Korra gets flashes of and older Sokka, Toph, and Aang

I hope that doesn't mean Toph is dead. D:

As for the love triangle Korra and Asami should hook up, problem solved.

Not really surprised, just kind of irked? It seemed so spiritual and something only the best of the best could do, but now it seems like EVERY firebender can do it. But I guess that's progress...

It still could be the best of the best. I'm sure not just any firebender could just waltz in and get a job in a factory. Otherwise how would there be any job openings? :monster:

Oh, we can talk spoilers? Awesome! :D I wanna talk! ;_;

What interested me most in this episode was not just the flash Korra had with Aang, Toph and Sokka (who, is safe to say, are all dead), but how this ties to the beginning of the episode, when that new character Tarlok (sp?) mentioned that Aang had faced another big criminal int he Republic City. I'm betting good money that she saw him, along with the others. When she flashes, we see the close-up of a face we don't know. I suspect it was him.

Which now begs the many-many questions: why? Why did Korra see that? What was the purpose? IS she supposed to learn something from Aang's actions of that time? What is it?

And how. How did she see this? Was it from Aang, trying to reach his next life in order to give her guidance (Aang was such a sweetheart, I'd expect of him to be the one trying to reach Korra to help her)? Is this a sign of the spiritual nature of the Avatar that Korra has to learn as well (and not just the physical)?

Asami... well, I find her gorgeous, but that's it. She's... bland as a personality right now. Of course, that's because she has been just introduced and as a fangirl, a means to get the Fire Ferrets in the tournament and a love interest. Which isn't very good for her character, but from an advertisement I saw, she gets into the gang, having adventures with them, so I hope she's fleshed out beyond being just "Mako's crush and a convenience for the Fire Ferrets".

Also, I love how opposites these girls are. Korra is a tomboy, Asami is graceful. Korra doesn't know a thing about city life, Asami is social like WHOA. I think these two will bounce off each other really well.

Korra has never been one of my faves in the show, but these insecurities and panic in this episode made me like her more. Her flaws leave room for wonderful character development.

I'm SO excited about this show!

Well in order for them to work in shifts and basically outsource electricity to the whole city, I'd say there is a lot more than what we saw. But like I said I begrudgingly accept that it's a a part of progress.

though I need to see more lightning action than that in this series to fully convince me

I think it does make sense, and it really mimics what happens in the real world as well.

And omg that macro...

You know, I had been thinking about that, Bender from Futurama, and how funny it would be to do something with him in it.

- The man that gave Hiroshi Sato funding must have been Sokka. Sokka was/is our main "inventor" guy in the first series and I feel they would write him in to have had a huge impact on the industrial development of Republic City even if only indirectly.
- Amon as a villain gains even greater respect from me. He has the foresight that practically ending the Avatar (this early) would hurt his goals. Could have said this by episode 3 already, but I enjoy the 'Darth Vader' vibe from his outfit and mask.
- (Again, applies to both epsiode 3 & 4) I just LOVE the old-time movie reel summaries of past episodes coupled with that dramatic narrator. Just awesome. Looking forward to seeing all of them as the series goes on.
Oh and that music that played in the radio at the beginning before Amon interrupted... <3 <3 <3
It has been said before but I say it again, this "early 20th century" atmosphere is just BRILLIANT.
- Korra's first challenge with fear was awesome to see. Seeing the sweat drip down her face in the beginning was VERY powerful.
- Tarlok is the standard unlikeable town authority guy. Feels like I've seen this guy so many times in other shows.
- Tenzin's family continues to be awesome comic relief. But even without the family, the show exhuberates so much humoristic emotion. It's just great for the heart.
- THE SCARF. STAYS. How many men could pull that off and not sound gay?

For todays episode, while I felt it was not the strongest of the 4 so far, it was still a great episode overall. And darn it, Tenzin and his family provide such great humor.

Can't wait for the next episode, seems it will focus on the pro-bending tournament and introduce Tahno.

Also Shademp FYI, it is spelled "Amon" not "Aman".

I thought it was quite sad that Mako's scarf belonged to his dad, and I was really upset the entire show, because Korra was so alone the entire episode.

She really needs some friends to back her up. Tenzin was awesome this episode if only because he was supporting Korra so devotedly and knew that something was wrong from the get go, and that hes just awesome in general(I love that we saw him fly in on a glider <3)

And as for the shipping... meh, we'll see how things go, I still abide by my previous thoughts on the matter.

And I really want to see Asami kick butt, she is said to have the best self-defense money can buy afterall ;)

And please can this happen?PLEASE?!?!?!

You have a problem with lightning bending, which the topclass Firebenders could only do going mainstream, but metalbending being something any old easily dispatched mook can do is okay even though it was thought impossible by Earthbenders for most of Avatar and exactly one person only just figured out how to by the end of the series?

Anyway Episode 4 REALLY sold me on this. It works so well, as we spent the entire previous series seeing Bending as a way of life, the terror of losing bending here goes without saying, And the villian is in his own right is such an intimidating presence (with Steve Blum giving his usual terrific preformance) and it's being played for all it counts. Pretty awesome.

I never said metal bending being mainstream was okay either...
It annoyed me how both of them came so easily to people, but like i said before, I accept that both of them are becoming more mainstream as it's a part of progress, that doesn't mean i have to like it...

And metal bending isn't as mainstream, sure there is a police force, but they have been specially trained to metal bend, unlike thugs on the street that just offhandedly know lightning bending(Mako exculded).

Zealkin has a point. You don't see just any random Earthbender on the street metal bending. They appear to be an elite police force.

i really don't know why mako/korra is so popular other than that he is the typical bishie guy and she's the main character
i mean i get she sorta has a crush on him but he's so completely uninterested in her and will be as long as he knows bolin likes her

wow this chick is evil.
look at how evil she looks.

she's so purdy *u*

i don't want her to be typically evil though
i want her to be enamored with korra and be a good nonbender or "good" equalist like
presenting their case because it's not like they do't have a legit reason to complain but right now they are all just lumped together as the bad guys and maybe she can open them up to some understanding

korra and asami achieve understanding and end the feud with lesbian love the end

Lol! I love the way she looks! She's gorgeous! :D

I don't really like Mako/Asami just because of how fast it happened. If we know anything about Bryke it takes more than one episode for feelings to get across (kataang took 3 seasons afterall!)

I am really interested in how this develops in the next couple of episodes though.
Was anyone else pissed off that Mako just fell really hard for Asami the moment he saw her though? Especially when he treated Korra like crap when he met her..I mean she's a knockout but that bothered me, Korra's gorgeous too! D:

Oh and Korra is now going to be run 8pm eastern time on Fridays. Starting this Friday! I like this new schedule a lot better than mornings :3

I don't know about relationships needing to take a long time. It didn't take long for Sokka to fall for Yue. :monster:

I think everyone knows Makorra is most likely the end game. The ship hasn't done anything yet to actually interest me though.

WOULDN'T U THO.

In all seriousness, I just took Mako's initial rudeness at his being annoyed at Bolin trying to impress a girl. I mean, it's implied it's happened before :monster: MAYBE HIS BROTHER JUST GETS HIS MACK ON MORE OFTEN AND MAKO JUST GETS MOODY BECAUSE HE'S SHY :sadpanda:

With Asami it's like oh hey totally hot totally available girl bumping into me make my kokoro go dokidoki.

Oh I never denied that.

Also, yeah, the signs are there that Mako/Korra is what will happen. The characters just haven't gotten to that point yet. Hopefully they will in a way that makes narrative sense.

Yeah I was just saying that things that happen fast like Yue, and Jet, often don't last. Except for maybe Suki but things were comparatively slower.

i have this theory that bolin brings a lot of fangirls backstage but falls for them more then they fall for him and maybe some of them end up liking mako more

so mako is just distrustful of girls breaking bolin's heart, hence his attitude towards korra

also who wouldn't react to asami the way mako did i MEAN C'MON

Me too mostly because I don't really like guys that are serious and introverted like Mako and I love guys that are charming, extroverted and easygoing like Bolin. That being said Asami/Korra are still the best.

Katara and Aang were 14 and 12 though.

That reminds me of Zuko and Sokka hilarious bonding moment in The Boiling Rock:

Sokka: My first girlfriend turned into the moon.

Zuko: That's rough, buddy.

It took Sokka awhile to find his bearings too, and he was about 16 i think right?

And older teen infatuation can be just as fickle.

Sokka: My first girlfriend turned into the moon.

Zuko: That's rough, buddy.
That's rough buddy.

My favorite line from the entire series...lol oh Zuko :awesome:

Just watched episode four. This one was even better. I don't even give a flip about the love triangle and shipping, all I want is more Korra vs Amon. I love how it seems like the conflict between them is becoming personal, unlike in the first show where you don't even see Ozai's face in the first season (or second? I can't remember), and Aang doesn't even meet him until their battle in the final episode.

But Korra vs Amon, it's just delicious.
