure can breakdance.

It's one of the many reasons X-2 had the best gameplay in the series.

Oh and did anyone else ever hear Yuna's Japanese VA sing this special song?

Speaking of VAs, Yuna's English one did much better in X-2.

Ya know...everything was better about Yuna in X-2. IMo anyway.

I liked the dress-spheres. And I loved the whole ShuyinxLenne thing. 1,000 words was an amazing song, too.

One of the endings made me cry... it was...
The one where she says she loves Tidus, but she's standing there all alone. Such a bittersweet endings. *sobs*
I will always love that ending. <3 Of course, I love the good ending too. So cute. The perfect ending sucked, imo. =/

@Masamune

ROTFLMAO, no. I was referring to the move Kenshiro did on the Golan Colonel
that caused his entire skeleton to fly out of his body.
That's like..one of my favorite techniques of his.

But that was pretty fucking hilarious. I'm trying not to laugh to loud at work now.

On topic, I think FFXII and FFX-2 have the best gameplay of the entire series. FFX-2's is the best in terms of ATB, and FFXII is the best in regards to not being the usual turn based stuff in FF. If for some reason you dislike ATB, then yeah, FFXII is better. But I think both are equally enjoyable and well done.

Yeah, but if YOU tried it, that video would be the result - was my point. :D

Well, it's been awhile since I played FFX-2 (thankgod). I remember the Dresspheres being fun until the novelty began to wore off. Also, you can grind in FFXII without having to press the mute button (unlike FFX-2). I'm sorry, but that had one of the worst soundtracks in the series.

ROTFL, touche :monster:

Anyways, I could see myself being a practitioner of the Nanto Seiken and thus I wouldn't have to worry about those damn pressure points. :awesome:

The best thing about the dress spheres and stuff, is that if you get tired of them doing their magical girl transformation you can turn it off. I mean, that's really cool they allowed that. You can skip cutscenes and transformations if need be. I like that freedom.

I can agree that a lot of the tracks on the FFX-2 sound track were either hit or miss. Some of the tracks were awesome, and then some of them were just bland. Some of the tracks I loved were "The Farplane," "Den of Woe," the battle themes, and Rikku and Paine's themes.

Power to the Nanto! You'll be looking forward to the later episodes then. But perhaps this is visitor message territory. :D

I'll give it this much: I think the Macalania Forest track is brilliant. One of the rare gems of the soundtrack, and better than the FFX version. Apart from that...blergh.

I don't like Pain'es Theme at all. Yuna's Theme was better IMO. :)

And Den of Woe just was Shuyin's Theme as far as I recall.

Another great track....

Eh. I could write a college thesis on the shit I felt wrong about FF12's gameplay.

Do you realize how THRILLED I would be if I could write college theses on video games? Damn that would be awesome. A whole lot easier too.

Anyway, yeah X-2 had some real flaws but it gets unnecessarily slammed by the bandwagoners.

I actually kinda liked mission setup. It was pretty satisfying when the Mission Complete thing showed up.

The music did have some highlights, but I wasn't really a fan for the most part.

But yeah, it does have the best battle system in the series. XIII might be setting up to dethrone it, but I dunno. For me it largely depends on how controllable the other members of your party are.

But not only was the battle system frantic, the in-battle job system was a really cool improvement on an already cool system.

The perfect ending is bullshit, but I liked the good ending.

In fact that whole mission, Infiltrate Bevelle, was voted the best mission in all of X-2 on another forum I'm on. I definitely agree.
Good cause it IS the best :monster:
