You're so much better off than my parents it isn't even funny. I haven't been on a vacation since I was ten, I got allowance for all of three years and I still had to do all of my chores. *pouts somewhere*
The chores are to teach you skills you'll need to know when you're older and to teach you an appreciation for what you have and how you have to work to get things. I highly doubt your parents conceived you and are allocating roughly a million dollars over the course of 18 years just to have you do their dishes. It seems to me like the ungrateful one here is the child.
It wasn't that they went on vacations without me, they just couldn't afford it. So I didn't care. Course, my parents got married and left college, so it's technically their own fault.
