I wasn't paying attention to this before, but it looks really. goddamn. amazing. Think I'm gonna have to play the original now.

Honestly, in my opinion after having the GotY edition on Steam: it's a very good game that hasn't aged well. Unless you can really immerse yourself into the context of the game's year when it came out, you might tend to feel a disconnect between the really flat, polygonal environments and the superb open-ended gameplay.

I first played FFVII about seven years after it was released. I think I can deal with dated graphics.

I guess you could compare it to, say, how FFVIII looked, except in the case of Deus Ex you're using these flat not-humanoid-shaped-at-all models to simulate a shooter, amongst other things of course.
It might be fine for an RPG, but there still feels like a slight disconnect.
