Eidos employee has confirmed that demo has downgraded AI and difficulty for the sake of wider playability.

So the main game should be more challenging.

How many of you pulled off the vertical and glass take downs? Those were my favorite moments.

I've gotten the vertical takedown - ultra classic, and I'm so glad it's in the game, but I haven't done the glass takedown. I can see where you can do it from the Detective view, but after the first guy, I never get any of the gunned goons to come up onto the upper level. How'd you manage it?

They seem to patrol that area pretty frequently for me.

I usually have to stun the nearest guards with batarangs so I can do it without getting gunned down, since it makes so much noise

Ah, that makes sense. I just stealth killed the first two, and vertical take down for the other guy, and then the other two stay on the ground, and you just soar down from the gargoyles and kick them,

I'll have to see about trying to batarang some of them and try a glass takedown,

How do you do a vertical takedown, for when I go play it again?

Hang down from the gargoyles upside down, and when they walk under you, you get the option to hit Triangle (I believe), and you'll do a Vertical Takedown.
