Eh?
Okay, that might be overly harsh on Dirge.

I got it when it was released, all excited for some new FFVII content and played shortly past where you rescued the kid from that container and then never picked it up again. It's very rare for me to abandon a game so quickly, and it wasn't even a concious decision. I didn't react with a "this is terrible, I'm not gonna play it", I just didn't continue it. But, it might not be that it was because its a terrible terrible game. It was that I wasn't feeling it, I just don't think the game itself was my thing.

I later watched a lets play to get the plot and it was OK, a bit ridiculous, but OK.

Considering Dirge was Square's first foray into making a 3rd Person Shooter, it's sadly unsurprising that it'd be rough around the edges. And it's got all the quirks and tropes a JRPG-esque game from 2006 would wear on its sleeve proudly. Very dramatic and very anime. They fucking put Gackt in there for some damn reason. With weird ass emoting and questionable dubbing at times.

But it amuses me to no end. :monster:

Hey Mikey, where's your Dirge thread?

Nonexistent.

But I kinda wish I documented the feelings I had while watching a playthrough. It's certainly something.

I get the appeal, it's just not for me. If I wanted to play an edgy 3rd person shooter I'd just play DMC.

They honestly should've went in that direction with more RPG elements and specialized combat using Vincent's limit breaks than a straight by the book shooting game.

They could have made the online mode even more insane that way too. :monster:
