New Dissidia Arcade Game (NT)

(Half of) Boss Rush

I could only save the latter 30 minutes, but I found even better methods for Boss breaking since making this video. Doom and Holy Snare are excellent tools along with Perfect Defense. Still need to do Hard Mode yet.

Also, a few characters getting rebalanced, though the details aren't forthcoming due to translation.

If anyone finds info in English, post it here.

Okay, so, a few things to Note about Squall's Draw Magic ability:

--He draws Arise from Vanguard Types and gets HP Regen effect.
--He draws Triple from Assassin Types and gets a Speed buff, this is Running/Dash Speed and NOT Dash stamina/Dash recovery which is buffed with Odin/Revivify.
--He draws Meteors from Marksmen Types and gets Bravery Regen.
--Specialist Types have a Random Draw of any of the above 3 types.

The closer he is to his "prey" during Draw, the longer the Buff will last, including Ultima.

You can draw from Targets close-up on Knockdown (Bahamut is best to take advantage of Draw).

Also, for Gunblade Combos, the Trigger Timing is about half a second after the gunblade hits (you don't have to mash, just time your presses), but Trigger only works on followups to a combo, not the very first hit. It doesn't seem to work on his Dash strike either.

I'd also add that if you're bad with Triggers, consider using Ifrit/Mighty Strikes/Bravery Conduit instead.

Also, having Vaan in your Party with Share Bravery and his Dreadnought EX skill, will help immensely.

I am rather enjoying the game, although the camera angles are wacked. I also I'm not sure I like the lack of more RPG elements, but the fighting is fast, furious, and fun!

It won't be Gabranth

You're probably right. I don't think it'll be Seifer or Ardyn either, but I've still listed them, just in case I'm wrong.

After a long time of watching videos...I've decided that unless Square announces they'll be patching in higher level move sets, I'm no longer interested. There's no reason to repeatedly play the game otherwise for me.

My motivations are three-fold.

1. I bought the DLC Season Pass dangit, I'm getting my money's worth.

2. I figure there's a High Level game in here someplace. Not just regular fighting but Core Battles in particular. Core fights feel like Soccer now.

3. Leveling up the A.I. while unlocking stuff eventually pays off as they actually pick up your slack.

And single fights are still there and still fun. Even the Summon fights are a challenge.

I should add that certain HP attacks are ghastly in this game. Vaan's get really strong, Garland's are also good, and using Shiva makes HP spamming legit.

Brainfart summary of Dissidia NT character specific mechanics (because I’m tired of always looking it up on a single page):

WoL(Vn):Shield Buffs/Saber HP Buffs/Defense Buff
Garland(Vn): Gets stronger when he knocks down/Ragna+Azrael basically
Firion(Vn): Blood Sponge/Ragna basically
Emperor(Ma): Starfall/Testament Traps basically
Onion(Sp): Bartz if he was younger
CoD(Vn): Charging mah Lasers
Cecil(Vn): Ikaruga Polarity Shift (Dark Flame/Holy Flame effects HP)
Golbez(Ma): Don’t get hit by HP attacks. EVER.
Kain(As): Charging mah Jump
Bartz(Sp): Keep doing stuff and Super Buff
Exdeath(Sp): Interrupter/Anti-Buffer/Debuff-Buffer/Omni Block
Terra(Ma): Run away all day/Trance Spell/Movement Buff
Kefka(Ma): Bad Breath/Max HP Debuff/Core Decoy
Cloud(Vn): Limit Break Buff/Defense Buff
Sephiroth(Vn): Dash Cancels/Slow Field/Doom Debuff HP Attack
Squall(As): Draws Vangard>HP Regen/Marksman>Brv Regen/Assassin>Spd Up. Best to draw on Knockdown, Triggers happen half second after consecutive hits. Has dash in moves good against Marksmen.
Ultimecia(Ma): Don’t ever get hit, hold buttons for anything/Maelstrom Ball/Position is important
Zidane(As): Like Squall steals buffs but uses dash+HP attacks to steal/Tidal Flame is annoying/Trance has auto-Esuna.
Kuja(As): Move and Charge Attacks/Ally Buffer/Ultima is annoying
Tidus(As): Dash all Day/Quick Hit combo/Don’t chase after him
Jecht(As): Roman Cancel/Parry Move/Sol Badguy, basically.
Shantotto(Ma): HP based self-buff/can move cast/Big Mode is invincible
Vaan(Sp): Never breaks during EX/Brv buffer with Share Brave/HP Attack spam
Lightning(As): Secretly a Specialist/Razor Gale is annoying
Y’shtola(Ma): Boss Debuffer/Lance White Mage/Regen Bubble/Dizzy Projectiles basically
Noctis(As): HP-based Armiger buff/Chipp Zanuff basically.
Ramza(Sp): Super-buffer/Take this guy out first/Annoying HP attacks in general.
Ace(Ma): Heart of the Cards/always use Bahamut/Secretly a Specialist Buffer

The Worst Mode Gauntlet has to offer. I think you need to not die even once to get Beastmaster Title. Not easy against AoEs that track, juggles, and Shiva x2.

This is 40 minutes long, so grab a sandwich or something before watching.

Also, couple notes:
---I tackled the order of the bosses backwards because it's easier to get the tough ones out of the way first, though Shiva is still tough no matter which order you put her in.
---Bahamut, Shiva, Ifrit, Odin, and Shinryu all have the best audio tracks to unlock. The rest is mostly techno.
---I still have no idea what determines when the boss will get stunned.
---Shinryu has annoying HP attacks that track like fast missiles, so you literally NEED Perfect Defense to survive them. That said, Shinryu is actually EASIER to fight than the summons are, due to how his phases work.
---I got juggled by Leviathan and cornered by Bahamut and Alexander, so expect to rely on some luck when fighting these bosses.
---This isn't my optimal party for boss killing, but it's getting there. I hope to either add Noctis or Ramza depending on which is more effective.
---Someone used Kain to jump over HP attacks in Hard Mode runs, not sure how reliable that is though. Shantotto might be better for that.
---Not sure what all Debuffs effect bosses or which are best, but these worked well for me for the most part, so long as my allies weren't dead.
---Characters with a Buff EX are wonderful, hence why I had Bartz with me.
---I used Sephiroth mainly for Heartless Angel, but if there's a better HP attack to use, I'm all ears!

One gets the impression the development team has succeeded with this being a fighter that could legit have rankings and tournaments and stoof -- would you say that's the case?

Well, I mean, it has a "High Score" system, but it doesn't exactly do anything with it like other fighting games do. There's online ranking matches, but those are a drop in the bucket at the end of the day, and mostly Japanese players appreciate those.

Example: BlazBlue has Unlimited Mars, Score Attack, Speed Attack, Abyss Mode, etc that let you dig in to how skilled you can get...

Even old school PC fighting games typically have a Survival Mode.

It's like they wanted to be in Arcades, but they didn't know what to do once they got there.

(Oh yeah, word of advice: if the summon is spamming HP attacks all day and you got hit once, and the summon stops to check and see if you're in a wakeup status... you ONLY have time to cast Perfect Defense in that moment... hence why I managed to block some ridiculous stuff.)

I would've liked it if they brought back Labyrinth Mode from Duodecim, as you got unique items and special effects from the job cards in that game.

Despite all this, I hope this game gets the FFXV treatment and gets more content to play.

Beat the story mode today.

Made it to the summon fights a few weeks back (day of the Super Bowl, if I recall correctly.) Got my ass kicked about 5 times by Shiva, rage-quitted, and stopped playing until today, when I proceeded to beat each summon, one after another, leading up to the final boss. Did the hard modes, and beat them all, except Shiva, who continues to kick my ass.

Maining Y'shtola, with Holy, Bravery Regen, and Perfect Defense. Support is Sephiroth, with Octaslash/Heartless Angel, Provoke, and Share HP, and Noctis, Warp Strike, and Provoke/Share HP.

With Orbonne Monastery Stage from FF Tatics coming out as DLC, I bet we'll be getting a Story DLC which, given there wasn't much of
Lighting and Squall after they split up with Terra and Zidane, and the lack of Golbez even having a speaking role,
that'll happen after we get new Character DLC.

It's weird how, back before World of Final Fantasy was released, I was expecting the game to have a happy ending for all of the main characters since it's a children's game, but
both Reynn and Lann sacrifice themselves and turn into little cubes,
while with this game's story mode, teenage and adult wise, I was expecting that to have an emotional ending and a cliff-hanger, but
all of the Warriors return to their home worlds while having been summoned by the new Gods only once, leaving behind their memories and replicas who take their place to continue the Fighting while the real ones continue on with their lives(well, except the villians who most of them end up dead)
, which makes it the complete opposite.

Not to jinx myself, but as much as I'm hoping for a happy ending for KH3, I'm sadly expecting it to be very sad and the cliff-hanger to reach KH4 which we'll have to wait for several more years after the Remake.

Maybe it's me being completely weird.

It's you being weird. :monster:

Honestly I'm not going to hope for much until they fix this "offline lag".

You get a lot of particles on-screen at once and the game goes slow-mo. This is NOT permissible by fighting game standards.
