Faith v. 3.0 (Cloti Club)

Has this been pointed at?

(I put this in spoilers because on my phone the tweets automatically show). I hadn't noticed that, because I was looking somwhere else (the problem of watching is probably that you miss a lot lol but then I'll have some things to look out for for when I'll be playing it). Cloud's reaction there is rather... incredible, looking at his hands and obviously feeling powerless. I feel that this is a nice lead up to ch14 scene :)

The problem is that he doesn't say her name in English, he just says, "Hey!" Idk why the localization team thought this was something that needed to change.

So I'm not sure how many people caught on.

If I had to guess it's
probably because in English it's common to try to comfort someone with the phrase "hey, it will be....", so if the point is that Cloud is failing to comfort Tifa, he's only getting out the first word of the phrase and then stopping the he realizes he has nothing he can say.

This scene is also such a good build-up for the hug scene when he's finally able to comfort her.

(Also, as much as I loved the fact that they finally gave Tifa her time to grieve over the loss of her home (again), it was so painful to watch her losing people dear to her and come to the realization that nothing could be done to save the plate from falling... so much suffering..awn my baby;;;;)

Cloud's urge to hug/comfort her starts at the beginning of chapter 13 when he sees barret doing it. The ultimania on this part says he wants to and that when he does it's because his real self comes to the foreground. His feelings in that moment are genuine, not platonic

Long time lurker, first time posting. I finished the remake about a 2 weeks ago and it is killing me that I cannot talk about it with my friends, either because they want to wait until all parts are out (which could be years from now) or they just don't have an interest because they got burned out in '97 with the original game. Both are quite understandable.

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not but I am really enjoying the character chemistry between Tifa and Cloud. I felt that the Devs were really pushing the envelope with their daily interactions with each other. I believe it is really grounded that they truly really do love each other.

Kinda reminds me of watching my childhood friends falling in love. It is funny because everyone around them knew they were in love, except them. Both hesitating at crucial points in their relationship but both overcoming those obstacles and end up happily ever after. Honestly, when you boil down FF7 story to its core, I believe it is really a journey of childhood friends finding themselves through pain, loss, and the need to be loved and cherished. Of course this is just my opinion.

I don't think I ever talked about my fav Cloti scene in the Remake, so here you go:

This scene for me exemplifies what I like most about Cloti. The mutual understanding and support between them, these little moments of companionship, is really what makes this ship shine for me.

In addition, the scene itself is so beautiful and meaningful. The soundtrack slowly changing to Tifa's theme, while she lectures him about not giving up if he wants to "play the hero", which ties in with the "hero" theme that is brought back once again (Jessie and Aerith called Cloud their "hero" in different stances throughout the game), but being the only time where this theme is used in a different way: he's not saving anyone but is the one being saved (and prob another foreshadow of the lifestream scene as well).

Like, you don't even need to see this scene as romantic (it's more of a relationship build-up aka lessening the "distance") to see the beauty of it or to realize that Tifa is really one of a few who sees and helps the hero (Cloud) when he needs the most.

Another example is the water tower scene where Tifa is visible distraught when Cloud tells her that he is leaving town in Spring.

Yes!! I love this little detail! Also, how he's trying to playing it cool when he says he's going to be away for a few years, only for Tifa to break it with a simple "Guess not!" and you can see he's a little taken aback his trick didn't work lol toooo cute!!

I also feel that the promise they made that night is a way that Tifa makes sure that he comes back. Also, along with Biggs, Barret is also Cloud's wingman on several occasions. Although the dialog gets cut short because of the Arsenal during the Shinra building chapter./SPOILER]

? Of course Tifa is. As much as Aerith, they just have very different roles.

BTW I believe that not only Tifa appreciates that Cloud is her hero, but also that he’s everyone’s hero.

Ohhh for some reason that reminds me that you could get affection points in the OG when she was in your team, and you protected her. Seems like this got done in the Remake beautifully with the number of times Cloud saves her lol.

I see it a little different, the Dev went out of his way to say that Tifa is the heroine of the story. When, he talks about Aerith he doesn't say that she is the heroine at all. He did mention that there are things in her past that he cannot talk about. I believe this is the build up for what will happen later in the story. Of course this just my opinion but I think it says a lot.

I agree 100% about that Tifa is the only that really appreciates Cloud as her hero. However, there are been several times where she saves him. I think they are both each others heroes. In all honestly.

This was already discussed in the dedicated thread - the one that talks about the Inside videos. I believe That they did that on purpose to obfuscate Aerith’s true role in the Remake. She is central to FFVII both OG and Remake, a true heroine as much as Tifa. Let’s not try to undermine the girl’s role there. They wanted it to be a surprise for people who didn’t know the game at all, as well as reassert that Tifa too is an heroine.

FFVII has always had 2 heroines, Aerith who is tied to the overarching plot, and Tifa who is tied to the hero’s plot. It’s a fine balance, let us just enjoy that.

FFVII has 2 heroines.

Aerith - the girl who saved the world
Tifa - the girl who saved the boy who helped save the world

Both of them have been referred to as heroines by the developers. There's no getting around that.

Ah, I see. I guess I am too late for that discussion. Anyways, I wasn't trying to come of brash and trying to undermine Aerith's role in FF7. Each character has their own roles to play in the story. I also keep forgetting that there are some people who haven't played the OG.

They didn't need to describe either of them as heroines tbf. Word choice matters.

I believe they did it especially to reassert Tifa’s role, especially with what we now know about Aerith. A lot of people were ready to downgrade Tifa in the OG regarding that, and with Aerith’s role expanded, it was good to remind everyone that despite everything Tifa is also the other FFVII/R heroine. I was reminded of that while reading a review that totally overlooked her and talked about Aerith as the sole heroine of FFVII OG the other day so. It’s a good reminder!

From the Ultimania:

It's the best translation I've seen I think, so better use it. I like the fact that he reminds us that Cloud is basically a kid trying to act like a grown up lol. Poor Cloud has a lot on his plate :') I like that he feels the most comfortable with Tifa though that is expected since they know each other.

Edit: there has been a slight mistranslation re: the clerith part, so here is the correction, just to be fair:

That did sound weird while I was reading, because it was the opposite of what was said re: the clerith ch14 scene.
