FFVII REMAKE CONFIRMED

I'm waiting for the entire trilogy to be out before playing it.

I have an endless number of other games owned, wishlisted, or upcoming that I want to play. And waiting means I get games cheaper, or most of the time nowadays for free some month on PS Plus.

Playing games back to back sounds daunting, but you don't have to do that. I can choose how long to wait between playing each one. Play them as they come out and I'm forced to wait five years.

I have a friend who wants to wait for the trilogy to be complete too, but I wonder if she'll manage...
In any case I'm sure we'll see lots of re-releases, remasters, ports, side-projects, spin-offs, even spin-offs of spin-offs for years to come.
I just hope to be alive and not too senile to play/read/watch it all by then, haha..............

Whisper Rebrum, Viridi and Croceo seem to represent Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo from FFVII Advent Children, fighting to save their own future (referencing the entries that appear after using the Assess materia on each). Is this true?

The Whispers are capable of forming monsters from all the memories in the flow of time, and I think that includes the characters who exist or will exist in the timeline as well.

Motomu Toriyama (Co-Director(Scenario Design))

So, they're not Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo per se, but rather truly Whispers who took their forms!

Next, the party are shown memories of the future as told in the original FFVII, was there ever a concern that this wouldn't be obvious to fans playing Remake with no prior knowledge of the original FFVII?

Cloud and the team do not really understand what they are seeing in the scene where they are granted memories of the future either, so it is fine if the full meaning behind the visions is not communicated to the player.

Motomu Toriyama (Co-Director(Scenario Design))

Yup, their decisions stemmed from incomplete knowledge.

Thank you for sharing your memories and thoughts of working on FFVII Remake. Is there anything you would like to say to fans who have been reading this whole blog series?

As it says at the end of the game "The Unknown Journey Will Continue", and Cloud and his friends will be on that journey for a while yet. From here on in the Whispers cannot act to maintain the destined timeline, so fans can look forward to seeing what kind of future awaits the team.

Motomu Toriyama (Co-Director(Scenario Design))

Lol, what a troll.

I liked the bit about their swordfight coordinator pointing out that if Cloud had any hope of winning in a swordfight he'd have to keep pressing up close to remove Sephiroth's range advantage and so they made the scene reflect that.

The rest was as eyerolly as I assumed it would be :monster:

Totally read this as "we know we fucked up with the whispers so now they're gone for good"

Yeah don’t hold your breath folks, Zack’s still out there and the “unknown journey” train shows no signs of stopping anytime soon…best either make peace with the wild ride we’re on or barrel roll your way off to whatever else life has in store lol

You really think they said anything new in that statement?

The clarification on the natures of Whisper Rubrum, Viridi, and Corceo is the only new info. They were copies of the Remnants of Sephiroth, not the real deal.

Looks like the Japanese fandom might be getting a new Cloud Strife seiyuu after over 20 years :monster:

Tatsuhisa Suzuki is the only seiyuu I've seen who's career has been damaged by a cheating scandal. And that's because he's married to superstar singer LISA. I've seen seiyuu's careers destroyed for other reasons like drugs (Pierre Taki), domestic abuse (Ren Ozawa) or being a woman who talked about her sex life(Aya Hirano). So the chances are slim he'll face any real consequences.

Yeah I guess it'll truly depends on how big this becomes in Japan. At this point, he must already be working on Rebirth, maybe he even finished his part, so that'd leave only the third game and will SE truly want to change Cloud's voice for one last game? I'm doubtful.

However, he might get not as many interviews as before for his role now.

For cheating? Just… adults being bad to one another? That doesn’t usually get the kind of lasting bad press to wreck a career in the arts.

I should say “the arts” with exception to internet bloggers/influencers like Try Guys, who make their “real life personalities” their performance art, wherein parasocial relationships become vital to the craft rather than exist as negligibly marketable byproducts of success.

He fucked around with this woman for almost 10 years, and she didn't know he was married.

The two of them talked about getting married. While he was married.

This wasn't a fling. He ruined this woman's life. This was a long term relationship while he was married. And this isn't like the US where people can shit where they eat, fuck around, and tear lives apart. In Japan, honor and dishonor carry meaning so he's done. This is a career ender because he'd sully the reputation of any business that would continue working with him.

If Olaff's Japanese dub seiyuu can lose his career over smoking weed, and Li-Mei Chiang can get fired from 5Ds for being a victim of a Japanese sex cult, a 10 year adulterous affair is more than a career vulnerability.

I mean, Pierre Taki's cocaine thing lost him Olaf and about a year of music sales, but he's back to getting roles and his band's back on sale and streaming.

Tetsuya Komuro commit fraud to pay his ex-wife's alimony. After avoiding jail (because he's famous?) he went back to producing... for about ten years until he was caught cheating on his brain surgery recovering wife (and singer of their band) with her nurse. He just decided to retire at that point. Oh no wait, he's done more producing since...

Tatsuhisa Suzuki is the only male adulterer I can remember who faced real consequences. But he cheated on LiSA! He also went on hiatus for related health reasons so it's not actually possible to tell if he would have lost as many roles otherwise. I'm expecting him back as Noctis.

Anyway, if Square actually care about Takahiro Sakurai's personal affairs, we should find out fairly soon because I don't think they'd want to release the Crisis Core Remaster with him in without at least a statement if they were going to end up replacing him later.

I'm just so heartbroken by all of this -- I've been a fan of his ever voice since knowing he was Cloud's seiyuu in KH1 and his voice gave me a lot of comfort and joy over the years. I can't bring myself to hate him because of that...but I pity both his wife and his radio writer even more, neither of them deserved that. Ultimately though, no matter how I feel or how the public feels: this is a personal situation between himself, his wife, his coworker and possibly the court.

As for whether or not SE will cut ties with Takahiro Sakurai: his acting troupe was involved in a huge plagiarism controversy in 2006 involving the works of a famous script writer and while he got dropped from a lot of projects at the time, SE still retained his role as Cloud at the time. Then again, it was never clarified if Sakurai knew that his script was plagiarized from Tokyo Sunshine Boys no Wana's script or not, but he took responsibility for the plagiarism...

Honestly, I'm more lowkey afraid that he might try to attempt to commit suicide like Tatsuhisa Suzuki did last year........;;;;;;;;;;

Edit: if we're gonna talk about if 10 year long affair that went on in the 20 years of his marriage being a potential career ender, just remember that Nobuhiro Watsuki was found guilty of child pornography possession and confessed that he was sexually attracted to little girls and yet...he was only forced to pay $1.5k and only had his manga put on hiatus for ~6 months and SJ (in Japan) still publishes his work to this day.

I just don't really care what these adults do in their personal lives and have no idea why people are taking this so seriously. I know on the Japanese end this is potentially a career killer though.

Well, that's actually interesting. They suffer for awhile, but then come back. Well, good to know!

And I thought Taki's drug thing was weed, not coke. Well, still seemed like a big deal over nothing imo :monster:

In fact it’s not really ending careers as far as cheating goes; we’ll see how this develops for him but sadly cheating is so widespread in Japan that it might not be the end as we’d expect it in the West.
