The game will pick up directly from where the original game’s memorable epilogue scene left off, before going back to the past where Dracula is at his prime, defending his castle as it’s being besieged.
Konami has confirmed that Lords of Shadow 2 “will be a game that spans centuries with much of it taking place in the present day.” The whole game won’t be split up into chapters, like the original was, as its producer Dave Cox has confirmed (via his twitter) that there will be no chapter breaks, with the whole experience set to flow seamlessly.
Konami also confirms that the game will have a larger cast of characters and open-world environments to traverse with Gabriel and his newfound powers. Gabriel will also have some new toys to slay enemies with, like the sword we see him using in the new trailer, which has been named the ‘Void Sword’. But things are different when we’re pit in the modern setting, with Dracula having lost his great powers and having to obtain them all back. His castle is the key to regaining his former abilities. Everything is being powered by MercurySteam’s new, aptly titled in-house engine, Mercury Engine 2.
As far as the main threat goes, Konami didn’t reveal a singular villain so to speak, but they did confirm that the Belmont clan will still be looking to put an end to their ancestor in the game. And Dave Cox even revealed through his Twitter that we’ll be facing a new Belmont.
