"Cloud, you're smiling."
"I am?"
"Yeah."
"It all starts now. A new..." Cloud looked for the right words. "A new life."
"I'm going to live. I think that's the only way I can be forgiven. All sorts of things... happened."
"But when I think about how many times I've thought about how I was going to start a new life, it's funny."
"Why?"
"I've always failed to do it."
"And you couldn't smile."
"...I think it will be all right this time."
Cloud became very quiet. "Because you've always been with me."
"I've always been with you."
"That's tomorrow's story," Cloud replied, smiling again.
(Tifa) "Cloud, you're smiling."
(Cloud) "I am?"
(Tifa) "Yeah."

(Tifa) "That's not funny."
(Cloud) "...I think it will be all right this time."
Cloud thought for a while before he continued.
(Cloud) "Because this time it will be together with you, Tifa."
(Tifa) "Haven't I always been with you?"
(Cloud) "It's kind of different in some ways."
Cloud replied, smiling again.

After the first week of being open, Barret said that he would go on a trip seeing how well the business was going. He was going to leave Marlene behind.
"I wanna go on a journey to settle my past."
Cloud nodded as if he understood. "Settle your past...? But I want to do that too."
"You guys can do that here. Don't just take. Try proving that you can give, too."

(Barret) "I wanna go on a journey to settle my past."
Tifa was disturbed at Barret’s words. Cloud nodded calmly as if he heard about it before.
(Tifa) “Settle your past…? But I want to do that too.”
(Barret) ”Tifa, you can do it here. Don’t just take. Try proving that you can give too.”
After saying that, Barret said he still has to get ready and walked out of the bar.
(Tifa) “You knew it before?”
(Cloud) “Um”
(Tifa) “Did you stop him?”
(Cloud) “I didn’t because he said this place is Tifa’s.”
(Tifa) “…I see. If that’s so, it can’t be helped then”
Does Cloud also think that? Actually, I wanted to ask him that.

Friends were a necessity to me so that I wouldn't get supressed by the sins in my consciousness. Even if they were companions that had the same wounds or were burdened with the same sins. We couldn't live without comforting each other and encouraging each other.
You could call that family, maybe. We just had to unite our family's strength and do our best. Tifa thought she could get over anything being with friends that she could call family.

(Tifa) “A family.”
(Marlene) “Um”
Marlene cheerfully answered to Tifa’s murmur.
(Marlene) “I’ll put Cloud into our family too.”
(Cloud) “I appreciate that”
After Cloud thanked to Marlene’s innocent offer with his serious face, he looked at Tifa. Tifa nodded a little. Would there be various problems occurring after this also? However, Tifa thought that she should stop worrying about the relationship between two of them.

"Well... I'm sorry I kept quiet about it."
"About what?"
"Doing what I wanted."
(Cloud) "Well... I'm sorry I kept quiet about it."
(Tifa) "About what?"
(Cloud) "Doing things without consulting."

Cloud closed his eyes.
"Let's work hard together."
Cloud didn't answer.
Cloud closed his eyes.
(Tifa) "Let's work hard together."
Tifa waited for his answer, though she couldn’t hear it even if she waited until the morning.

Not long after that, Cloud brought Denzel with him. When he brought him into the bar, he was already unconcious. It was Geostigma. Cloud said the symptoms looked like they just started not long ago. As Tifa nursed Denzel, she thought of how there were many children who were infected with the same illness. There were also a lot of facilities set up for children without parents. Despite that, why did Cloud bring Denzel here? Just when Tifa was going to ask him, Cloud muttered something.
"This kid came to my place."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean..."
Shortly after that, Cloud brought Denzel back with him. He was a boy who used Cloud’s mobile that he leaved with his bike to ring the bar. Picking up the phone, Tifa was worried about what happened to Cloud at first, but soon she realized that there is something wrong with the boy. Finally, Cloud picked up the phone when she could not hear the boy’s voice anymore. Tifa tried to ask how he is, but then Cloud spoke haltingly somehow.
(Tifa) “What’s wrong? Is the boy ok?”
(Cloud) “Nah, he seems to be painful.”
(Tifa) “If so, why don’t you bring him back with you?”
(Cloud) “It looks like he has Geostigma.”
Tifa couldn’t reply to what Cloud said right away. Geostigma is a disease that spread through out the world since the day Lifestream halted the Meteor. The way to cure it hasn’t been found yet. The patients also vary --some look healthy that no one would think they are sick and some died right after they got the disease. Then, the most important point for Tifa is that there is a rumor that Geostigma is transmittable. It might infect someone in the family. Based on Tifa’s experience, she believed that it would not be transmittable or else any healthy people in the world would die if the rumor is true, though she still felt uncomfortable. Moreover, the rumor is persistent no matter what the truth is; consequently it might affect the image of the bar. However, she already said to bring him back, so she couldn’t say no because of Geostigma.
(Cloud) “I heard Geostigma is not transmittable.”
Cloud said as if he presumed her hesitation. Then, she realized that Cloud want to bring this child home.
(Tifa) “Yeah, bring him with you.”
(Cloud) “I’ll bring him through the back door. Is there anyone that can look after Marlene?”
(Tifa) "Yeah."
Hanging up the phone, Tifa thought it’s odd that Cloud is aware of Marlene and the bar. In the end, she understood. Cloud thought that Tifa would oppose. Even so he wanted to bring him back. Tifa wanted to know the reason, though after he was actually brought back those questions have lost somewhere during the time she was taking care of him.

After Denzel recovered, she listened to his story about everything that happened to him before he arrived here. Then she thought to herself that he was supposed to come here. He was one of the victims when Sector Seven was destroyed. The reason why Sector Seven was destroyed was because of us. That's why I had to take responsibility and raise him. He didn't go to Cloud's place. He met Cloud so that he could come to my place.
Tifa discussed with Cloud and Marlene about how she wanted to welcome Denzel into their family. Cloud nodded silently, but Marlene was full of joy.
At first, Denzel was persistent in helping them as thanks for taking care of him, but while helping with Cloud's job and in the shop, he opened up his heart.

I must take responsibility to raise him properly. Denzel met Cloud in order to come to me.

The number of customers had visibly deceased. The reason was clear. Of course, Tifa, Cloud and even Marlene never speak about it.

"Hey, do you remember what you said when you brought Denzel here?"
"What did I say?"
"You said Denzel came to your place."
"Well..." Cloud looked like a kid that about to be scolded as usual.
"Tell me. I'll decide whether I'm angry or not after I listen."
Cloud nodded and continued.
"Denzel had collapsed in front of the church where Aeris used to be. That's why I thought Aeris lead him to 'my place'."
Saying all that in one breath, Cloud looked away.
"I went to the church."
"I wasn't planning to hide there."
"You were hiding."
"I'm sorry."
"I didn't say you couldn't go. But next time, go together with me."
Cloud was dubious as he looked at Tifa.
"Aeris didn't bring Denzel to you."
"Yeah, that's what I thought too."
"Aeris brought that child to us, didn't she?"
Cloud gazed at Tifa and finally smiled. It had the kindness that made her think everything was fine.
Days after having that conversation, Cloud left. Tifa wondered if that smile he showed her was an illusion. After kissing the sleeping children on the face, she went into Cloud's office. She brushed away the dust on the family photo they took, then tried calling him. After several rings, the messaging service took over.
(Tifa) "Hey, do you remember what you said when you brought Denzel here?"
(Cloud) "What did I say?"
(Tifa) “A lot of things. Even if I opposed, you would bring this child back with you. I had such an impression.”
(Cloud) “That…”
Cloud was making a face like a kid who is thinking he would get scold at any times.
(Tifa) "Tell me. I'll decide whether I'm angry or not after I listen."
Cloud nodded and continued.
(Cloud) "Denzel had collapsed in front of Aerith’s church. That's why I thought Aerith lead him to me.”
Saying all that in one breath, Cloud looked away.
(Tifa) "You went to the church."
(Cloud) "I didn’t intend to hide it from you."
(Tifa) "You did hide it.”
(Cloud) "I'm sorry."
(Tifa) "I didn't say you couldn't go. But next time, I’ll also go together with you."
(Cloud) “Yeah.”
(Tifa) “And you’re wrong, Cloud.”
Cloud was dubious as he looked at Tifa.
(Tifa) "Aeris didn't mean to bring Denzel to you."
(Cloud) "Ahh, I only thought that."
(Tifa) “I didn’t mean it that way.”
(Tifa) "Aerith brought Denzel to our home."
Cloud gazed at Tifa and finally smiled.
