Shit, I can't claim to be a huge fan, as I'm only just working my way through Discworld, but I liked everything of his that I read, and also whenever he was interviewed he always seemed like a warm, funny and genuine person.

I know I just saw about Christopher Lee. The man was one of the most badass men on the planet and an amazing artist and thespian. We should all be so lucky to live the way he lived in his twilight years. Truly a huge loss and one of the few celebrity deaths that ever really bummed me out. (Robin Williams before him which actually freaked me out).
Rest In Peace good sir. You lived as few dared to dream.
Peter Jackson was telling Christopher Lee to scream more when Grima stabbed him in the back. Lee's response was, "Have you any idea what kind of noise happens when somebody's stabbed in the back? Because I do." He then went into a detailed description of a clandestine part of WWII that apparently involved killing Nazis.
"I was attached to the SAS from time to time but we are forbidden -- former, present, or future -- to discuss any specific operations. Let's just say I was in Special Forces and leave it at that. People can read into that what they like."
He was fluent in English, Italian, French, German & Spanish, 'moderately proficient' in Swedish, Russian, Greek and Madarin.
He was knighted.
At 86 he made it into the Guinness World Records, for the 2nd time:
The latest list of record-breaking achievements, which goes on sale on Wednesday, will see 86-year-old acting veteran Lee crowned Most Connected Living Actor. A database created by the University of Virginia mapped the working relationships between more than a million actors and actresses, and identified Lee as living “in the centre of the Hollywood universe”. London-born Lee, who has been made a CBE, was listed in the 2001 record book as the star with the most screen appearances to his name – after playing about 300 film and TV roles.
For the final few months of his service, Lee, who spoke fluent French and German, among other languages, was seconded to the Central Registry of War Criminals and Security Suspects. Here, he was tasked with helping to track down Nazi war criminals.

Always noted as an actor for his deep strong voice, Lee was also known for his singing ability, recording various opera and musical pieces between 1986 and 1998 and the symphonic metal album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross in 2010 after having worked with several metal bands since 2005. The heavy metal follow-up titled Charlemagne: The Omens of Death was released on 27 May 2013.[3][4]
