Aerith or Tifa?

Though I cannot think of anyone here who fits this, could it also not be argued that some feel the same for Aerith? Or the reverse - Tifa can do nothing wrong.

Great point, but doesn't that kinda happen for any character of a game that has a fanbase as, uh, 'devoted' as FFVII? Of the popular ones at least...

Yes this person was totally serious. He said if anyone acted the way Aerith did in real life and hit on a guy like she hit on Cloud, they'd be seen as a whore. Thus Aerith is a whore.

I had a tough time answering this one. Tifa is definitely a lot like me and therefore more relatable. But Aerith possesses qualities I admire, that I wish I had. I like her joyfulness, and her ability to confront most any situation head-on. Though there are moments when I find her exuberance a bit OTT and cloying.

I ultimately voted for Tifa. I did get frustrated with her insecurities at times, but in the end her quiet strength won me over.

I voted for Tifa and she's definitely the more popular of the two, and going with voter trend data from the Gamefaqs Character Battles. Tifa enjoys a great deal of mainstream support from both male and female, young and old. While Aerith pretty much only gets support from female voters.

So gender ends up playing a role in the results and it's interesting no matter how many times I have seen Tifa Vs Aerith in a poll, just how glaring the gender factor has become over the years.

I like them all differently for different reasons. Aeris stands out though, because her story is so tragic. Hell, I'll vote for her.

Tifa was actually my favorite longer than Aeris, buuuut Aeris has grown on me, like some sort of pink fungus.

She just appeals to me because she seriously has one of the saddest backstories but doesn't waste all her time bawwwing about it. I mean, this girl's earliest memory is being stuck in a lab with Hojo, which has got to fuck you up in some unspeakable ways. But she doesn't do the emo brooding, which is why I love her so much. Aeris does have her moments of saddness and lonliness, but on the whole, would much rather make what little time she has the happiest she can make it rather than dwelling on all the shitty things.

Plus I just think she's damn hilarious.

Not gonna vote. I actually don't think I like one more than the other. I really do mean that. I have both an Aerith and a Tifa Playarts. I think their personalities are very different and as such each woman brings something different to the story. But both are in fact very important. FFVII wouldn't be the same if it only had one or the other. The story NEEDS both, imho. They both are key figures to the plot, and that is before you even take the stupid LTD into consideration (LTD is unimportant and moot, imho).

But if I had to vote I would vote Yuffie out of spite and for the fun of it. I've actually always liked her. I'm a fan of her character type, I really am.

Don't misunderstand me, I like Tifa as a character, and she *is* very attractive. And I say both of these things for Aerith too. But let's not harbor any illusions about why many other people like Tifa over Aerith, okay? ;p For a lot of males, I think we all know why that is.

If Tifa gets a wide swath of support from every demographic then maybe she is just a great character.

If anything I would think Aerith's female only tilt is jealousy on their part. For whatever reason.

You know, I don't really 100% get all of the physical reasons to love Tifa. Yes, she's got huge boobs, but as for the rest of her she's way too tiny. It's an odd combo and doesn't look all that perfect. Her back skirt thing hides this fact in AC, and i FFVII you can't tell, but it's how I feel. Tifa is just too skinny, and basically has no ass. And yes, especially in CC. :/

Aerith, on the other hand, seems to have a more realistic female body. She's the one with the hips and the junk in the trunk. She's the one who is far more aesthetically pleasing to my eye.

Now mind you, these are not good reasons to hate/like the characters, but still. I'm just saying that I don't get these fanboy notions of affection. :/

I can't recall the site, but I found a gaming site one-time with a poll exactly like this, Aerith or Tifa. A good 4/5 votes for Tifa read along the lines of "I vote for the tits, besides, Aerith is dead". I'll try and dig it up again, but yeah, that's how it went.

Drake. You spent enough time in the confines of Pink to know how a bunch of them are. They love Aerith and they hate Tifa. Even when they profess to like Tifa they still demean her character.

A lot of people like Tifa more. It doesn't mean they hate Aerith. But the ones that really love Aerith are mostly female. And they seem to have it in for ole Teef.

As I said, I realize that a lot of Tifa fans actually *like her* for her character, and I'm one of them, but I doubt this type of mentality is uncommon.

Your reply itself assumes I care about your opinion. That's a curious phrase though, "care less". Wouldn't that imply that you *do* care, since you can "care less" about it? I would think "I could care more" would make more sense, implying the level of which you care is low and could be higher, as opposed to the inverse.
