Ok! Now I realized that what I posted in the LTD thread should have been posted here lol

But as I said there: Midgar part is heavily AerithxCloud IMO, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much content Cloti got (most of it non-optional btw) and how they're building such a great foundation for their relationship from the beginning like..wow... it almost makes me want to believe that SE will really put an end to the LTD this time :mon:

They did say that whatever a girl was getting, then the other was getting the same amount of attention. This is why I'm very wary of the LTD right now and I remind everyone that while the story seems seamless, a lot of people are getting different things. So as long as the Ultimania isn't out to tell the story from the ideal point of view, it's going to be hard to argue for one or another.

But yeah when I read some people saying that Cloud and Tifa don't have any chemistry, I always wonder what the hell do they have in their eyes lol. Because hot damn. :aah:

In the OG, I always had the impression that Aerith and Cloud had better chemistry. I’m not sure if this was intended. Because playing the remake, I am really leaning Cloti. They just have this synergy that I don’t really feel Cloud has had with anyone else yet. I wonder if this is how it was always supposed to be and I was just filling in the blanks wrong.

I noticed that Cloud is a lot nicer to Tifa than he is to pretty much anybody else. They were playing up the fact that He and Tifa were friends since childhood more than the original did I think. Cloud definitely seemed less tense around her.

Their relationship at the beginning of the game is much better portrayed here than in the OG for sure! From what I gathered from the non-optional scenes, even if you favored Aerith throughout your playthrough, there is no way you can't end this game thinking that Cloud and Tifa don't have a really strong connection.

Also,

They toned down/removed a few Clerith scenes that were somewhat romantic in the OG game so...yeah:mon:

The LTD still stands tho... and part 2 will definitely be where the will add fuel to the fire.

Edit: Spoiler tag fixed. Thanks @Eerie !!

reluctantly at that. He's clearly not happy, but he trusts her and that's the important part

I've read comments before seeing the scene about how

Aerith has to prompt him to go save her, but in reality, even if he's unhappy about that, he does trust her TONS, which is why he's at first obeying her order and reluctant to go save her. I was in fact VERY happy with this scene.

@Yumelinh to add spoiler use the (spoiler)(/spoiler) tag (with brackets [] instead).

same.

He tried to argue, but then agreed because he's considerate to her feelings. He doesn't want to insult her by suggesting she needs him or admit he wants her to need him. So he backs off.

There's a thing called nuance that Aerith shippers seem to overlook a lot. They also conveniently forget stuff like Cloud being supportive to Biggs, Wedge and Jessie in chapter 4 and smiling and joking with them. He also offered to walk Wedge home afterwards to make sure he was safe, but ask them and Cloud didn't try with anyone before he met Aerith again.

There's also a lot of weird statements like Cloud was chatty during the Aerith bit, but I literally replayed from chapter 3 up to the honeybee today and he wasn't any more or less open towards Aerith than he was with Tifa. They can take that as a win if they want because Tifa's meant to be closer due to their friendship, but Cloud says like 4 times he doesn't know what his relationship with her is. Not surprising since his head is all over the place. Him denying Tifa is his gf isn't a win for them either. It's the truth. She's not his gf or special someone. That's why he says he doesn't know. He's confused.

I don't know if this would qualify as a spoiler, but it really felt that there were more Cloti moments even when I was equally nice to both girls the entire game.

And is it just me or...

Forgot which chapter, I kinda breezed through the game... but that part when Shinra was about to drop the Sector 7 plate with Cloud and Barret in there, while Wedge, Aerith and Tifa were down below, and Aerith told Tifa to "follow your heart" (it was admittedly cheesy, imo lol).

Then Tifa rushed to the Sector 7 plate to meet Cloud (cue Cloti hand grab in the trailer). It felt like Aerith was giving Cloud to Tifa right there.

I wouldn't go that far but

it definitely felt like Aerith was saying she was OK with Tifa falling for Cloud. Like, she's not gonna be like her fans and go on a hate fest because they like the same guy, so it's more a women supporting women moment from my pov, which is also important cause all this dragging from fans is so lame

She also smiles when she sees that Cloud gave Tifa the flower. As I said in other posts, I definitely think that there’s something going on with Aerith and the way she acts with Cloud, though I’m sure we’ll see their relationship develop in the next parts.

Speaking of the flower, I just saw that if you refuse to buy it Aerith tells Cloud that it will make his girlfriend’s day and he’s like “…………… How much?” ddslmcxn I'm a grown ass woman I should be too old for this shit

I don’t want to come off as a weirdo but I think one thing that really surprised me is the amount of general touching going on between Cloud and Tifa…? I guess I kept thinking back to AC where the emotional distance was highlighted by the physical distance basically in every scene they were in. It’s a very different HD depiction, though the circumstances are also very different, of course.

I also felt that the remake shows how Cloud has this deeply instinctual need to avoid that Tifa gets hurt, which makes sense given that the worst memory from his childhood is the day that he couldn’t save her when she fell and almost died, not to mention that he feels he failed her again during the Nibelheim incident. It’s like even if he doesn’t remember it, it’s all engraved on his brain and heart.

Why does everyone falls from a height all the time in these games tho

Like, watch where you're going guys

I lost count of how many times he got in front of her to act as a shield, all the hand grabs, low key touching, hugs, looks like damn boi you got it bad and don't even realise it lol

Gotta say though, that voice over at the air buster bit when he glitches out at remembering he failed her before broke my heart. He sounded so crushed by it.

This probably isn't anything, but

in wall market during the party never stops side quest, the dressmaker's son says "Age has nothing to do with maturity."

Now, I get he's talking about his father, but it just made me think about how one of the big arguments for clerith is Aerith being a year older than Cloud and his mother going on about older girls being more mature. Then here, we've got a statement to the opposite, that a physical age means nothing.

It was also the case in the OG, you could never be a dick to Tifa while you could say some really mean stuff to everyone else. But because of the format, I think people did not realise this. It was one of the points for CloTi in the LTD, that deep down he held her close to his heart since he was always nice to her (neutral at most, which is way better than what you could say... in the OG, Cloud is much more meaner than in the Remake, in my opinion).

Yes, it has also surprised me, at some point in ch5 I was like "just get a room you two", I mean, how am I going to play with my husband making comments next to me LOL? I was so embarrassed at some point.

Speaking of falling from heights,

I really enjoyed when Tifa saves him and tells him he's gotta do better if he wants to be a hero, that was a true CloTi moment here, and not optional since the guy was doing an Aerith playthrough! And of course on the pillar, he does save her and prevents her from falling ^^
