The first episode will be playing in select theatres nationwide on Monday, August 25. There will be bonus footage including an exclusive prequel and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the episode, which will extend the running time to around 100 minutes.

Fingers crossed that there's a possibility I can attend this. I'll have to check it out as soon as I get home.

Speaking at London Film and Comic Con, Steven Moffat gave a few more details about how the previous Who appearance by Peter Capaldi will be explained. He said, again, that Russell T. Davies' previous idea would provide the basis, but added:

Truthfully I don't think it's something you have to resolve because audiences do understand that the same actor can play different parts.

When Peter Capaldi turned up in Torchwood, Russell said he had a plan in his head on why he looked like the guy in The Fires of Pompeii. So I emailed him and said what was the explanation and does it fit with the new Doctor? And it sort of does.

So in a very low-key way we'll address it. It won't be a major deal because in the end people know the real reason is he's played by the same actor.

What's really worrying me is Karen Gillan in The Fires of Pompeii. That's just inexplicable – I'm going to get to that eventually.

The Entertainment Weekly feature continues to be the gift that keeps on giving, with Moffat saying that this season is going to have much less of the grand arcs we've seen in his previous seasons:

Yes [there are over-arching plotlines], but at the same time 90 percent of every episode is a stand-alone adventure. ... We've got quite a lot of Earth stuff this time. But it's proper variety, and I think I'll not tell you what's going to be on the roller coaster in advance.
About the finale, which we've seen Cybermen photos of, he said: "It's not just about the Cybermen. It's a good, action-packed, mad one."

Not sure how Karen Gillan appearing in "The Fires of Pompeii" is inexplicable since with Eve Myles and Freema Agyeman it was a simple case of ancestor and cousin.

I don't see why Karen even needs to be addressed. She was wearing makeup. It's like, are they also going to have a connection between Chantho and the fortune teller woman in turn left? Same actress. One of the cat nuns also turned up in "Day of the Doctor," except this time she was playing a Time Lord. Are they going to explain that as well?

So I've been trying to decide on my favorite episode of each season of Doctor Who (Revival)and this is what I came up with:

Series 1 - Dalek. (Might be the best of the entire revival series IMO)

Series 2 - The Girl In The Fireplace. (When Moffat was coming around once a season I really did enjoy his episodes.)

Series 3 - Utopia. (This was the toughest season to pick from, so many good episodes I loved but Sir Derek Jacobi as
The Master
, just wow)

Series 4 - Partners in Crime. (I absolutely love the dynamics between The Doctor and Donna. Is my favorite Doctor/Companion relationship)

Series 5 - The Lodger. (Quite frankly I can't remember most of what happened in this season. I do remember I was very bored most of the time, Rory died a lot and Amy wasn't exactly pleasant to watch but this was a very funny episode, Craig was delightful and Amy was barely in it)

Series 6 - Closing Time. (Why wasn't Craig a companion? This season I remember a lot better than the previous one just not for very good reasons. I distinctly remember getting sick and tired of River very quickly)

Series 7 (First Half) - A Town Called Mercy. (It had Ben Browder in it)

Series 7 (Second Half) - Journey to the Center of the TARDIS. (The only point of the Moffat era that I've enjoyed from start to finish, thank you Jenna Coleman. I still don't understand why Clara wasn't a companion for the whole season, her chemistry and relationship with 11 was fantastic and I feel deprived that their time was cut short)

1. Empty Child/Doctor Dances (Dalek is probably #2)
2. Girl in the Fireplace
3. Tie between Blink and Human Nature/Family of Blood
4. Tie between Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead and Midnight
Specials. Waters of Mars
5. Vincent and the Doctor (Pandorica Opens/Big Bang is a close second)
6. The Doctor's Wife (Girl Who Waited is a close second)
7. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS or Hide or The Crimson Horror (all of this is assuming the 50th doesn't count). I'm not sure what I'd rank as the best of the first half. Maybe Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

May elaborate on these choices later but it's probably apparent that I generally agree with the Hugo voters.

We've got another interview with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman at ABC Radio, with Coleman saying that the "impossible girl" mystery will be fully put to bed this season and Capaldi saying of his previous appearance in the series:

You have to question who that character was in Pompeii. Perhaps he was not who he said he was. The full answer is not there but the question is certainly addressed. He's always influenced in his regenerations by those who are around him.
Listen to whole interview here. [Blogtor Who]

Just thought I would give you all a heads up. Netflix now contains ALL of NewWho up until this point. Planet of the Dead, A Christmas Carol, Day of the Doctor, and Time of the Doctor are all on there now, and they are all conveniently together in order. :monster:

Now it kind of makes me wish I hadn't spent $300 on the Blu-Ray set. I have them all at my fingertips now and could have saved money. :/
