looney: Whenever they go for Dr. Manhattan's dong shots or involve any scene with him in full body, they cut it out. I don't mind it but it really irked many who weren't used to the book, especially when a very important plot point was up, none of the customers understood it. *sigh* I wish they lift these kinds of things. [/quote]

Wait... so they cut that, but they didn't cut
Rorschach hacking that guy's head, or the bozo who got his arms sawn off?

If so...what a world we live in...

Here it was epically weak due to Dr. M. But in Dubai it was alright.

And they're not accustomed to sex? :monster:

Sadly not to public exposure. hell if our girlfriends parade in Saudi with a bra and pants, they will BE KILL BY ARABS. it happened to my friend by accident. bless her soul.

Mostly scenes involving sex and nudity will be cut off. BS imo.

Yeah, it's a bit of a head-desk moment tbh.

Anyway...I just thought I'd give the movie (comic?) points for originality:
In that Veidt is not your typical anti-villain, whose misguided goal falls on its ass, accompanied by his own tragic demise. He actually succeeds with his plan, convinces the heroes he was right, and they all live happily ever after...kinda. He's also genre savvy into the mix! :monster:

LOL, Dacon keeps the movie theatres in business.

I liked this fuckin movie, dun care what the purists say. Yeah, some things were bleh, mainly the sex scenes (Joker, you ain't missing much, trust me) and the general lets-kick-ass-while-relishing-the-violence vibe I got from SS and NO, but Squid ending...really? No, fuckers that would have killed the fuckin movie.

And Rorschach was Rorschach. Most people including myself liked JEH's performance. I liked the voice, but then I also liked Bale's I-just-gargled-glass voice, so meh.

No it wouldn't have. They could have made that work like all of the other seemingly insipid shit in the book that worked for it. What kills the movie for a lot of people is the lack any substantial development as far as they're concerned.

I get the impression that what really killed the movie was dumb faggot studio execs who claimed that no one would care about the news vendor or the kid on the street, when really the common people in the story are some of its most important characters. Various comments Snyder has made lead me to suspect this will be fixed in the director's cut.

That said, there were still a few dumb changes made, but really, anyone expecting a perfect film was pretty naïve. I'm fairly satisfied with what we got.

I think what confused a lot of people was, Synder said he'd try his best to keep the ending intact for the film.

Clearly someone stepped in his way. Of course, it was like 2 years ago when he said that.

Yeah, no doubt. My biggest gripe with the ending of the film isn't with the removal of the squid anyway, it's with the truncation of Manhattan's final scene.

This.

The everyday people are just as vital to the story as the main characters. As a reader of the novel, you can relate and even become attached to the characters, making the scene with the Squid incredibly powerful and symbolic. All of that was done away with in the film. Massive faggotry imho. Although, I do understand the reasons why those scenes weren't in the film, it just proves how right people were in saying the novel was impossible to adapt successfully.

That said, I couldn't expect more from the film. I never had high hopes for it to begin with. I'm still going to wait for the Director's Cut, before I pass final judgment.

this would've been better off a tv mini-series exactly 12 episodes long. With 2 specials with Under the hood. A film is still a film, 2-3 hours long, very impossible to cramp all that up and add an exact carbon copy. Quite frankly the one that was rather enjoyable was indeed the motion comic.

Yeah, a mini-series would've been much better. This wasn't quite the best imaginable film they could've done at under three hours, but honestly, it couldn't have been that much better without being way longer.

exactly. 24 minutes is all it took to complete a single chapter. I'm sure it could be done in live action too.

THIS.
From Snyder's commentary, I got the impression that they wanted to do away with some of the more important scenes as well, such as Rorschach's meetings with the psychiatrist and Manhattan's story and such. In any case, I'm not here to defend the mofo, so whatever.

I felt the squid would have been too jarring despite the glowing blue man. Squid is just too wtf, and as much as it works in one medium, I can't say it would translate over as well.
I can't explain the change of Jon's lines in giving them to Laurie, I was kinda pissed about that, because when Akerman delivers it in her flat, whiny voice it kinda ruins the moment.

But Im satisfied with the movie, and thought it was able to hold on to some of the bigger themes in the book. Rorschach was by far my favorite part of it :P

Adrian and Silk Bitch were the weakest links, imo, in terms of acting and basic understanding of the fuckin characters, but overall I thought it was good :)

That was the goddamn point. It was supposed to be this huge shock that would force the entire world's attention to it.

And honestly, it's not like it came from nowhere. The book had a huge buildup to it, with a bunch of clue leading to it's revelation.

I don't buy that it couldn't work in the film at all. All of the random bizarre bullshit in the film, and a giant genetically engineered monster squid is suppose to be too extreme? Whatever, sounds like just looking for an excuse to not include something they don't like.
