After Saturday it'll be on hiatus until Christmas, btw, then I think it goes on hiatus for a couple more months, but I can't remember the exact schedule. The new companion shows up in the Christmas episode, I think,
though if you've seen "Asylum of the Daleks" it becomes obvious that she plays a character who shows up in that. It is unclear if she is the same character
.

So last night I watched "Love & Monsters." haha That episode was hilarious. It actually gave me a really heavy X-Files kind of vibe. I think there was a similar episode on that show. Not similar as in an
alien that absorbs people
but similar in that someone else was telling the story and the main characters were the ones who were running around being all mysterious.

My favorite part, though, was when
the alien has Elton cornered and the Tardis shows up. The Doctor steps out all serious saying, "Someone wants to have a word with you," and then Rose flies out all pissed that Elton upset her mom.

And then Elton is like, "There's an alien absorbing people and you're having a go at me?"

haha

Also, Jackie is such a cougar. lol

I've lost count of the number of times I've done that. :D

I've read that the fob watch on Rory's night stand is a deliberate nod to the "Rory is the Master" theory, but I can't find an actual quote from the team confirming this.

Rory has a fob watch, he tells the Doctor he's turning him into him, Amy used to make him dress up as the Raggedy Man... Rory is the Doctor Chameleon arched. :P

dafuq did I just watch?

Also, can anyone in here tell me about any Doctor Who specials and in what order I should watch them in comparison to the series?

All the specials for Nuwho all take place basically between the seasons, so, finish a season, watch the christmas special, natch.

For Oldwho, there are a few specials that were just made willy nilly, one of which was about Unit and one of the Second Doctor's companions, one of which was about Sarah Jane in the years after she and the doctor parted ways (Essentially, a pilot they didn't option), plus the 30th Anniversary special from 93 and Curse of Fatal Death from 99.

So like, when should I watch Ghosts of Mars? When should I watch End of Time?

How do I know which are the Christmas specials? I think Netflix might have those included as actual episodes, hopefully. Hmm...

I was on a Doctor Who kick a while ago, watching it all on Netflix. Then the tracking went weird. As in, the sound and picture didn't match at all, and it was too painful to watch that way, so I gave up, regrettably. I always mean to check to see if they've fixed it, but haven't wanted to get my hopes up only to have them cruelly dashed into the ground by Netflix. I hope they've fixed it, much for your sake, Tenny, as I know that's how you've been watching it. Judging from where you are, you have quite a few episodes before you get to the point that it started borking for me. Maybe I'll check it out this afternoon after class.

No problem :monster: I think Prime also has more episodes than Netflix, although there may be some that Netflix has that Prime doesn't :monster:

Wikipedia is its own time vortex*, though arguably not as bad of one as TV Tropes :monster:

Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor. :D He was my first favourite Doctor (then there was McGann and McCoy, then Davidson, then Tennant). These days my favourite Doctor is the Doctor.
Curse of Fatal Death from 99.
Written by a virtually unknown writer called Steven Moffat, IIRC. :awesome: Non-continuity, though (unless you count the Big Finish novels, which reference the Doctor having three different Ninth incarnations - TV, Curse of Fatal Death, Scream of the Shalka).

BTW, I keep meaning to write up my opinions of Shalka (which I'd love to see as a live action story some day - I can see Matt Smith making the cabaret line). It's actually interesting noting how much it has in common with the current series:

-Richard E Grant (The Doctor) also played one of the Doctor's incarnations in Curse of Fatal Death. He also appeared in cult classic Withnail and I alongside the future Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann.

-Sir Derek Jacobi voiced the Master (he played Professor Yana in Utopia).

-Alison Cheney (companion) was voiced by Sophie Okonedo (Liz 10 - she's the bloody queen, mate).

-Oh, and a background role was voiced by some young actor who begged for a role in Doctor Who. Some chap called David Tennant?

Netflix has through Season 6, I just don't know if it has the specials since it lists them separately as movies instead of with the show.

@Tenny:

Watch through Season 4, including the FIRST special "The Next Doctor" and AFTER THAT You'll have to hunt down "Planet of the Dead" (which may or may not be there, and tbh I feel is pretty skippable), Then you'll have to watch "The Waters of Mars" followed by "The End of Time - Parts 1 & 2".

(You may be able to tell that I've had to walk many people through the Netflix organization of Doctor Who).

Aside from that, the order should be fine. The only reason that's off, is because there's a hiatus of proper seasons, and only specials during 2008 - 2010, so Netflix organizes them as movies.

Netflix didn't have "Planet of the Dead" when I watched the show, which is another reason I think watching on Prime is better. I wouldn't say it's essential to the chronology, but it's a fun episode and I'm glad I watched it. I also seem to remember "The Next Doctor" being organised with the other post-season 4 specials, but maybe I'm misremembering.

I'm also pretty sure Netflix doesn't have either of the Moffat-era Christmas specials. Come to think of it, I don't think Prime does either; I think I had to purchase those from Amazon, but it was worth it.

There actually is one called Touched by an Angel which, yes, is about the Weeping Angels. I've heard it's pretty good, I may get it for my nook. I'm also looking at the one Michael Moorcock wrote. I've read the novelisation of Shada; that was good.
