Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier

Erotic Materia

[CONFUSED SCREAMING]
Aww man... This genuinely makes me sad. I only played it for a brief window, but it was actually fun to play. Far more than I would have expected from a mobile online battle royale, which is something I would never even consider playing if it weren't based entirely within the FF7 universe.

Y'all have it right, though. Getting it setup to to play was a bit of a chore, and they really should have made efforts to move it to console/PC. They were putting out regular updates and had a creative approach to an otherwise tired genre.

Damn. That sucks.

Wow. lol, so much for that.

As you all observe, it would have done better if they had put on some platforms that used freakin controllers (by default). But maybe not that much better, lol.

Just saw news on this. Well, it doesnt surprise me. I always thought that if they wanted to tap into the Battle Royale market they should try to penetrate it with something like a Fortnite collab.

I swear SE has the worst merchandising team anyway. It's 100% overpriced and they seem to miss a lot of stuff. That hoodie would have been a superstar, and not only for FFVII but the whole FF franchise as a whole - but let's face it, it would have been overpriced, like easily twice its price.

When I look at Tifa merch, all I see is missed opportunities, except for the last two figurines which are super expensive lol. I'm just smh.

I guess they lost their touch of Mobile gaming after they worked on Before Crisis? Cause that game lasted longer than this did. Even tho it survived the smart phone uprising.
On the other hand is anyone bothering to look into help archiving the data of FS?

I also think this has to do with good ole fashion corporate stinginess.

Remember, this game wasn't developed in-house by S-E. They let a small indie developer make this game, using Remake assets and the IP. And I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give this poor company the funds and resources necessary to port this game like they should have.

Almost feels like a "set up to fail" situation.

Pity to see all those fun glamor assets go.
Was waiting for a console release to check this out, but can't say I care too much since I don't typically play PvP games.
At least it'll live on in Ever Crisis.......for a while at least.

i downloaded this but never even opened the app and now i wonder if there's any point lol

i'm not really interested in the genre and was apprehensive about the controls on a phone, but if it had been on consoles i might have tried it out

And that should really be the normal, human reaction to this lol

(My friend who became part of the Ambassador program plays on, uhm, his iPad, but with it hooked up to his monitor, and with a controller)

Like, it really blows my mind the more I think about the total misjudge S-E of the core demographic that would adopt and play this.

I get S-E wanted to pull new people into this. That makes sense.

But there was a serious misunderstanding of mobile phone only adoption rates for a high-end BR game such as this. The JRPG FF demographic (which while has many young Gen-Z fans, is still predominantly Gen Y) is lukewarm to "mobile only."

Especially outside of Asia.

Furthermore, there were serious bugs and controls issues due to the game having optimization problems due to trying to make the game run properly on all phones. This made a poor play experience at certain points of it's lifespan.

Overall I feel like in certain ways A-Team was almost set up to fail. Because they were a small company already, and it probably was a lot more of a massive project than they realized.
