I get the impression that what really killed the movie was dumb faggot studio execs who claimed that no one would care about the news vendor or the kid on the street, when really the common people in the story are some of its most important characters. Various comments Snyder has made lead me to suspect this will be fixed in the director's cut.
That said, there were still a few dumb changes made, but really, anyone expecting a perfect film was pretty naïve. I'm fairly satisfied with what we got.
THIS.
From Snyder's commentary, I got the impression that they wanted to do away with some of the more important scenes as well, such as Rorschach's meetings with the psychiatrist and Manhattan's story and such. In any case, I'm not here to defend the mofo, so whatever.
I felt the squid would have been too jarring despite the glowing blue man. Squid is just too wtf, and as much as it works in one medium, I can't say it would translate over as well.
I can't explain the change of Jon's lines in giving them to Laurie, I was kinda pissed about that, because when Akerman delivers it in her flat, whiny voice it kinda ruins the moment.
But Im satisfied with the movie, and thought it was able to hold on to some of the bigger themes in the book. Rorschach was by far my favorite part of it
Adrian and Silk Bitch were the weakest links, imo, in terms of acting and basic understanding of the fuckin characters, but overall I thought it was good
