I was just pointing out that the only time this forum isn't completely apathetic is when debating over some recent staff drama or discussing some of the most bland and irrelevant topics in the history of Final Fantasy. You said so yourself, there wasn't a debate on it in that thread, so why would I be saying there was.

I was merely wondering why if yo thought the topic was so stupid did you enter it because it would have died out sooner otherwise.

Grammatically reasonable, but not logical. Like we said, there was no debate in that thread, so why would I be talking about one?

I'm being defensive because you thought that rather than go back and read my post to draw the logical conclusion from it, you thought it would be a much more sound strategy to simply write 'what the hell are you talking about, and now moving on without comment'

On most forums there's a difference between 'playing the antagonist' and 'having a differing opinion from other people' and I really thought this forum had learnt that by now since this issue hasn't come up in months. And saying that just kind of smacks of the forum falling back into bad habits, so yeah I might be a bit ornery about that too.

I didn't take it to be playing the antagonist until you complained about the thread's existence, for why else would you have posted in it. But fine, whatever. And people ARE going back and forth about whether its black or brown, so it wasn't that absurd to think you could be calling it a debate.

Now I want this thread to go back on topic since I actually have an interest in the innovations that might come out of it, as contrary to popular belief I am a fan of FF7 and genuinely do want to improve this site.

With that said let's move the focus away from irrelevant shit and back towards FF7. I appreciate your sentiment, man, seriously.

Here are some decent ideas

-More focus on the Gameplay Help Board. Seriously, a lot of people do still PLAY FF7 (I'm playing it as we speak) and Crisis Core, etc etc, and literally tens of thousands of posts float around the internet regarding how to do this or whats the best way to do that every day. If we can draw more people from all over to DISCUSS the FF7 gameplay here, that will undoubtedly branch off into other stuff.

-Getting more Ultimanias and other Japanese only publications and interviews etc translated. That really speaks for itself. It's one of the main draws of this site. And not just FF7, either. ALL of the FF installments are fair game to us. We already have FF7 and FF9. Let's up the ante.

-Interactive stuff like Let's Plays and commentary are a blast, too. However this takes commitment and creativity, because nobody likes a boring flake. For good examples on what makes an excellent LP, take a look at the link I posted earlier, or head over to Something Awful.

-Music, music, music. How do you guys forget about this!? People still remix for FF7 and related games on the regular. We should team up with OCRemix and keep on a lookout for good remix work and post them on our page.

For a playthrough I'd divide it up into 10 minute chunks and turn them into YouTube. Perhaps set up a YouTube account to upload them onto, Lets Play's on YouTube generally pull in a lot of hits and if its up to a sufficient level of quality then it should attract the decent people from youtube (I.E those who have an IQ in the triple digits).

Having 20 minute podcasts that deal with a specific character or theme or point of discussion is also a good idea. But I don't know if it's something I'd be able to contribute too much to since there's people much more interested and knowledgeable about that angle who'd do a much better job.

Having these all on the YouTube channel and available to watch on the main site. Will guarantee that we do get some new faces around here.

And yes, I'd love to participate in a Lets Play. Since being boring is one of the accusations that can't ever be levelled at me

Good thinking. I realize we will never usurp GF as the premier place for gameplay help and discussion. That's their domain, and pretty much will be forever. However, that doesn't mean we can't do a little on the side on our own, right? Every little bit helps. Like you said, it IS common sense. We're PLAYING these games before we do anything else.

The issue is how to do it. Short of taking hito's brain and putting it in a jar and having it analyze Ultimanias every day forever, we have to respect the fact that the few translators we have are people too, with their own lives, hobbies, and speed that they can work. That's why I honestly do appreciate very much when they take time out of their lives to actually do this stuff for us.

However on that front, more is more when it comes to translators. So how we get more translators? There are a TON of FF7 fans that are fluent in Japanese, we just have to find them and get them in one place. And barring that, how feasible is it to pay for translations with donations?

Already that would leave you with a little more cash for translators and whatever else you can think of as good investments for the site, as well as more traffic.

This isn't a bad idea, but I'm really leaning on my previous suggestion on promoting things like OCRemix and whatnot. Everyone has already heard, bought, or pirated FF7's soundtrack by now, but brand new unheard of FF7 compositions are created every day, and it would really help everyone involved if the artists and fans who make those remixes and arrangements possible were recognized and their work credited and spread around. I mean, Voices of the Lifestream, anyone?

Who here can actually record the gameplay footage and stuff of FFVII? That's tantamount since we just don't want to have someone using a webcam or something in front of a tv or whatever.

The "Let's play" commentary and discussion of the plot seems like the most feasible and likely to get off the ground first.

So who's able to do this?

Also, a comprehensive video timeline would be wonderful. I think we could do it better than the one on the ACC Blu-Ray disc if given the time.

If I had the equipment for a LP, I'd do it. You need a mic and one of those cables that connects your TV to your computer.

Also Mako, we can tackle some of these simultaneously. How about we get to work on the music angle? Contact OCRemix? I think we can definitely get VotL on here with permission.

I'd like to think of it as a beneficial relationship. People who remix FF7 music have a lot to gain by having a FF7 site (and a pretty good one like ours) sponsor their work, and of course, by extension we'll give more people a reason to check out our site, people from OCRemix and elsewhere. Remember, they're into video games as well.

I think by using the PC version, it'd be a lot easier. So we just need to either find a person who has it and is willing to participate, or someone who knows how to get said PC version into the hands of those who want to do it, so they can do it.
