I've decided to PM these to whomever wants to vote for Cloud:
He's already dead, what else are you gonna do to him?

The image is broken but I can guess what it is.
Flint, I don't think anyone seriously would want you to change your mind. Stick your ground, come what may.All I'd like to add to the discussion at this point is that I decided which of these two characters to vote for before the poll opened, and I am going to stick with that. I'm not swayed by the "campaigning" that has been taking place in this thread, though I have to say I enjoyed reading it before it got overly serious.
Seriously though? Vivi had about as much thrown at him emotionally as Cloud, but didn't allow it to break him into someone else's pawn. All the FFIX cast pretty much held up better to mental stress than the VII and VIII cast, IMO.Flint, I don't think anyone seriously would want you to change your mind. don't google 'you shouldn't have done that'It's a Link gnome on a pedestal. I dunno what message that was suppose to send, but consider me intimidated.
(neither have i technically cause i want a perfect gameis this a good time to mention that I have not technically beaten FFIX because my game always freezes when I beat the final boss?
OoOoh!
This poll totally makes me anxious for the results. It's so much more interesting compared to the Aerith/Tifa one where the poll's too brutally one-sided. And to think that Cloud Strife has the possibility of losing in a popularity poll makes me tremble with anticipation.
I have no regrets.
I'll thank your post if you vote for Vivi.I haven't voted.
Pander to me.
and then it has to happen again in advent children because square enix thinks fans can't cope with a non-messed up cloudHere's a little bit on Cloud and why I think he's an awesome character:
He starts out as a complete mysterious badass who just waltzes in, kicking ass and taking names. Slowly, you learn that there's a crazy event that happened with his past that personally connects him to the events. As you dig into it deepend, you learn that ShinRa was modifying their SOLDIER with Mako and Jenova Cells, which makes you more cautious about Cloud. Then, as more of the psychotic experimentation comes into the light, there's a whole period of time where you believe that he's nothing but a fabricated construction of a person, just a failed Sephiroth copy with no real family, and just an instrument in Sephiroth's reunion.
He's is pulled out of that lie by the people who love him and know that he's a real person. However during that process, he also loses one of the people he loves because of his powerlessness. As if to accentuate that powerlessness, he also comes to realize that the persona that he'd been taken up was that of his best friend who was slaughtered in front of him, in order to keep him safe from capture - AND that it was just outside of their final destination. You also learn that he's not the powerful SOLDIER warrior you thought that he was, and suddenly the circumstances of the conflict of Sephiroth seem strained, even though Cloud's come to control of himself mentally. Then, in the end, everything that he's become throughout the game is what end up making him powerful enough to succeed, because it comes from the core of his being. Despite everything that's pitted against him on a mental and physical level, he manages to overcome it all against seemingly unbeatable odds, and who both discover and define who he really is.

I didn't say it was the same, just that they had a similar amount of stress thrown at them.Vivi found out his dark unknown origins, Cloud found out his life as he remembered it was a fraud. it ain't the same, and Cloud broke because he had presence in his head actively fighting him for control.
