If it wasn't for FFXIV bombing and Squenix having to cash in with a cheap sequel to FFXIII, perhaps we'd have this game by now.

I'm holding out hope that we'll still get a shred of information here at E3, although knowing Squarenix and their ignorant decision making -- Final Fantasy XIII-2 -- we probably won't hear much and have to wait until TGS. And even then, it will be a repeat of last year. You know what? Versus is never going to come out. I give up.

FFVersus-XIII Info Thread (Less Griping Version)
I'm all for news, where is news? Info is always nicer than opinion.
I know a lot of people around here are rather jaded by this title...but (and this is coming from me), I've waited for certain older games from older generation systems far longer than just simply "waiting for a game to come out". Being poor sucks, so that means I've to wait even longer to get my games, so...just get used to waiting, folks, that's all I have to say on that subject.
As for me, I've been hyped for this game ever since I saw the trailers for it. In fact, I'd really like to learn as much as I can about it, since I haven't really had any good resources on it...things like the music, the language of the music translated, or perhaps more info on the setting.
I'm especially excited about it, because it reminds me of "The Godfather" which is, believe it or not, a MOVIE SAGA I HAVE YET TO SEE!...so I can't really compare the two though the vibe feels similar perhaps.
Anyways, can anyone provide some detail about what the progress is with this title? Specs? What can we expect from the plot and gameplay (especially what with, let's face it, 13-2 being the only recent major success since Dissidia based on my observation)?
Not to mention I have hopes that someday Noctis makes an appearance in a Dissidia-like game to come!

The first Final Fantasy, actually...I didn't actually play it until PC emulators were invented!
You didn't wait for that game to be released. You just took that long to play it. Thats a big difference.
And honestly there isnt much news about Versus the wiki article wouldn't tell you. Its fucking vapor ware. They've not shown or revealed any meaningful info on it thanks to it being in developer Hell.

Versus was announced at the same time as XIII, and all we've had are snippets and FMV "trailers" here and there. There's nothing to know about it except speculation based on the scraps SQEX have decided to throw to the beggars.
This is why all you see is what you so kindly refer to as "griping". It's 6 years later, and every year someone from the company says it'll be released next year. Originally it was planned for release the year after XIII, which itself was supposed to be released in 2007. Most people are too jaded by all the false promises and announcements of announcements to give a fuck anymore.

The griping stems from the lack of info. 
If they release more info (or the game itself), there will be less griping -- if only because everybody is griping right now, and they would stand to shift at least a few people from gripe territory elsewhere.

I'm betting fail. 
Griping about this game has gotten too fun. They're going to ruin all that if they finish it. The gameplay of Versus XIII has a high standard to meet if it's going to be better than this.

Yes, the problem is people don't like sitting around like a good little doggy waiting for them to throw more scraps of nothing at us. People want to see this game. Complaining about the lack of information helps people feel better about the fact that there is no information.
Also, if anyone is like me they're pissed right off that they decided to announce it about 4 years before deciding to start properly developing the thing. It wouldn't be hard for someone to say "we're at this stage of development" or "the gameplay will be of style x". At this point, the hype marketing is a failure.

No way can this game get its ass ready by fall, unless it's fucking atrocious. I'm pretty sure they're going to tide us over with 13-3 (God, I'm gonna retch) and we'll see it in 2013 on the PS4
