Day 20. Fran and Balthier. I would watch a buddy cop show about them and their shenanigans. I would watch them eating breakfast. I am eternally intrigued by their dynamic and their unending devotion to each other.

Also Noctis and Prompto cos they're sweet as hell to each other.

Cloud and Sephiroth.

.....

I'm sick, I know. :mon:

I love the rivalry and grudge between these two. They seriously have the best thematic rivalry in all of Final Fantasy. No hero and villain in FF has ties as strong as them. They're tied by their respective fates and between Cloud's struggle to free himself of Sephiroth's influence, avenge his family, Aerith and hometown and stop Sephiroth from achieving his ends, and then Sephiroth's bitter grudge against Cloud for beating him and humiliating him... Their conflict creates such an entertaining and amusing dynamic that makes the two so much fun to see together. Sephiroth's coy, twisted and dark amusing banter with Cloud, coupled with Cloud's anger and resolute desire to simply end him, play so well together. While I think Sephiroth's defeat in ACC should be his final appearance in terms of continuity in FFVII's timeline, I can't help but still see their interactions as enjoyable in other media they're in together.

...Only thing that comes close in terms of amusement is Ardyn and Noctis :desu:

But sadly that doesn't go as far.

Now in more positive relationships... I would say the relationship between Fang and Vanille is really sweet and well done. I loved how close they are and you can see and feel the love they share. Fang gives zero fucks going above and beyond protecting Vanille, and Vanille feels really close and connected to Fang and would do anything if it meant keeping her happy. That... Was really amazing and awesome to see in FFXIII's saga.

Noctis's group in FFXV is also memorable. The bonds they all share with each other is one of the best things of FFXV. They really brought the characters to life with it. The friendship feels authentic.

And finally Cloud and Tifa. The loving union of two emotional yet very awkward and shy people who've known each other since childhood but still have so much more to learn about each other. :mon:

As much as I’d love to go with some FF7 characters, and the Cloud-Tifa-Aerith love triangle is interesting to say the least, I have to go with Tidus and Yuna. Especially after everything Yuna did (even thought I didn’t like X-2) in X-2 to get Tidus back. They had a really neat thing going and a lot of chemistry.

Doesn't she break up with Tidus after he flirts with groupies too much which happens after he kicked a bomb that looked like a Blitzball and died but then came back to life again? :mon:

I'm always going to just keep remembering and referencing that horrifying audio drama and novella that scarred FFX fandom for life. Jesus, that was so uniquely awful that no one liked it at all.

Tough question. Cloud's relationship with any number of characters comes to mind, that's what makes him my favourite.
If I disregard Cloud, I come up with XIV Warrior Of Light and Tataru Taru. The chapters where you deal with Tataru's attempts to branch out and try out Jobs as you do are most precious to me. It's why I like being a Lalafell in that game. Obs will probably disagree with me on this but seeing the cutscenes with you being on eyelevel with Tataru, Wedge and Nanamo instead of everyone else feels so right to me.

There's something I love about Tidus and Rikku. It's clearly platonic with nothing muddying the waters. They have a lot in common, both being complete outsiders to this world of summoners, guardians and Yevon.
They both care an awful lot about Yuna and it's these two and their shared love of Yuna that sees the nonsense in her throwing away her life. They care not for the supposed rules upheld by the other guardians.

Day 6: Which FFverse would I like to live in

My gut reaction is to say VII, because then I am living in the same world as Cloud, but uh, given the events of VII....maybe it might be better for me to live in VII postgam-- ...err....postmovi-- .......postDoC, after all the Deepground stuff. I think I'd be most comfortable living in Edge, I think. I'd eat at Tifa's bar every day, and order stuff for Cloud to deliver for me every day so that I can see his face and fangirl over him and Tifa being cute. And then be broke because I keep wasting all my gil at Tifa's bar and Cloud's delivery service.

But I think I would really like living in VIII's world though. I mean, it's a world that's got all this military disarray and unrest going on, but to be honest, the day to day life for the most part seems very...liveable with. Very modern day technology too. I think I'd run either an item shop, or be a graphic designer (lol) for the Weapons Monthly magazine.

Day 7: WHO IS MOST AESTHETIC ONE OF THEM ALL

Cloud is obviously the most handsome of them all. End of discussion.

...

Okay, serious mode on:

Lightning has a very appealing character design in the first XIII game: Red, white, brown/beige and a touch of black makes for a very striking color combo, and her pink hair compliments her outfit very well. This is my favorite CG render of her:

latest

(...off topic but I ordered a new bag the other week, and now I'm half wishing I had waited to get the other bag (which is a nice beige color) I was waiting to come back into stock but fhfhgahjhjshuo instead of the bag I ordered ffjkhadh)

I'm in a love-hate relationship with Noctis's outfit -- I mean, I love his shirt and his jacket, but his pants....are not to my taste. (SO I SAY, BUT I DO OWN A PAIR OF PANTS SIMILAR TO HIS HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA)

Blasphemy, but I really, really, really like Noctis's old design. It's so modern JRPG, I really fucking love it.

I really like Terra's Dissidia design, especially if you edit it so that she has green hair instead of blonde. There's also something really iconic about Aerith's and Tifa's design (especially in Dissidia!) too..

....come to think of it, a lot of of my favorite aesthetic for all the ladies of FF involve the color red, haha.

Also, I love Cloud and Tifa's AC outfits -- because if you properly adjust Cloud's half waist cape thing, it looks like an apron, and since Tifa's outfit looks like she's got a waitress's pocket skirt going on, and since Tifa runs a bar...

...you guys get what I'm saying right? Tifa and Cloud's AC outfits are couple outfits with a waiter/waitress theme. HOW CUTE IS THAT?!

Day 20. Nothing in particular stands out, but if we can include group relations, I enjoy the interactions of the Turks from FFVII (not those of the compilation) and Tantalus from FFIX.

Tidus and Yuna is one of the all time best romances in fiction for me. Not just video games. I struggle to think of a movie/tv/book romance I like more.

I quite liked the relationship of Lightning and Snow too, in the first game. Especially since Serah's a complete waste of pixels, I would've liked to see these 2 end up in a romance.

Day 21.

If you had the chance to fill the role of any character in any FF game, NPCs included, and witness the story of that FF unfold from the POV of that character, who would you be and why? Would you do anything differently as this character?

I'd be
Bahamut of FFXV and just not be a dick and have Noctis kill himself to kill Ardyn over the rule of a "blood price" that must be paid in lives for power. I'd just.. Freely give it, since it makes sense and isn't a dick move to do. For some bizarre reason he and the Luccian Kings are stingy with power so I'd shut that shit down.

Better yet, I wouldn't choose Somnus to be the One True King... I would have both Ardyn and Somnus share rulership in protecting the crystal. Somnus charged with protecting the crystal, and Ardyn charge with containing the Starscourge.

And then the plot never happens :mon:

OR

I'd be
Lean Joker of Type-0 and tell Arecia to screw listening to Class Zero, and give them life again AND end the spiral. Since due to the fact they're kids, have never known a normal life, and have done what they proved to do, she might as well revive them one last time and let them enjoy a future Orience without losing their memories and having a normal life. Since she was able to return Machina to life, and she offered to bring them back... She should've just brought it anyways instead of listening to them say "no that's okay, lol" since they didn't know better. They didn't have to die for the last spiral to end, they just chose to die cause they were tired. But they had no idea what a life of no war was like, so they clearly were not quite informed in their choice to stay dead.

As you can see, I just want to screw the rules and change shit for the better no matter what the story says. :mon:

I'd be Nono, the Strahl's moogle mechanic in FFXII, I am only a spectator and trusted friend of Balthier and Fran. The only change in my life is participating in XII: Revenant Wings. Bleh.

Day 21. I think I'd maybe be Balthier. Free to roam the skies and cause mischief with a gorgeous woman I'm devoted to by my side? Ummm, yes pls. idk if I'd change anything. My instinct is to up the daddy angst but I'm not sure how much I'd actually like to live that so :monster:

Any Elder, named or unnamed, in Cosmo Canyon. To be a scholar in tune with both technology and philosophy, while also living in a remote location that is *mostly* peaceful, sounds like a nice life to have in the FFVII world.

My headcanon of Cosmo Canyon is that they are very willing to share knowledge but that their stay-at-home mentality inhibits active sharing outside of the canyon. Depending on the era of FFVII I would live as an Elder, I'd hope that I'd be vouching for more efficient distribution of knowledge via both analog- and digital means.

I haven’t even completed any of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, but I’d probably choose Snow because from what I’ve read he seems to have the best chance with Lightning. ? But maybe someone who is familiar with the trilogy can prove me otherwise. What would I do differently? Beg Lightning every day for her love! And even though this may seem kind of like a joke post, and kind of is O_O, I literally can’t think of anything else I’d rather do. ?

Can we mark XV spoilers please?

Castiel, Snow's engaged to her sister, so that could be a problem. Per AO3, Fang and Hope are your best choices. Actually kind of unusual, normally the most popular relationship is the most poisonous one possible. But I digress.

Day 19: 7, 8 and 9 as a package.

Day 20:

Romantic: Beatrix/Steiner. It's a nearly unique as a fictional relationship, because it is built entirely on mutual respect, with little melodrama or hoop jumping. They're grownups, basically.

Platonic: All the leads of FF13.

Antagonistic: Vincent and the villains in Dirge. He's so completely indifferent to all the grandiose speeches they keep making.

Day 21: Morrid. I'm not much of a coffee person, admittedly, but I like his personality. I'd probably try not to die at the end of Disc 3.

Ah, thanks for that clarification. I actually think I remember that now. From the first game? Or maybe I just heard it before. Either way, I wish they’d release the games on PS4 so I could give them another go. I don’t even think they’re on PS Now anymore.

It’s gotta be Bahamut. The dragon god of D&D, King of the Dragons. Getting him is always an event, whether he’s the moon lord of FFIV, reward for defeating a red dragon in VII, there’s IX, and he’s the final dungeon of XII. It’s hard to pick a favourite design, but VIII, IX, and X are up there.
