Am I the only one that can't stand Japanese voice acting? Seriously, they over act worse than American actors from the 1940's. I get annoyed listening to the Japanese voices most of the time. Newbern beats the pants off Morikawa any day of the week.

No they don't. Sounds more like you just don't like the language, which is fine, but that's not a reflection on the actual talent of the actors.

They put wayyyyyyy too much into it IMO. Japanese Voice acting reminds me of some crappy film noir movie from the '40s. They just sound like crap to me, espcially Morikawa compared to Newbern. Sephiroth is supposed to be an arrogant and cool figure, and that's exactly how Newbern portrays him. I don't care for Morikawa's Sephiroth one bit.

I do. I like George's Sephiroth in CC but I really don't care for him in AC. Morikawa (spelling?) however has that devililsh sound to him, that sounds so fitting of someone who's not quite all there.

See, I've never thought of Sephiroth as insane other than the Nibelheim incident. He knew exactly what he was doing and why, he was arrogant, not crazy. This is why I much prefer Newbern.

As I've said before, Morikawa and Newbern display two very different Sephiroth's but they both fit. Morikawa, as stated, portrays the more sinister/frightening Sephiroth. (ex. "Hisashiburi da na, Kuraodo"
You say Newbern sounded bored but I think he better displays the arrogant/condescending Sephiroth. (ex. "On your knees..." or, if you prefer, "Come and try."
I actually rather like it sometimes when two versions do that with a character as long as they both fit. You mentioned Cowboy Bebop, Spike in the two languages sounds almost like a totally different character, but both are a great and its a lot of fun sometimes to hear the difference.

I approve. I wish they used the winning sales they had from other games to try and get Bowie or Hamill. God damn, it'd boost sales in the US and UK for Bowie to voice Mateus.
