Pretty sure
during the train graveyard scene where a carriage drops that Cloud protected Tifa alone. Like, he threw himself on her and is definitely leaning over her, looking at her when he asks are you OK? He doesn't say are you two/both OK? It's just directed to Tifa.
Now, maybe that's to balance the scene where they all fell through a carriage roof and apparently he asked Aerith if she was OK and ignored Tifa (even though I'm pretty sure he was looking dead at Tifa again once the camera panned back) or maybe it's not

Not a spoiler: that scene with Cloud's mom, he's 16. People seem to forget that. He's 16,Tifa is just 15 and Aerith - miss mature older woman - is 17. Cloud's mom wasn't talking about Aerith in this like some kind of foreshadowing. She mentioned an older woman for his 16 year old baby because she couldn't exactly say "get a surrogate mom because you're a hot mess and I'm worried about you". It was anything specific to Aerith, she just happens to be a year older. Tifa's also more emotionally mature than Cloud, who has spent several years in a tank, so technically Tifa is older than him because his emotional development stalled.

The train graveyard scene is one that changes depending on which girl you pick. I saw this on an Aerith run, so I'm 100% sure about it.

Maybe we are not talking about the same moment, it seems there are two different times where Cloud asks that there?

there's a scene where they drop through a carriage and he asks and Aerith answers, but when the camera rotates back he's pointed in Tifa's direction.

Then later during the ghost kid cut scene and the spectre drops a carriage on them, they leap out of the way and Cloud can be seen leaping towards Tifa and shielding her. It's hard to see right away when the camera pans over the destroyed carriage, but he's definitely covered her completely and asks if she's all right.

In Shinra's tower, when they go to save Aerith (I think ch16?), did anyone noticed

that when Sephiroth hijacks the Shinra's propaganda, he kills Tifa just like he kills Aerith in the OG? I wonder if it's why people are afraid that Tifa's going to die this time around? I'd argue that no, because he kills Barret right after - it seems more like a nod to Kitase (I think it was him, not 100% sure) and Nojima who wanted to kill off everyone at the end of the OG lmao.

I also think that only Cloud saw this, Tifa and Barret only saw Meteor being summoned, or else they'd have freaked out. Probably because Sephiroth killed them so fast they didn't realise and were out of the "vision" before realising what was happening.

Cloud was the only one who saw Sephiroth do it. Tifa and Barret make a comment about how the sim made them feel sick, so I'm guessing they both just collapsed and got taken out of it when he attacked.

I mean, technically it did predict a death, so I think it might have some kind of importance. Maybe more towards making Cloud think about who he really loves. He saw a vision of Aerith dead, but he saw Tifa die in front of him. That's a powerful motivator. His expression during it is more emotive than he's been for most of the game. Maybe Sephiroth just ships it and wants Cloud to make up his damn mind lol

So, I did rewatch that scene, and what struck me there was that it encapsulate CloTi really well:
- first, Cloud tries to impress Tifa by reminding her that he's a SOLDIER
- then she does the talking and he's stunned/doesn't know really how to react to her pain
- so she takes the next step to get that shoulder she needs to cry
- and he ends up hugging her (too strongly lol), which does end the scene in a physical way

And I was like... Really if you don't know the pairing, it's a nice scene, but dang when you ship those two, it's like a giftbox lol. <3

That is a good question. I have really no clue. I know that:

The train jump can be skipped if you take too much time - apparently that's what someone was claiming, but it does seem quite unavoidable, as a whole.

Also I think we all appreciate that Cloud remembers the promise by himself ;)

To me when Cloud and Tifa talk in the carriage and he choses to trust her is a shippy moment though I am not sure that it is the same for everybody XD That's one not skippable either.

That save after the Rufus fight is also not optional, that's for sure, and a nice call back to the promise.

I haven't watched everything either! So if you guys know about more scenes, be my guest ^^

I didn't know you could skip that one. Have anyone tried this before?

Well I'm not 100% sure, it's all hearsay, I haven't watched it myself so far, so take this with a grain of salt.

not exactly skip, you pretty much need to fail and let the time run out (and then Cloud jumps on his own) to avoid getting that
Cloti scene tbh :mon:

I think someone posted it on twitter yesterday, so I'll try to link it here later today.

I'm curious.

Which 'shippy' parts are considered optional and which are not?

There's a lot of non-optional 'shippy' moments as far I noticed ( I need to do an Aerith playthrough to be sure tho), but jealous Cloud when they were on missions around the slums, the talk in his room, the "Beautiful!" scene and so on...

I tried it today and yeah if you wait for the timer to completely run out (a pain in the ass to do) Cloud gets locked in that section of the train by his lonesome so he can't jump with Tifa. You're then alone as Cloud for a bit until you run into Tifa. There's a little bit of dialogue there where she says she hesitated with the jump and got separated from Barret. iirc you also don't see Tifa telling the Shinra Manager that she doesn't want people to get hurt.

the drink is non optional. No matter what you choose he calls her beautiful.

Alone at last discovery is optional, you can not get it by skipping side quests or just avoiding it for the main story I think and you get Tifa in the blue dress.

The train jump, yeah, you can run down the timer.

Choosing Tifa in the sewer. If you pick Aerith obviously you get her speech, although it's empty compared to what Tifa says.

Resolutions rely on everything you've done to that point.

Everything else all the hand grabs and touching are non optional. Cloud also leaps on Tifa to shield her during the train graveyard section and that choice is non optional too. Basically every save is non optional. He's her hero. She's his.

question about part 2?
Part 01 kind of made both ships standing on the same ground when it comes to key moments/interactions, so I wonder were SE will go from here, or more like... what are your hopes in terms of cloti moments for part 2 based on what we got until now?
