Since this topic's been bumped. I want to talk about two issues about the mythology of this movie.

Is there a Ralph in every Arcade in the country and around the world? If so, what are all of them like? Likewise, other Sugar rush consoles where Turbo never invaded- what's that Vanellope like?

And similarly, what of the home market? What happens to characters in carts?

Holy shit Tres. *mindblow*

Also, it's so sad this didn't win. I mean, there was no way they were going to give an Oscar to a movie with a tiny niche market. But still.

I still want to see this, ever since i saw Zangief in the trailer. Just speculating but maybe it lost out on an Oscar because it came out relatively late in the year?

Anyway I never give much creedence to the Oscars, plenty of utter shite films win tons of awards *cough cough* Titanic *cough cough* :monster:

Or it could be that people still dismiss it because its about videogames even though Disney put their heart and soul into making it.It seems the academy will dismiss Disney because of its Dork Age in the 2000's.I mean how could you not like Wreck It Ralph because even nonvideo gaming fans loved it.

What do you even mean by this? Dork Age in the 2000's? Also, Brave won Animated Feature Film....and it was done by Disney/Pixar....so...

I also liked Wreck It Ralph better than Brave. Brave was nice, but I found myself a little bored by it.

Yeah, not to mention I liked the Sugar Rush game which makes me kinda of wish they would make an animesque spinoff tv series based on it.Or even better made a real game out of Sugar Rush.I know it would defiantly be a hit with girls and some guys.

I was pretty bummed this didn't win the Oscar (but even more bummed that ParaNorman didn't win it). I wasn't necessarily surprised that Brave won, but it was kind of frustrating since there were lots of good animated movies out this year and Brave, while good, wasn't one of Pixar's best.

Both Wreck It Ralph and ParaNorman were better than Brave, it was a nice film but like Cassie I was also a little bored by it.

Movies that come out later in the year actually tend toward better Oscar chances :monster:

I think Brave may have been stronger as a short film perhaps. I really liked it. Not sure if I liked it more than Wreck-it Ralph. I think the two films appealed to very different sides of my heart. I'm still sold on ParaNorman deserving it though!

Like Tina Fey said: We celebrate the movies that have been in theaters for 3 days. Movies that come later in the year are fresh in peoples mind helping their chances to win an award.

I was very happy Paperman won for best animated short film, I was completely in love with it.

I loved Brave and Wreck It Ralph. The only place where I feel Brave got weak was in the message; also after the mom became a bear was a bit weak too. Still, I thought they were on par with each other pretty much.

Ralph says "Thank you Aerith! Thank you Aerith!" when he is trying to run into the tower, and just before he grabs hold of the FPS and says "When did video games become so violent and scary?!"
. I don't think anyone else mentioned (noticed?) this, so I thought to mention. Spoiler tagged in case some don't wish to know what it is.

I wish to amend something I said about Brave and Wreck It Ralph:

While I do like both movies a lot, Brave was weaker in story and message.

In this, while I do think Brave had some note worthy aspects, I think Wreck It Ralph should've gotten the Oscar for Best Animations (or whatever the category title is.)

I've not seen ParaNorman, so... I can't say. It looked good, but, eh... Not my topic.

I'm going to check it when I watch it tomorrow.

I did not notice that is what he said.

Subtitle time when it comes out on DVD. :)

He says
"Aeris"
, but it's all the same.
