Well it was the Fighting Arrangement. I think it was great they left the "battle" type music in it. But yes it wasn't made for the scene specifically you can find the track in the first piano arrangement CD they came out for FFVII.

It's blu-ray, chances are they don't know what they are talking about. Plus the pro-Japanese poster(ones form mags) all have region A on it.

The only thing I could think is that the atmosphere with the music was purposely done to convey a certain sense of non-seriousness to the scene.

I'm sure they're doing CoD just because a lot of people didn't understand where this kid came from. I can't imagine a lot of casual fans would be familiar with OTWTAS and so the presence of the kid probably drew some WTFs.
The bigger question is why they felt it necessary to introduce Denzel into the story. Is it because he's "next generation" FF7? Because they wanted to show Cloud evolving into a father figure? Because they wanted to further bond Cloud and Tifa as a family? Because they wanted a human face for the Geostigma suffering? etc. etc.

Denzel was introduced to give Cloud and Tifa a larger family and essentially give them a son without them having to do the nasty.
Clearly, they wanted to actually give Cloud and Tifa their own child without actually bogging down Tifa with pregnancy. Since they wanted to have the dynamic of Cloud and Tifa being together with a kid, they needed to introduce a kid of their own. They can't just steal Barret's daughter Marlene from him.
