I've decided after editing this post I can't really describe this properly...

They just look funny to me. :P
As you put it so simply, I can't help but agree. :awesome: The new plastic Grey Knight Terminators lack some of the gravitas of the metal models released with the Daemonhunters codex.

I do get the feeling sometimes that the sculptors get a little too fixated on the variety possible with plastic minatures, so that they don't focus so much on making them with strong postures. Or something.

And, OMG!!! It's possible if you have Inquisitor Cortez as your HQ choice to make a 1,500 point army of just him and 40 Jokaero!!!! XD My thanks to the guy at the till in my local Games Workshop for pointing that out.

Yes, different Inquisitors have different profiles... And the Ordo Xenos Inquisitors heft Dark Eldar weaponry! There's going to be a special Ordo Xenos character at some point! HELL YEAH

More detailed analysis later---<3

Have the points costs changed much, or is a grey knights army going to be really small if you don't recruit some guard? That was my problem playing them, needed some canon fodder so the Tau wouldn't take 70% of my army in the first turn.

Grey Knights in power armour are now 20pts - that's 5pts cheaper - and Grey Knights in Terminator armour are now 40pts - 6pts cheaper. Also, you no longer have to pay extra for the Justicars (sergeants).

And Grey Knights are the only Troops choice, unless you take Inquisitor Coteaz (not Cortez, like I said Saturday XD), in which case Inquisitorial Henchmen can be taken as Troops.

I'm still a little overwhelmed by the options available. I'm collecting this army, but I don't think I'll just collect it to a points cost. My first goal is to raise a 1000 points force, assess it's strengths and failings, and then add another 500 points to enhance/cover them. After that, I'll just add random shit.

The Inquisitors alone - you can actually use an Ordo Malleus Radical in this force. That's right, the Grey Knights will fight alongside an Inquisitor with a Daemonhost in his retinue, and a Daemonsword in his hand. I have background ideas for a reformed Radical Malleus Inquisitor, a Xenos Inquisitor who spends most of their time studying the Tau ...

Anything that you guys are curious about, I'll do my best to answer. In the meantime, here's a few particularly OMG moments from the codex:

1) the current Supreme Grand Master (Chapter Master), Kaldor Draigo, was raised to his position after his predecessor was killed by Mortarion, Daemon Primarch of the Death Guard. Draigo's first act was to face Mortarion and his bodyguard alone, defeat them, and carve his predecessor's name onto Mortarion's heart before banishing them.

2) the Grey Knights either kill or mind-rape any Guardsmen who see them, and mind-wipe most of the Space Marines who meet them.

3) the Grey Knights were founded while the Horus Heresy was still ongoing. To keep the new chapter hidden from the combatants, Titan (the moon of Saturn) was moved completely into the Warp until the time of the Second Founding.

4)
Only the Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights knows how to open the box, and he will do so only when all hope for the future of humanity seems lost. The Terminus Decree is the ultimate sanction of the Grey Knights, a secret so vast it could bring the Imperium to its knees, or save it in its darkest hour. The exact nature of the document is unknown, and the only clue to its contents lies in the box's golden seal. It is whispered that it is the exact match of another seal, found only in one place in all the Imperium's many scattered worlds: the Emperor's Golden Throne.
They have the off button for the Golden Throne?! :O

I have missed a few big releases recently. This should bring you all up to date. As there's been a lot of Warhammer Fantasy Battles material released, I'll create headers for each subject in the style of that world.

The new Tomb Kings army was released back in May (eep!). The keywords the designers worked on were bone and stone. The legions available to Tomb Kings players are much the same as they were before - the major change is that Tomb Kings chariots are now counted as chariots, not as exclusive light chariots.

Stone, however... There has been an increase in the number of constructs available to Tomb Kings players. For those of you unaware, constructs are those models such as the Ushabti and Giant Scorpions; animated statues from Nehekhara's past. This category of troop has been expanded.

First to note is the Necrotect; a reanimated Khemrian workman who, in life, constructed the great statues that now march to war as constructs. These artisans give any construct within 12" the ability to regenerate on a dice roll on 6+.

Next up are the two serpent units; the Necropolis Knights and the Sepulchral Stalkers. The Necropolis Knights are members of the Tomb Guard who, in life, became so enamoured with war that they could no longer protect their liege in battle. Some of these chose the ritual which turned them into Necropolis Knights. Seeking the statues known as Necroserpents, they let the poison which dripped from the Necroserpent's fangs into their veins. This lead to a long, painful death, after which they were interred in coffins at the base of the Necroserpent. Now the spirit of the dead warrior invigorates both bone and construct, riding to war on the back of the stone serpent.

The Sepulchral Stalkers were used as boundary markers in the kingdoms of Nehekhara. Now, they have become animated. They burrow beneath the sands, only to rise at the feet of any interlopers. They have the ability to make a shooting attack called Transmogrifying Gaze. At a distance of 8" or less, this S1 attack strikes against the target's Initiative value. If they fail, they are turned into lumps of sand which disperse with the slightest desert wind... Both Necropolis Knights and Sepulchral Stalkers are made from the same kit.

Now, the big daddies of the Khemrian war machine: the Khemrian Warsphinx and the dread Necrosphinx. The Warsphinx is a monstrous mount, either with a normal crew as a Special choice, or as a mount choice for a Tomb King or Prince. The Necrosphinx, however, is a true monster. All constructs are animated by the spirits of Khemrian warriors. All except the Necrosphinx, which is animated by a dark spirit from the Khemrian underworld. The Necrosphinx has one of its attacks rolled separately each turn - this is a S10 Decapitation Strike, which benefits from the Heroic Killing Blow special rule.

Both sphinxes are made from the same kit.

Citadel Finecast is a revolution in Citadel models. In short, where previously a model would have been available in metal, it will now be available as a Finecast model, which is cast in resin. The two main advantages of resin over metal is that it holds more intricate detail, and that it is easier to make conversions with plastic models.

From now on, Citadel Miniatures will no longer be making metal models. Those models that would have been metal are being released in resin, while the older metal models are being gradually retired and replaced with resin versions. Finecast blister packs feature packaging more like the boxsets, with a plastic sheet showing a 'Eavy Metal painted version of the model.

This counts across the whole range, Warhammer, 40K and Lord of the Rings.

Around the time that Finecast was rolled out, GW also released the new models for the Dark Eldar Haemonculii covens - Wracks, Grotesques, Talos, Chronos and the Haemonculii themselves.

AFAIK, Magestrom is a term I created. :awesome: Storm of Magic is a new expansion for Warhammer (from now on, Storm of Magic refers to the game, while storm of magic refers to the background). In a storm of magic, the winds of Magic run riot. From one turn to the next, a different lore can be in the ascendant. In game, this is represented by a spinner wheel. The way to win a Storm of Magic game is to control the most number of Arcane Fulcrums - twisted pieces of architecture that burst from the land during a storm of magic (available as terrain kits).

Also, Storm of Magic allows you to include huge freakin' monsters in your army. So far released are the chimera, the basilisk and the manticore (the lattermost also available as a mount for a Chaos Lord). Games Workshop have also made Finecast versions of the Albion campaign (can't recall the name, CBA to look it up) special miniatures, the Truthsayer, Dark Emissary and Fenbeast.

There are also special rules that allow your army to bind members of the magically charged races - Daemons of Chaos, Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts - to your army. However, even the strongest of bindings can't overcome sheer dislike; each turn you must roll to decide the strength of your alliance. If it degenerates too far, your "allies" take their leave from the battle.

And the Vampire Counts get new releases. There is a new model for the Necromancer, true enough, but there is more. The Cairn Wraith and Tomb Banshee also get new models - however, the latest White Dwarf also includes rules that allow you to field them as Hero choices (the current army book makes a unit of Wraiths a Rare choice, with the Banshee as a champion upgrade). Both rulesets are official and viable.

The real treat is the new Zombie Dragon kit. The Zombie Dragon itself looks truly decrepit - unlike the old model, which just looked slightly moth-eaten. The rider is based on the Blood Dragon line - for those of you who don't know, the current army book does away with the focus on different bloodlines. Instead it features groups of vampiric powers, allowing you to create vampires with a mix of bloodline abilities.

And then, there's the new monster: the Terrorgheist. A bat the size of a dragon (!!), reanimated by the blood of a Strigoi (yes, they're back, too) vampire. It has a magically enhanced sonic shriek, which is empowered by how many Wounds it has left and strikes against the target's Leadership.

The Sisters of Battle are receiving an official codex - however, it's being published in this month and next's White Dwarf. This takes the place of Codex: Witchhunters, and is considered official until they get a full codex.

Next month sees the release of the new Ogre Kingdoms army book.

Holy crap! It does exist! I was really hoping not to need to create this thread, but I noticed its dead, so allow me to revive it with the rhyme I've said!

I just got in to 40k a couple of year ago. The universe as a whole, not just the miniature game, but I absolutely love the dystopian universe, the mythology and the dozens of stories. I was introduced through the Grey Knights and they remain my favorite chapter. I love knights in shining armor blasting demons to bits with holy shiz.

I bought White Dwarf magazines years back. I had no interest in the game, just the stories and the pictures.

Did anyone here play the Spacemarine game for Xbox? I was so disappointed in its...general lack of...well everything. HOW IS A POWERSWORD AS STRONG AS A CHAINSWORD!?

Plus most of the opening section could be avoided with the classic Drop Pod Assault. :monster: TBH, I didn't get much further than meeting up with an inexplicably mixed sex Guard regiment, as it ignored too much fluff to be "more accessible".

Had much the same problem with the Ultramarines film, too. Oh God-Emperor, please don't let me be becoming an elitist...

That film was bollocks. I couldn't stand it.

I've got an ire inducing question. Any Matt Ward fans in here?
