Well obviously, but like you said, placing one perfect song/album above another is rather arbitrary. I'm not sure I can say on an objective level that it's better than "Close to the Edge", "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers", "Supper's Ready", etc., but subjectively it's my current favourite

Aeternus - Sworn Revenge

Old Aeternus is so underrated, Hate Forest/Drudkh (and probably Primordial too) definitely must have been influenced.

Yeah it's ridiculous how good he is on that album. Their first two records are stone cold classics for sure.

Hatfield and the North - [Hatfield and the North #06] Aigrette [1:38]

I like their first five albums. Then they fucked up with an extremeley terrible album, and then made a pretty decent but mediocre comeback album, Cryptopsy's Death Magnetic, basically.

I haven't listened to it but Death Magnetic sounds like a good comparison (i.e. a decent album but not a patch on the early Metallica albums). I'll have to listen to some of Cryptopsy's later material next time I'm in a death metal mood.

Hatfield and the North - [The Rotters' Club #05] The Yes No Interlude [7:01]
