Yeah that's really dumb...it doesn't even make sense. Was the Japanese line ambiguous or something?

Actually... it wasn't :monster: But it wasn't the original 'go talk to a wall' either, it was 'talking to a wall'. So they didn't get it wrong, really.

Although if they were going to mess something up, maybe they should have started here.

But how does that make any sense? What's that even mean? In English, it's Squall telling them to go talk to a wall because he isn't interested in hearing it...which of course, spawns from the English line where he tells Quistis to do the same after she says talking to him is like...talking to a wall. :awesome:

And fuck all you haters up in here. :monster: I see how it is.

I assumed it was like '[it's like] I'm talking to a wall or something', like you're wasting your time by fighting.

NOT AMUSED
Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth is just about the most overrated videogame character in existence. Basically, the dude is a whiny, pissed-off loose cannon who overreacts to the discovery of his test-tube-baby birth (or FF7's magical equivalent, anyway) by trying to destroy the world. Yeah, that's perfectly reasonable. His long hair, dark clothes, and cartoonishly long sword won over legions of gamers easily impressed by generic, effeminate Japanese character designs, and he somehow ascended to the pantheon of arch-videogame-villainy because he killed one of your party members. Never mind the fact that you could use a Phoenix Down to bring dead characters back to life in any other circumstance, but hey, this happened in a cut-scene, so no take-backs.
Gamespy writer can kiss mah ass. :awesome:
Also, why do people still go on with the phenix down shit? It's only for knock outs, not when your guts are used for decorating ancient temples.

Except it's true, at least about the generic Japanese character things. Long silver/white hair is practically a staple for Japanese male characters. Sesshiroth just won the Bishonen Powerball Draw and got to be the one everyone remembers.

Why must this turn into "bash the bishie?"

Besides, Mateus of FFII was technically the first bishounen FF villain. So it's clearly not just about who looked good first.

Anyways, let's keep on topic, shall we?

Lulz, take up thy sword then and have at it. :monster:

I think every FF villain has their merits and notability. To be honest, I can't think of any that are really all that bad or dumb. Each one brings something new and interesting to the mix. Sephiroth's villainy is highly personal and he's a nemesis in terms of his evil..more so than most of the FF villains in the game. His connection and ties to Cloud run deep, which is probably why he's thought of so highly and remembered. Despite how little we see of him personally in FFVII, the pursuit of him, and the mind games he inflicts on Cloud, really leave a mark and make him memorable to a lot of people.

Kefka would probably be right up there, given his relentless pursuit of the FFVI heroes and how characterized and memorable he was in FFVI. Kefka and Sephiroth share that same distinction but are polar opposites. You see Kefka a lot as compared to Sephy in FFVII. And Kefka's a lot more unhinged and extroverted in his hatefulness than Sephiroth, who's madness is more of an undercurrent of quiet murderous intent and insanity.

I just don't think you can say any villain, especially Sephiroth is particularly overrated, especially given his success and popularity. :monster:

Because evil clowns are so original, right? :monster:

And everyone remembers JoKerfka. He is very popular too.

Except Kefka isn't a rip-off of the Joker, despite what people think. They made that connection on their own, but simple logic (Kefka originated from a Japanese video game, the Joker from American comics) will show that he isn't. Sephiroth, on the other hand, is just another anime villain.

Your logic fails. Star Wars originated in America but it have a huge influence in the FF series anyway.

Face it, JoKerfka is just another evil clown. :monster:
