I recently got into the Metal Gear series for the first time. I just finished MGS4: Sons of the Patriots and started Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker.

So far MGS3 is my favorite. From what I gather, that's a common favorite.

Currently playing Trails Through Daybreak but I still consider picking up FFXIII Lightning Returns again... The time limit just kinda scares me.

There is more than enough time to do everything. It's a framing device more than anything.
I come from a time where the Atelier games still had a time limit (and Firis, haha) but I had issues with how Lightning Returns handled the time passing system. At least from what I remember it seems tough but that was many years ago, so yeah the best is to just try again.

I'm playing a game called Wood Nuts & Bolts, via Youtube (also a downloadable app, but I'm not gonna bother doing that). It's an addictive little puzzle game. You basically gotta move bolts around to get rid of all the pieces on the board (which fall with gravity), and avoid running out of holes (the pieces can partially cover holes, making them unusable). Each level consists of one easy board, which serve as checkpoint, followed by a hard board, so if you have to retry a hard board and don't want to use a ticket, you have to redo the easy board again, which can be a pain in the arse. You can purchase or earn tickets that give you powers, to make levels a little easier. I'm not sure how many levels there are. I'm up to just over level 100 atm. 3/5 stars, I guess.

Tentatively started playing Dissidia 012 Duodecim.

I've been meaning to check it out. Not sure if I'll finish it though as I have a whole lot other games on my list that take priority.

So much to do. So little time.

There is a frankly stupid amount of content to get through to do everything, lol. But I'd say the main plot of hte 012 section (before it then goes into the plot of the original Dissidia) is definitely worthwhile and feels like a condensed little FF game.

I had the original Dissidia as a kid but I didn't ever play much of it. Now I have a chance to play both Dissidia games in one package. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I must say, most of my interest is just being able to see the different FF characters interacting.

Picked up MGS on Switch for a rainy day… but wait, why are there two downloads gracing my home screen? Why, none other than the original Metal Gear and Solid Snake for MSX came along for the ride!

Interesting… looks like they put a “this game was a product of its time” warning, or words to that effect. Hopefully it’s just because of the cigarettes - which actually serve a purpose in this version, which is pretty cool. But remember kids, smoking is only cool when Snake does it to sneak around lasers.

Having originally played the NES version, there sure are a lot of differences on the MSX. Both small (you swim into Outer Heaven instead of air dropping into the jungle) and large (an actual Metal Gear boss fight, apparently - how could you forget to put the fucking Metal Gear in Metal Gear, NES?) Also, one of the cyborg enemies is called Arnold on MSX, which finally explains why Kyle Reese is on the game cover. Basically everything is better on MSX except maybe the soundtrack.

And it’s been a long time, but… did the alarms always carry across screens? If you get caught and there’s no elevator nearby, you better absolutely, positively kill every motherfucker in the room or they will have no chill on the next screen.

They don’t change anything but I believe it also refers to plenty of times where you are able to zoom in on tits… and there is a bunch of groping too.

I’m curious as to how Delta will handle that.

A few hours into Echoes of Wisdom. So far it feels like a Game Boy Zelda - ok literally the LA remake - but blended with BotW’s elements and sense of creativity in getting things done. Its good stuff.

I've been playing FFX for the last few months, and it does make me long for the mid-2000s tropical vibe of Spira and games like Mario Sunshine. (It seems like that vibe is trending on social media as well)

I know people say that FFXIII's linear structure is bad and FFX's is good, but honestly, I don't think they're that different. I like both of them.

X does let you go backwards but more than that, I think the crucial difference is that there are towns/places that aren't part of a 20-hour dungeon. The lack of such reprieves make XIII feel a lot more exhausting than X. (And I still like XIII, I just think that's the main source of difference in the impression people have.)

I love hearing when someone plays FFX, it's such a moment because it is the best story ever told. There are so many new players everyday and I'm so fortunate to have been a fan since day 1. Unlike other FFs with remakes; 10 was granted a remaster----no changes, :) Happy to see ffx players daily

So is anyone playing Veilguard? Are you enjoying it if so?

Edit: So I got the game, but sadly it's a bit lacking in accessibility options for me. If they release an auto sprint function I might be able to continue. That, or I could try a mage playthrough instead of rogue, that might help.

(I have problems with games that require a lot of left stick work and this game is extremely heavy on the left stick. My hand was hurting after only an hour. I tried fiddling with the options but nothing I tried seemed to do much. Any tips are greatly appreciated!!)

Edit again: I tried a Mage and that didn't really help much. I've asked for tips on Reddit and I could lower the difficulty. But as is right now the game appears unplayable for me. Oh well maybe boyfriend wants to play it.

It annoys me because I can get through games like Yakuza Gaiden and Horizon Forbidden West just fine. I didn't even have to use the latters great Accessibility features either, it just had a nice play feel from the get go.

Been trying to get through zodiac age on xbox one; I swear this game annoys me. As a FFX guy, XII is such opposite in terms of what the fan bases declare. So anyways----trying to finish off H wyrm dude before i can fight yiaz and i did all this on ps2 version but zodiac is frustrating and unforgivable. But ya---playing that earlier along with ghostbusters 2009 video game now that's worth it.

I`m thoroughly impressed with Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, almost done with it after 100 hours spent... in a fucking DLC.

manages to be better and prettier than the base game in some ways even, yes, Elden Ring has one of the greatest art directions of all time.

Thanks to a tip on Reddit to switch L1 and L3 I'm now actually able to play Veilguard. I'm playing Dwarf Rogue (as sneakily ranged as possible) Antivan Crows (because Zevran <3) male he/him. About 20 hrs in, shamelessly flirting with everyone. I'm really into it tbh. The game itself, not just the flirting :monster:

so if you ever decide to play code vein, have a good way to back up your saves and keep up to date with it. i was at the last boss and decided to do some levelling because i suck at games and collect some equipment drops i'd missed. i got all equipment except the last boss drop and dlc stuff, learnt most of the abilities, was level 175, had completed all but one of the non-dlc depths. i had just gotten the last 2 drops i needed when the game crashed, and when i tried to start it up to see where it'd saved it said my data was corrupted. couldn't find a way to fix it so i had to download my cloud save backup

i don't know when it decides it's time to upload them, but it's from almost 2 weeks ago. i'm back to level 49, 10 stages behind from where i was before the crash, most of that equipment i had is gone now and the rest has lost all the upgrades, only have 3 out of 12 depths unlocked, dozens of bosses i have to get back through, it's put me before any of the choices that affect the ending which i hadn't gotten to see yet

this seems to be a known issue but there isn't a fix and doesn't seem like it will be getting one. i hadn't really had any problems before this, it had just crashed once a couple of days ago but it was fine after that. i just wish it had backed up my save more often so i didn't lose 2 weeks of progress :sadpanda:

same devs as god eater, which reminds me that i also lost my saves for god eater burst and ge2 when my vita fell on the ground and that ended up wiping all my data off it :sadpanda:

I'm playing the first Phoenix Wright game on DS, and I don't think I've ever played a game that has such strong extremes between enjoyment and frustration, lol.
sometimes you get to feel really clever. Other times the leaps in the logic the game expects you to make is just "....what?"
Or, worse, you actually already made the necessary leap in logic but there's interim stuff you have to do in order before the game will let you make it, lol

I'm on the final case (which I understand was added after the original release) and it has perfectly exemplified both extremes, lol.
