Ja, because he's RDJ and he's the LEAD in a live action movie of a well-known character. RDJ better fucking do the above & know the character cause he's carrying the whole damn film. I bet you the actor who playd random dude from SHIELD didn't involve himself in the manner the lead actor did. You wouldn't even expect him to do so.Any actor worth their salt does their research if they are stepping into a role. It's, you know, their fucking job. In preparing for Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. bought like a crate of Iron Man comics and basically became the biggest Iron Man nerd in all the land, because he's a fucking professional.
RLC has a supporting role as a VA in a VIDEO GAME where the point is to beat ppl up.
There's no comparison here.
Certainly I don't need to tell you that VAing for video games is not even held in the same regard as that of film, right? Or VAing alone, for that matter. You honestly expect RLC to sit down and play FFVII and track Tifa's entire character arc through the Compilation?
The people who hired her certainly don't. There's a reason Japanese VAs tend to be better. It's not lack of talent, it's the perception of the two.
At teh end of the day, RDJ is a screen actor in a multimillion movie franchise where he plays the lead and is gettign paid accordingly. You can't compare it to a tiny part in a beat-'em-up vg. There is a different set of expectations. And VAing is different from screen/theater acting anyway. You bet your ass these two are not tackled in teh same manner, despite what the general job description of an actor is.
