The a Meteor thing is a great spot. It will only be a reference, though, as the Plate had been evacuated and all hell had broken loose weather-wise by the time the Lifestream converged. The colour scheme is a clear nod to that so I'll write s line or two about it.

The internet is breaking.
I imagine nothing from the pre-rendered trailer will end up in the game. Why a black feather, the winged statue, and the spilled flower? Three totally distinct images designed to tease us.

From the trailer I took the two soldiers as Biggs and Jessie. And they are scaling the tower hence why Wedge ain't there as he's on his ass at the bottom The stairs that they're climbing and the shinra chopper above seem to confirm that for me. When I saw the flower, the angel and the feather I instantly thought Phoenix down. Then the terrifying thoughts of square destroying my childhood occurred and I had to stop watching the trailer over and over again for a few hours lol.
In fact.. Looking back to the flower and the feather if you pause the video you have the green tint from the life stream on the left then a live flower (not a wilted one), then the angel then the feather before finally a red tint. Could be a 'circle of life' type thing. Also the flower looks like a lily which I always associated with death. Perhaps I'm reading to much into things..

Honestly, I could have made the image a whole lot prettier by spending more time on the text, but the important thing is that we can now actually read it XD. The original font is some variation of a ye olde english style with less serif, and the letters individually stand out from the back (as though they've been carved from the stone) but I mean... really to get that to come across you'd have to redraw the whole thing.
The same thing should exist in Crisis Core though.

The corresponding location, up the stairs, in Crisis Core is inaccessible in-game. I looked at the area in Noesis (file2085 in the English European version of Crisis Core).

It certainly looks purple/blue. Which goes against him claiming he's first class which is black if I remember.
Also.. Purely speculation. Barret and Cloud are walking back to 7th heaven after the first reactor. Hence why you only see the two of them and you can see the pillars that support the plate first, then the slums, then the characters.

Interesting catch, Tets. Between that and the old school Buster Sword, it's almost like they're going with Dissidia Cloud.

Buster Sword does kinda sorta retcon the after-credits cinematic of CC, unless the modification comes a little later, which I find unlikely.
In fact, I would love so much if it was noted in-game that Cloud had ended up at the trainstation with full SOLDIER uniform and modified it later on, before his first mission as a mercenary. Buster Sword could then be modified later on (if that's ever to happen and it's not like that from the beginning), perhaps after running into someone who recognized the weapon during his first mission?

Shademp or D&D(EDIT:S&G), not sure which, pointed out that it actually looks like the bolts were put on the hilt OVER the Compilation decorated hilt. And that's pretty fascinating to me.
