Anyways, I remember reading somewhere that Vincent recognizes Yuffie's weapon because of Cissnei. Which...makes no sense, unless Cissnei looks really, really good for her age. They never met, did they?

I had actually considered that for a moment before I realized that Cissnei is probably around the same age as Zack. So...unless she went knocking on his coffin, I don't know how they could know each other.

Maybe it's just that seeing Yuffie's weapon, Vincent remembered having seen that kind of weapon... on Cissnei.

Actually she's not. If you count Before Crisis in your canon, Vincent did wake up and gave Veld and one other Turk (you) a hand in defeating the monsters in Shinra Manor. There's a good chance the other Turk was Cissnei.

I know they didn't. I just figured that while we were all coming up with crack explanations, I might as well throw out a situation that Square at least came up with.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where the rocket in Aerith's church comes from? It's upside down, like it crashed through the plate which explains why there is a hole in the plate for Zack and Cloud to fall through, but are its origins ever mentioned in the game?

You don't get a Game Over if you lose to the Snow Lady in the Great Glacier. Instead she mocks Cloud, who falls to the ground. You are then transported immediately to Holzoff's cabin, just as though you had collapsed in the snow.

TO THIS DAY I have not found the Added Cut materia in the Great Glacier. And depending what I do on the snowboarding its crapshoot as to whether i actually make my way over to get the Alexander. But I'm pretty sure the Added Cut is the only materia that I have never possessed. And it bothers the hell out of me.

I feel very confident in the Great Glacier nowadays.
Added Cut; just take the road that leads the farthest to the east and when the path divides in three take the upper right road (where you have to walk really far until you get to the next screen). Pass another screen and you shall find your Added Cut on the snow.

Quite simple.

It also seems I found yet another example of how the PC script gets something wrong that the PSX script got right.

When they did the PC version, did they translate from the Japanese script? You would think they'd have both the Japanese and English scripts when doing this, then maybe they would have caught that. That is a rather strange mistake.

I do not know if the PC script was a complete re-translation, how many of the old translators were on board or if they had both the Japanese and English PSX script in front while they worked on it. May be possible to find this out elsewhere on the interwebs but I'm busy with other stuff...plus I'm lazy.

Oh no, I didn't expect you to go look it up or anything. I just thought maybe you knew. I mean, if they're working only from the English script, then I don't understand how they can mess it up. Unless it was a typo

I realized another reason why Nibelheim is called Nibelheim. Aside from being the location land of the dead in Norse mythology, Nibelheim's literal translation is Home of Fog/Clouds, in other words, it's English name is "Cloud's Home".

I got a chuckle out of the scene in Mideel when one of the old guys are talking about Cloud.
“It was really sad…but weird.
He was holding this really long
sword.”

Cloud drifts all the way from the Northern Crater to Mideel, through the Lifestream, and STILL he holds on to his sword! It's not like the old guys are saying "he had this really long sword attached to a magnet on his back", nono, he was HOLDING ON to it.

That is devotion. The sword could have easily been lost in the Lifestream or the Northern Crater.

I think in a remake maybe they should have it so that Cloud leaves the Buster Sword behind before the Reunion takes place then the crew returns it to him when he comes back.

Edit: *pictures Tifa looking at Cloud's Buster Sword with misty eyes* It would be a great scene for Cloud to let go off the Buster Sword in the Northern Crater, looking at it and saying "I won't need this anymore..." then dropping it to the ground.

I'm assuming you mean right before Cloud gives Sephiroth the Black Materia. 'Cause if you are... yeah, if SE ever does the remake, I would really like to see them do something like this. The Buster Sword stands for a lot more now because of Crisis Core, so seeing Cloud give up not only Zack's legacy, but ultimately Angeal's legacy in favor of Sephiroth's would really hit home how badly Sephiroth has been messing with Cloud. I like it.

I mean, it's a dig site, so supposedly you're digging up the part of the dig site that hasn't been dug up yet by the archeologists, so how long has the Key to Sector 7 been there? Unless of course someone put it there on purpose...

I mean, it's a dig site, so supposedly you're digging up the part of the dig site that hasn't been dug up yet by the archeologists, so how long has the Key to Sector 7 been there? Unless of course someone put it there on purpose...

Actually, the NPC that stands outside of Sector *5* (not 7, despite the misleading number at the Slum Outskirts ) explains the origins of the key.

“That's funny…I dropped the key
to this gate…somewhere.
Must've been on that
excavation tour.”

Though yes it IS sorta weird that they have to dig for the key; the only explanation is that the excavators dug up a hole, the key fell in, then they filled that hole (which would be sorta...weird, yes) and had to dig again to find the key.
