@ topic, I just finished reading the comic (yes, I know, took long enough). Can't say it had a 'DUN DUN DUUNNN!' impact on me at the end. Sure, the whole story and elements therein are good - in particular, I quite enjoyed the 'comic in a comic' (what's that called again btw?), but I dunno, the ending wasn't as epic as I thought it would've been. Might be because of that contraption Jon makes (and which they showed in the trailer for the movie) deluding me into thinking that it'll include something as epic, or that squiddlydoo would be some uber evil bad guy that takes over the world and requires the epic heroes to be epic and heroes about it.
But no, it's nothing like that in the end. There's more of an emphasis on the moral choices the characters make in the end. And, to be honest, that didn't really have much of an impact on me - in the span of about half a page, they go 'Hm yeh, we know who orchestrated the death of three million people, but meh, cba to goan tell the world'. I'd be more impressed if they added some sort of proper dialog to explain how they choose for that option.
I dunno. This particular comic (or perhaps it's the medium in itself, not sure) doesn't realy seem to hit the spot with me, not really transferring emotion over in a convincing manner. Might just be me though, so feel free to call me a dick over that.
I haven't watched the movie yet, but I haven't got a clue how they tell the story in there. I mean, not putting the squid in is like... well, not putting the squid in,
. How else are they going to show Veidt's plan come to fruition? I guess I'll have to go and watch the movie myself.
