New Dissidia Arcade Game (NT)

I saw that in the video you posted! They didn't know how to translate it, but Sakura Hana was definitely Cherry Blossom. I love it :)

I did mostly Ramza, but admittedly I didn't get his gimmick, I look forward to practicing it.

Game-changer
So I was reading the user reviews online, and I think people are being a bit ridiculous. Granted, I understand why some people would be upset at needing to be a PS PLUS member to have access to the online gaming... but isn't that something that Sony started up with the PS4? It didn't used to be like that, but now it is. So it's not something I can really blame on anyone in the creative team of this game... Fighting games are supposed to be fun, and I feel like this one really delivers in that aspect. Anyone playing a character they normally would not choose at all? I decided to pick a random character to train with: Kuja, and so far, I've just been trying to master him. I like that. Keeping up with everything isn't so hard when you learn the controls. Git gud, son.

If anyone wants to add me, my handle is: tanabanana

Provoke plus Jinx are just the thing when Leviathan is in full swing.
Alexander was unexpected, but he also became wreckage!

(Provoke forces enemies to target your other allies instead of the home core, and Jinx enforces the lock, Leviathan increases debuff speed too, unless they have Esunaga.)

I also counter-pick based on my team, so since I have Marksman/Vanguard/Vanguard I deliberately pick teams with Assassins so they're easier to pick off.

Also note that Poisonga seems to be effective against Summon bosses.

Little cycle to remember:

Vanguard beats Assassin (ex: Warrior of Light vs Kain)
Assassin beats Marksman (ex: Noctis vs Ultimecia)
Marksman beats Vanguard (ex: Shantotto vs Cloud)

Specialists alternate between all three classes depending on what situations call for. (I technically count Lightning as a Specialist even though she's assigned the Assassin class).

Marksman vs Marksman is probably the toughest matchup to deal with, because of how fast-paced their hit-away-game gets.

If you're in a bad matchup, try using the terrain to get some space between you (use enemy crystals as a spell sponge), and if your allies can handle the situation better, don't be afraid to message them for help.

Also, quick Message guide:

Up > Core/Summoning
Right > Target Enemies
Left > Assist Allies/Call for Help
Down > Retreat/Regroup/Formation Tactics

Full disclosure guys, the A.I. is powerless against Cloud's Cherry Blossom.

You want to Rank up your allies?

1. Highest Rank Chaos Difficulty (or highest you currently have).
2. Set EX Skills to buff Cloud like Mighty Strikes, Bravery Regen, Boon and Provoke to get enemies to ignore him.
3. Find a good spot in a stage to hide, like behind a wall, elevated area, or behind a hill.
4. Use Shiva for Brave Recovery.

Now target any enemies that aren't moving and Cherry Blossom them!

Switch targets right away after a successful hit, but be careful nobody goes flying towards you or targets you, then just snipe away. Try to hit them when they're not dashing or trapped climbing a wall or chasing a core.

My god, this move is as bad as Exdeath's original Maelstrom.

If they target you, use Finishing Touch or Blade Beam and escape.

Skip the Summon Fights though, unless you're confident.

While I liked the story of the game even if it wasn't as good as I thought due to missing scenes that are most likely gonna be for DLC, I think the main reason why for this is because the guy who wrote the story for FFXV is the same one who wrote the story for Dissidia NT.

I think it was either
Saori Itamuro or Kazushige Nojima.

1. It's a fighting game first and foremost, based on most Arcade games, so there won't be much story initially even in the console version.

2. DLC doesn't guarantee story, especially not in fighting games.

While this is Nojima's scenario, I'm not expecting much just yet.

Consider how long it took to make the roster as big as it is, and how long it was in Arcades before coming to console, a good 3 years.

Adding even 1 or 2 characters probably won't change the story much if at all... and based on Materia's and Spiritus' designs, I think they'll be playable eventually, or serve as bosses or both. There's no mention of them being set apart from the other DLC, so they may be included with the other hinted ones, that's possibly 2 less than the ones we may hope for.

Still, they will at least add enough content to expand the game balance a bit and give new characters tactical reasons to be added (in other words it will take time for them to make legit characters and balance them).

That's true. I honestly didn't expect the console port to actually have a story before it came out.

As for the roster thing....I'm thinking that's pretty much reversed.

There were supposed to be 50 Final Fantasy characters all added up in the Arcade version before the console was released. But in reality, it's nowhere near close to 50 even now.

Whereas in the Opera Omina game, there's like more Final Fantasy characters in it and still counting(I'm still hoping for Reno and the other Turks to appear, but I don't see that happening).

So I'm thinking the 50 Characters roster thing was more fore the Mobile game than for both the Arcade and Console games.

50 wasn't really the ultimate goal, it was more like saying they WANTED it to be like that (it was said offhand, so I imagine that was them wishfully thinking).

I imagine that's not feasible in a game like this, Opera Omnia and World of FF maybe because they're simplistic RPGs, but not a fighting game of this depth having a 50 man roster... that's borderline chaos to even balance.

And there's only so many character gimmicks you can do before things get redundant to a degree.

Why am I not surprised?

They say one thing and then in the end it doesn't even happen.

Like how they talked about a remake of Before Crisis for 3DS...that didn't happen.

Next was the International release of Agito and G-Bike....utterly cancelled and shut down.

Then was Tabata talking about continuing the Type series with Type Next due to the secret ending....then he changed his mind and now that's shelved as well.

It's really hard to tell with Square Enix.

Good point. Plus, both Opera Omnia and World of FF are the new games who have restored the traditional Final Fantasy fighting style gameplay Pre-FFXI.

Piece of advice: don't lean on every word Squeenix says... you'll be disappointed. That goes for any game company really. You should consider what they're confident about doing and going forward with and what they're capable of.

Fully Learned that lesson last year already. That's why I'm still a bit hesitant about KH3 and the Remake, really.

Story Mode Leviathan is currently the only summon I am stuck on.

If anyone has tips for that fight, I'd appreciate it.

Here are my season pass character predictions/dreams based off the hints given by SE (source).

  • Male, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Male, New (from older half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Female, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Male, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Female, Old (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)
  • Male, New (from newer half of numbered Final Fantasy titles)

It's been confirmed that 'older half' is I-VII and 'newer half' is VIII-XV. Also, we know all previous Dissidia characters will return eventually. Here we go:

Ardyn
I may be jumping the gun here as having another XV rep may be too soon after the Noctis reveal. However, on a livestream Nomura said this character is a "bad guy". Could possibly be Cid Raines, but I don't think his popularity is high enough. I imagine XIII would have three heroes before getting a villain.

Minwu
Love this guy's design. He seems pretty popular among the community too. Locke may be more likely, but I'm gonna dream!

XIV rep
Don't have enough knowledge of the MMOs to even make a best guess on who this character could be. May possibly be Ashe, but we haven't gotten Gabranth yet so I consider that unlikely. Most unsure about this one.

Snow
In my opinion Snow is most likely to be the next XIII rep because he played a prominent role throughout the trilogy as opposed to the other main party members. His name is also a counterpart to Lightning's, like with Tidus and Yuna, so that makes him special in my mind.

Yuna
Simply because she is more popular than Prishe. However, they may decide to hold back on Yuna to entice players into another season pass down the road.

Vivi
Really hoping to see our man Vivi make an appearance in this Dissidia. I feel he has a higher popularity than Garnet, which is why I didn't chose her for the F/New slot above.

Now watch all these predictions be wrong. Had fun making this list though. Who do you want to see?

Here are my season pass character predictions/dreams based off the hints given by SE (source).

Who do you want to see?

Here's who I want to see as I've said before which most likely will never happen:

Reno.
He's one of the most popular Turks of FFVII and given the appearences of
Seifer, Raiju and Fiju(can't remember her name, sorry) in Opera Omnia
, I've always wanted to see Reno again in Dissidia since his re-appearence in the shut down game G-Bike and also have Quinton Flynn reprise his role for the Turk.

Zack.
One of my other favorites and I just love his personality and he's ten times(if not 90 times) better than Snow. He and Cloud pretty much have a brotherly bond between them and he was Cloud's first and very close friend and have to seen him cry and devastated at Zack's death brought me to tears.

Serah.
Out of all of the FFXIII characters, I really like Serah since she doesn't irrate me as much and her FFXIII-2 outfit is awesome. Would be nice to see her back in action instead of just Lightning again.

Rinoa.
You don't hear much from her and her sorceress skills would be totally cool in Dissidia NT. Plus, she doesn't even have a voice actress yet either. Why leave her out?

Tifa.
Want her to return for Dissidia NT in her Advent Children outfit, similiar to Cloud's appearence. She has to return because she can knock guys out with ease!

Vincent.
Still not sure why I really like him, but I admire Vincent completely. I just really like him and I'd love to see him again.

Prompto.
I know you're wondering why I'd ask for Prompto since he's not very popular...but I prefer him to Gladio and Ignis. He needs a bit more spotlight.

Celes.
Like Terra, Celes is another that I quite like. Love to see her in action.

Zell.
Similiar to Squall, I guess.

Nero
tol Scaeva.
Not sure why I'd want this guy to be in Dissidia NT, but I think he'd be a good opponent to Y'shtola as a bad guy.

That's pretty much it for the time being on my list. I'm not keeping my hopes up to see them in the game as DLC or whatever, but one can only dream.

Blade

That Man
AKA
Darkside-Ky/Mimeblade
Like I said, of the six DLC mentioned, most likely Materia and Spiritus are going to be playable. That leaves Four, unless they're deliberately not counted, and I hope I'm wrong.

Also FYI Crystal A is the highest attainable rank offline, not sure if Nightmare or Chaos Rank is even possible unless they plan to expand those.

Because this fight should've happened almost THIRTEEN YEARS AGO!
I now regret not reading that other forum topic where I *think* you explained your view of what Fabula Nova Crystallis was supposed to be. Because I have no idea where this perspective comes from that Lightning and Noctis were meant to fight each other. :wacky:

Blade

IT'S CALLED VERSUS XIII DAMMIT.

:kermitu:

(In some of the old abandoned trailers, Noctis was meant to fight Stella, but that never happened either. That's some Romeo/Juliet type stuff. Versus implies FIGHTING between FFs. Dissidia NT makes it possible!)

Also consider that Noctis originally had eyes of Etro, and Lightning was meant to "REPLACE ETRO", so the premise could've been that Noctis wanted to get Stella back after some tragedy and had to fight a "death goddess" to do it.

Caius Ballad and Noel Kreiss basically took over Noctis' role with their relationship with Yeul (who would've been Stella). :wacky:

VERSUS XIII
I admit, that took me half a minute before I realized what you meant. Never considered the multiple possible meanings behind "Versus". I just figured Square chose the word because it sounds cool. :monster:

Nice idea. I wonder then how Agito XIII would have played into the (quasi?)-shared XIII universe.

Versus implies FIGHTING between FFs.

Agito means to "Disturb" or to "Shake things up", so I imagine Agito was meant to alter the status quo situation with the Gods' relationship with the L'Cie.

By the way, Noctis and Caius Ballad BOTH fought Lightning for the same reason Noctis would've fought the gods to get Stella back if she had died. (And also, in XV's world, I imagine Ardyn's past as one "abandoned by the Crystal" might also be part of that "VERSUS" motif... an enemy of the Crystal that wasn't chosen of the gods.)

Versus means opposite/contrast. A guy on reddit thought that it was chosen because XVs story is the opposite of XIII. XIII was about going against fate and battling gods, while XV was the other way around, accepting fate and battling with them.

Granted, that's how it ultimately TURNED OUT... but you know the implications were there... since the original Dissidia came out in 2008 too.
