~The Other Side of Fear~
I'm so gonna look for that Quiet book. About fucking time someone made a book about us introverts!

I've been reading the Elenium. It's an old fantasy trilogy that I only read a small amount years before but recently got more into. I just love the characters. They feel very real, with real human flaws and behaviors.

Just finished re-reading Guards! Guards! Every single re-read reminds me of a quote from Night Watch:

"I know you well, gentlemen. You're in it for the quiet life and the pension, you don't hurry too much in case the danger is still around when you get there, and the most you ever expected to face was an obstreperous drunk or a particularly difficult cow. [. . .] You're the stupid little band of brownjobs. You're beneath contempt. But believe me, boys — you'll rise."

Starting to read Empire State. Opinions so far? Pulp/noir with reality crossings. Should've read it sooner.

Also read Quiet by Susan Cain.
Did you know that if you're an extrovert, watching pornography at work may induce you to take riskier decisions? In general extroverts seem to have a sort of dark light cast on them when it comes to proneness to accidents, bad behavior (such as adultery), or certain decision making.
Regardless they've got their good attributes as well and are needed as much as introverts to form a necessary combination, whether it be for political endeavors or work associated tasks (the author is also of the opinion that most marriages are an introvet-extrovert pairing, though there may be some problems of preferences or understanding between spouses).

There's also a big proponent to get rid of open office space, as thinking in solitude in many cases is a better way to solve problems or come up with ideas than brainstorming with a group. I can relate to that. Book recommended.

What I'm reading now: Joyland/ Stephen King.

got finished reading World War Z

and I have have a feeling that the whole "lets compare how different nations react to a zombie invasion" documentary/interview aspect isn't going to factor into the movie at all when that's whole point of the book...

Had a lot of time to read books.

Coraline, which looked like a Silent Hill story for kids. Loved it.

Stardust, on which I started humming the Black Adder song when Mr. Gaiman described Septimus
seeing how he ended, it suited him :awesome:

Neverwere, which touched my favorite theme: alternate realities and worlds.

The entire Narnia series.

The Hobbit, because there's never enough of it.

Started A Game of Thrones but had to leave it. I love the writing style of George Martin but in my current emotional state I can't stomach such a bleak world. Right now I need rainbows and unicorns and happy endings, not a repetition of what's going on right now at this side of the fourth wall.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Some books of The Martian Chronicles have become of public domain, so I will read them soon.

The same goes for Conan.

This was the same for me. I started the first one and actually decided not to finish it, which was a first for me. It felt like the characters were trying to fix the problems they saw by repeating the problems they were trying to fix. Which was kinda depressing...

You should totally read the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series. It really is good in my opinion.

I've downloaded a couple of Lovecraft books off of Wikisource, read Shadow over Innsmouth (MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN!) and At the Mountains of Madness (TEKELI-LI! TEKELI-LI! THE WINDOWLESS SOLIDS WITH FIVE DIMENSIONS!") , and The Colour out of Space (THE COLOUR! IT COME FROM SOME PLACE WHAR THINGS AIN'T AS THEY IS HERE!). Now reading The Shunned House.

"Coriolanus" by William Shakespeare. It's a bittersweet feeling seeing how little things have changed in 400 or some years :monster:

Also started 1984 but dropped it. I'm not in the mood for bleak worlds.

I've been catching up on my Discworld backlog. Over the past couple weeks I've read Lords and Ladies and Maskerade, and I also re-read Guards! Guards! and Men at Arms. All of which are classic. I think the two Watch books are my favourites of the four I've read though.

I just finished reading "Under Heaven" by Gay Gavriel Kay. I haven't loved all his books but I really found I couldn't put this one down. It reminded me a lot of "Tales of the Otori" by Lian Hearn, which I also loved.

I hardly read anything these days.

Almost done with Under The Dome. It's a good book, and I thought I'd finally read it before watching the tv show that's currently out (which I've heard lots of mixed reviews about).

The second GOT book. Is it just me or are these things ultra long? How thick are they in paper-back cuz I'm only using their kindle forms.

They're quite thick, and several are 1,000 pages or more.

Rereading Small Gods again, as well as rereading Mort and Making Money. I don't remember the last two as well.

I've been reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for advisory at school, and it is hilarious. I'm about 40% through the book, and pretty much every page evokes a laugh from me. I can definitely see why people like it so much.

Game of Thrones; Song of Ice and Fire. Already bought the second book so I can go straight from one to the other. I'm astonished at how many differences there are between the show and the books. oO
