Oh, that Famitsu poll isn't new, didn't we talk about those results already? Or maybe I saw it, meant to post about it and forgot about it. :monster:

Yeah. Jessie came in 4th place. Barret came in 5th. Sephiroth came in 6th. That's a shocking and incredible result which shows just how much Barret caught on in this game because I don't ever remember Barret's popularity surging that high, let alone eclipsing Sephiroth. Here are the results and votes in full.

1: Cloud (1991)
2: Tifa (1548)
3: Aerith (1433)
4: Jessie (535)
5: Barret (498)
6: Sephiroth (404)
7: Reno (376)
8: Red XIII (312)
9: Rufus Shinra (241)
10: Zack (113)

The survey polled 1,585 male and 1,328 female players, while 45 answered “other”. 1,287 players were in their 30s while 789 were in their 20s, 682 were in their 40s, 107 were between 10-19, 88 were in their 50s, and 16 were above 60. 2,426 players (85.6%) had played Final Fantasy VII, while 399 had not.

Other questions asked were how satisfied they were with the game. 2,196 (75%) were very satisfied, 511 (17.6%) were quite satisfied, 78 (2.7%) were neither satisfied nor unsatisfied, 67 (2.3%) were quite unsatisfied, and 59 (2%) were unsatisfied.

Most memorable enemies were

1: Hell House (492)
2: Rufus Shinra (172)
3: Bahamut (101)
4: Tonberry (72)
5: Reno (63)
6: Whispers (23)
7: Motor Ball (21)
8:Roche (12)
9: Hundred Gunner/The Arsenal (11)
9: Type-0 Behemoth (11)

There's much more, Famitsu apparently really wanted to pick players' brains on the game here. Very interesting results.

That was a really interesting read.

Also, the sole comment on that page is just...okay, wow.

He was a tiny blip in the overall story, of course he got super low numbers. I don't think he should have even been included as an option (assuming they gave a list of options)

If I recall correctly, Zack actually wasn't even listed as one of the character options in that poll, and he showed up in the top ten solely from people choosing "other" and then writing him in. – Which means that he outperformed all of the other named Shinra & Avalanche characters in the game, even without having an entry.
So... you may have drawn the completely wrong conclusion from what that data looks like at a glance. :awesomonster:

Right, Zack was a dedicated write in. Made the 10th spot through sheer fandom dedication.

In fact, Zack has always maintained a strong dedicated fanbase. He showed up with 1,296 votes in Brave Exivus's favorite character poll before he even showed up in the damn game.

Also was 10th most popular character in the most recent NHK FF poll too. Which is funny because originally it was Sephiroth but apparently on recount Zack beat him by a very small number of votes, bumping him down to 11.

Zack lives. :monster:

The fact that Tifa and Aerth combined have 6x more votes than Jessie fills my heart with the smallest amount of sadistic satisfaction.

I'm so glad that Barret's rising in popularity though. I think one of the many great things about the Remake is that Barret is a lot more endearing to players now.

I kind of hate it that I can't even be happy my favorite minor character got so popular anymore...

Anyway, Barret, in my opinion, is and always has been FFVII's best character. He's got more range of emotion, and he's got the most heart. I can't help but love that his motivation is to make the world a better place for his daughter, what a sweetheart lol. Out of all the characters, I think FFVII reall would not be the game it is without Barret in it. Glad people are coming around on him.

YOUR favorite?! What about mine?! I’m so sick of SE ignoring Marle, she is literally the best girl in the entire game. Reminder that Cloud’s mother even said that somebody older would be perfect for him, an obvious nod towards their romantic chemistry. Honestly, SE needs to stop pandering to Tifa and Aerith fans and give Marle an equal amount of attention as a new love interest. She had better become an option for the Gold Saucer date in the next game or I swear to God, I will raise holy hell the likes of which the FF7R Twitter account has never seen before. Teehee.

Surprised no one posted this here. It may or may not be 7R2, but given that her link is a deleted post and given how SE treats such info...

She linked an instagram story so it would’ve expired after a day anyways, still, to have two VAs recording in what may or may not be the same studio is a pretty interesting coincidence...or is it?
