The ending is supposed to be morally ambiguous, and none of the characters is really completely morally in the right (although Rorschach definitely ends up compromising his convictions a lot less than any other character, I'd say). Moore doesn't like spelling things out for people; he'd rather just make people think. So the fact that you're having that reaction to the film makes me think Snyder's probably pulled it off the way it was supposed to be done.

Go see it. If you like thought out films with interesting characters, the you'll enjoy this one.

Saw the mignight release, and I just got to say: if you like Watchmen in any shape or form, then you'll enjoy this film. It's just, so accurate to the comic - I'd say most of the scenes were taken straight from the comic exactly or almost exactly (visually and in terms of dialogue). Of course, they couldn't include every subplot of the comic (the whole subplot with the Manhattan street people is completely cut out, though they are featured in the film). The few changes weren't a big deal, and mostly worked for the sake of furthering the film (eg. in the film, it was Adrien who first attempted to form the second league of superheroes). The opening credits were just great as well.

One integral thing they may have lost in the plot is the cast was a little young to get the message across. Namely Veidt, bothered me a little, as he looked like a lean young adult as opposed to his more mature image in the comics. The rest of the cast was fine, actually, but Ozzy should've been an an older looking fellow, I think.

All I can say is that I can't wait for the extended DVD release, which adds another hour to an almost 3-hour long film.


Film as a film... I'm not too sure how people unfamiliar with Watchmen would feel about the movie. Alot of the subtle references would be completely lost. Also, some of the music cues were incredibley weird and distracting (I had a gigantic WTF moment when 99 Red Balloons started blaring.) While the film's soundtrack was absolutely killer (Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Nat King Cole =FTW) the use of music was something that could have been much improved.

Hellboy 2 was shit, I'll tell you that, :monster:.

One dude at work saw it, should be good. I might watch it in the cinema, maybe next week or something.

I spent 10 dollars when I saw Watchmen. Got a large cherry limeade, nachos, and a large popcorn.

Nope, completely serious. Alot of people do it, too (I work at a big theatre, where the attendance goes up to 4-5 thousand people on weekend nights). They think they can get floor-popcorn for free, or something. It makes me so sad :(

That probably won't be that much of a problem, worst case is the stuff is several days old and mouldy, which would, in the worst case, cause food poisoning. The rest should still be good, albeit dusty. And ew.

In all srsness though, on this thread, I think two things:

A. Rename it to just plain old 'Watchmen'
B. Create a new, spoileriffic thread about the movie.
