Btw, speaking of theory crafting, I wrote what I've thought the ending of FFVII Remake Project would be, but in fanfic form, not essay. Of course, it gives Zerith & Cloti story resolution, happy ending for everyone. Guessing the reunion of Zack & Aerith would be like is hard lol, so I just skip it straight to the ending that they destroy the meteor together from realm of destiny crossroad that manifest as Sector 5 Church (not Midgar expressway like FFVII Remake ending).

Oh im the opposite of you, I dont like time travel or multiple universes because it usually leads to unintended plotholes. So I groaned when this was sort of that but im still hoping for it being better explained through Lifestream shenanigans or something in part 3.
People still think it is a multiverse it is very obvious they are just multiple timelines people who think it is a multiverse are basing it on their experience with Marvel Slop while time loops and timelines have been a thing since the First FF.
It's funny how a lot of people don't know this. Just that the handling is inconsistent.

Time lines and multiple universes dont differ that much in principle, no?
My understanding is every action creates a new timeline in a new universe.
But multiple universes could be a completly different story with the same characters (?)
My comment still stands im a hater of those tropes lol (still love this story though, just hoping for everything to tie up neatly in the end.)
Edit: I said that and yet one of my favorite movies is Howl's Moving Castle and also loved Everything, Everywhere all at Once, so maybe I hate when the tropes are done poorly.

Multiple timelines and multiverses are completely different things and provide different narrative opportunities I am going to explain this using the most basic example: In DBZ, trunks come from the future to warn about the future what he didn’t realize is that he created a new timeline accidentally and it has no bearing on his timeline changing the past does not change the future. in Dragon Ball Super, we learn that DBZ takes place in universe seven, and there are twelve different universes from which fighters fight in a grand tournament.

FF can both exist in a multiverse (Unlimited, Dissidia, Stranger of Paradise, FF14) and have time travel stories (FF1, 8) and even games with both (Final Fantasy 13, Crystal Chronicles DS) and the world Zack is in can be neither of those things.
As for Zack's world, I think understanding it as a snapshot recreation of Midgar right as the party entered the rift makes the most sense. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that Zack's world is where the final battles of remake "happened" and the party was actually just standing around on the highway while their minds fought the whispers and sephypoo, and when they went back to their bodies, the lifestream duplicates weren't being piloted any more, hence why all the bodies are inert, except for Red and Aerith- because both of them had future memories which left them in Rebirth- It might also be why one Cloud vanishes, because Zack reset his position by wandering in.

I really enjoyed the Gold Saucer EC dates. They are more or less the OG dates with slight variations and different details. I think the "promise" of Cloud and Aerith was referring to them going out together again or the ongoing thing of always agreeing to a date/more dates since their date ends positively no matter what you choose. Of course with titles with the One I was filled with joy and so happy but even Special Friend can have undertones to it and it doesn't dampen my spirits too much since the entire event is a lot of fun and good. I wouldn't mind if they used Companion of Promise/Promised Companion either since you get the title after the prospect of going out together again. They should have probably just went with something like Promised Date and Beloved Friend instead of the One and Childhood Pal to begin with? Maybe

You receive titles after doing events in Ever Crisis that you can use as your profile pieces. Initially for the new event you would get a title called the One for dating Aerith in Chapter 8 of the FFVII story and Childhood Pal for dating Tifa (Yuffie and Barret also came with their own titles. Some CTs admitted they sent in complaints about this. It was changed to Special Friend for Aerith and Beloved Friend for Tifa. Now others (not all) are complaining about about Aerith's and sending complaints and saying they'll boycott and stop spending money on the game like some did over the Tifa getting Sabin's costume fiasco. It's a bit of a mess but shout out to CAs and CTs that were just enjoying their things.

The thing with the One Drama is the false claims that complaints are the reason it was changed. It was changed in less than 24 hours because it was wrong and giving the wrong interpretation. There is no possible way for complaints to change a title in less than 24 hours. There wasn't even anything about it on X EC page no one was talking about it like the Sabin skin. The Sabin skin should have feedback since it actually costs money.

It's not the same world. This one we can expect was born out of our Aerith's wish to save Zack at the end of Remake; and I really do wonder if the white materia didn't lose its whiteness to become empty at that moment because it's such a big wish for her and she doesn't have yet the power to make it come true. In that way I guess we can think that Zack is able to create other worlds because the Lifestream is following our Aerith's wish in a way? Or when he follows the flowers, it's still because Aerith wanted to save him?
CTs didn't send anything - and certainly not threats as CAs are making it up in Twitter. Around 99% of us thought they botched Tifa's title card and wouldn't change it back, it was fcked up like this, the end. So it came as a surprise when the next day they changed it, as well as Aerith's title card. But now the EC threads are filled with threats from really unhinged CAs (especially Japanese ones?), and there are threats and impersonations both from Western and Japanese side... it's quite bad.
I know CTs definitely do have unhinged fans, mind you, but what I'm watching on the CA side recently is just another level. I'm glad I know you and @LunarTarotGirl or I'd think all CAs fans are really crazy :/

I'm more surprised no one bat at an eye at how unnaturally sounding for FF those title cards were. I will concede that it's not like I noticed it off the bat, but geez, it's rare for FF to not be rather flowery with its titles.

Though, I will add that people are allowed to complain and even boycott things they spend money like outfits. As long as it doesn't devolve into outright harassment.

There was relatively recently a huge schism on reddit between the "likes the ship" and the "it is endgame" groups of CA shippers because the former were getting sick of the utter toxicity of the latter. So basically, yeah.
This is what worries me about how part 3 handles the ending. If it goes the way of the OG, I don't know how people are going to react. A lot of the hardcore CA shippers are going to feel like they were baited/burned, and to a degree, I think they would be correct. The theme songs to Remake and Rebirth, as well as the dream date, give very strong Clerith vibes. Which is why the theme songs should have been different, and the dream date scrapped entirely. It all gives the wrong impression about this relationship. I don't even have issues with the way Cloud and Aerith interact in the game itself. When you make it look like the credits song is a love ballad from one to the other, this kind of shit happens.
And I understand a lot of hardcore CA shippers are hardcore on account of straight-up denying evidence. If I was SE I wouldn't want to leave anything up to chance. Just be as clear as possible from top to bottom. The ambivalence and fan service just kicks the can down the road. The story has to end at some point, and with it, the LTD.

If the writer of the song has to intervene to tell people what the song is actually about, and CA shippers respond by saying he's "back-pedalling", well then those CA shippers may be wrong, but it's still a failure of execution from the very beginning that anyone had this impression.
I'm simply acknowledging there has been a failure to communicate on SE's part. The EC title change is just the latest example. I just wish they would fail less at this.
