LOL "tasteful."

Her outfit's in TFS and it's just as..."tasteful" as it was in Dirge of Cerberus :awesomonster:

Released on November 17, 2021 (according to FF wiki, I haven't done extensive looks backward).
Ending now on January 11, 2023.

The game will have lasted just over 1 year. This matches my original predictions for how long the game would last. I will admit though that my surface impression the last few months was that the game was performing well, so I was expecting the game to last up to 4-5 years with that momentum.

Holy shit, that was short as hell and the most pessimistic estimation of it's lifespan ever. :monster:

Goddamn, @Shademp you were right.

That's so sad. It just didn't pick up any traction. The BR market is cornered and it didn't get beyond niche status. Such a shame.

They definitely shot themselves in the foot not going into consoles. Their core demographic of FFVII fans are NOT mobile only game players.

S-E seriously has a very, VERY poor understanding about their core audience. No, the majority are not mobile gamers or okay with being one. FF/JRPG fans are not games-as-service gamers unless it's something extremely nostalgic or relevant to their interests.

IF they wanted to get more people to adopt this, they needed to meet players half way and put this on consoles. But they didn't. They thought they could pull new players into it but they fucked up. There's too much competition from developers who do this properly. Apex Legends is a thing, for one. And extremely popular.

I had lots of fun with it but sadly it just wasn't enough. They really shouldn't have locked it on mobile.

Ah that's a pity. I'll admit that I haven't played in a while, but that was mostly life stuff, combined with the faff of having to borrow the ipad, steal the ps5 controller and sync them together in order to play. Stopped it being a game I just pick up whenever and moved it into something I was only gonna play when I had a decent chunk of time to spare - which doesn't happen often and when it does there's usually something else I want to play more. I genuinely enjoyed it though, especially playing with some of you guys.

I didn't play as I don't like FPS, but it's a shame for those who actually enjoyed it, and spent $$$ on it! :/

Really SE making questionable choices re: their games is so typical. We're in 2022, and I feel a decade earlier we could still rant about the same thing.

Aww man... This genuinely makes me sad. I only played it for a brief window, but it was actually fun to play. Far more than I would have expected from a mobile online battle royale, which is something I would never even consider playing if it weren't based entirely within the FF7 universe.

Y'all have it right, though. Getting it setup to to play was a bit of a chore, and they really should have made efforts to move it to console/PC. They were putting out regular updates and had a creative approach to an otherwise tired genre.

Damn. That sucks.

Wow. lol, so much for that.

As you all observe, it would have done better if they had put on some platforms that used freakin controllers (by default). But maybe not that much better, lol.

Eh?
Just saw news on this. Well, it doesnt surprise me. I always thought that if they wanted to tap into the Battle Royale market they should try to penetrate it with something like a Fortnite collab.

I swear SE has the worst merchandising team anyway. It's 100% overpriced and they seem to miss a lot of stuff. That hoodie would have been a superstar, and not only for FFVII but the whole FF franchise as a whole - but let's face it, it would have been overpriced, like easily twice its price.

When I look at Tifa merch, all I see is missed opportunities, except for the last two figurines which are super expensive lol. I'm just smh.

I guess they lost their touch of Mobile gaming after they worked on Before Crisis? Cause that game lasted longer than this did. Even tho it survived the smart phone uprising.
On the other hand is anyone bothering to look into help archiving the data of FS?

I also think this has to do with good ole fashion corporate stinginess.

Remember, this game wasn't developed in-house by S-E. They let a small indie developer make this game, using Remake assets and the IP. And I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give this poor company the funds and resources necessary to port this game like they should have.

Almost feels like a "set up to fail" situation.
